I always liked her. She was a great actress but no beauty queen. Which is why no big fuss was made over her. She did win a Primetime Emmy Award, two Golden Globe's, four Academy Award nominations and six Emmy nominations . Not bad for a second banana .
This scene exemplifies the theme of the whole story of "Das siebte Kreuz" von Anna Seghers: In the worst of times, some people will be very supportive but others will be treacherous.
There were many gossips about her being lesbian, but so far there's not proof of it, and since Miss Moorehead is not longer with us, I believe we should respect her memory.'The other thing is that Agnes Moorehead was an excellent actress but Hollywood always looked at those more commercially profitable, just as it is right now. Still she managed to keep busy and to prove what a wonderful thespian she was.
Supposedly, Paul Lynde called her a lesbian as a joke but once something is said and gets out there it can never be taken back, and then it is believed as truth.
Moorehead's close friend Debbie Reynolds stated categorically that Moorehead was not a lesbian. Reynolds' autobiography mentions the rumor and states it was begun by one of Moorehead's husbands during their divorce. Moorehead's longtime friend and producer Paul Gregory concurs in the assessment. Quint Benedetti, Moorehead's longtime employee who is himself gay, also stated that Moorehead was not a lesbian and attributed the stories to frequent rumor-mongering.
Great actress. I suspect that any rumors about her sexuality were started by jealous people who wanted to smear someone who was much more talented than they.
Spencer Tracy owned Ms. Moorehead's North Roxbury Drive home, then composer Sigmund Romberg owned it, then Agnes owned "Villa Agnese," as she called it. She always said that "Blossom Time" comes out of every corner of the house. 😂 💜
*Squeal- Thank you soooo much!! I've been dying to see this- but have been hesitant to buy it b/c I don't really care for Spencer Tracy all that much and Agnes only has ONE scene! :'( ....Thanks Again! --Margo

Was Agnes not a super star because she was not attractive enough in Hollywood terms or because she was a lesbian -or both- because she was absolutely amazing in all the roles I've seen her play? Incredible range. Incredibly underrated. R.I.P.
Two extraordinary actors... Tracy and Moorehead. Consummate actors. Thank you for sharing this gem.
Agnes Moorehead AND Spencer Tracy? Wow!
A shamefully underrated film that deserves to be seen!!!
Maybe 'The seventh cross' should be re-made. Or would that be sacrilege!
YES!! Sacrilege!!
wow I only just started watching Agnes as Endora XD This is long before Bewitched :D She's so awesome
Memorable performances
He had just saw the bold leap by Belani that Agnes Moorehead spoke of...

I agree that her talents were never truly appreciated.

@@sissy20088 Agnes was also nominated for 2 Oscars.
I disagree!! Agnes was exceptionly beautiful!! She just screamed "SEXY!!" 💜

@@OurHumbleLife Paul Lynde was a nasty drunk.

With Fred Zinneman directing this film, you're out of luck if you're expecting the cheesy German accents.
There, that's better. You have to look right or you won't succeed in this business or any other.

Indeed, but that's not to say I don't respect him as an artist- I just prefer other styles. ^_^ And I would of FF through it myself- lol ;)
@tss77 Hey tss. I had another channel and I had uploaded several movies. That account got closed. Sorry! :-(
