Very interesting candid chat Jamie. I did wonder why you hadn’t posted for a while. So much going on, but a new chapter in life lies ahead once you get past the p.i.t.a. hassles of relocating. It must’ve been extraordinarily difficult to be organising that while also dealing with feeling sick with Covid. Glad you’re on the mend. I’ll look forward to your upcoming interviews & would also be interesting to see how you set up your new space. Is your Akai MG1214 just a museum piece now?😁
Hi Dave, thanks for your understanding and kind words! The AKAi is in storage with the old man, needs some attention as the tape mechanism won’t open. So a fix for another day. I’ve archived my taps and will do digital transfers in the future. I’ll aim to share studio rebuild plans later in the year and work on new content which may be more software based and physiological in the shorter term.
@@jamiedurrantmusician So Ivan's in storage too? 😁 Hope he & the family are well! say hello to them for me. I have a similar issue with my 1212 except in my case the tape mechanism comes up...but then immediately goes back down before a tape's inserted! Glad to have moved across to digital. I'll look forward too new posts when you get everything sorted.
Wow, moving sounds like the fattest hassle but I hope your new place is dope! Atm, I'm recording drums for my new band and I just can't seem to get the snare drum to sound good. I'm happy with how everything else sounds but I guess I have to keep experimenting. I got a black beauty snare and the ringing it makes is driving me crazy but when I add even a little bit of muffling it sounds dead and boring. Anyway, that's where I'm at, looking forward to more of your vids.
@@jamiedurrantmusician That would be cool! I think the audio will be kind of trash through my phone but I can record a clip with a mic and show you that way if that works.

Snare drums can be a huge pain in the arse when they’re not right. Maybe do a FaceTime with me with the drum in the room and I’ll listen and advise.

@@Adrian_Franco doesn’t matter so much the phone audio quality
