In this episode of the life of the Random Romer named Marco, we hit the streets of Jakarta Indonesia, a city that was once on the Australian Government's DO NOT TRAVEL warning list,
A country which I was genuinely scared of for things like terrorist attacks and kidnapping. But as I grew older and I traveled the world I realised these places aren't as bad as the media and the "Everyday Aussie" makes them out to be.
Many other travelers has told me that Jakarta was quite a peaceful city with nice people which shocked me after what the media had shown me in the past growing up so I decided to set out to Jakarta and I have to say Indonesian people are up there with the nicest people I have ever come across in my life they treated me so much respect I felt safe at all times.
Yes it may be a little bit of behind where Australia is at with infrastructure and Environmental Protection, but that doesn't change the respect and attitude from the people I met.
In Jakarta in Indonesia we coincidentally came in to a military Navy Fair parade , where I went around and spoke with the men from the military who are all willing to have a chat take photos and have a laugh, definitely not the thing you can do in most countries by the Indonesians took this as all the light-hearted fun.
It made quite a good video to show just how friendly and genuine Indonesians really are in a city that gets overlooked by the majority of Travelers. Anyone who is reading this I would encourage you to not just go to Bali but give Jakarta a go too, it's a huge city with a huge population and there is always something interesting going on.

Bro your travels inspire me! I will be in Australia sometime next year. Still planning it out in terms of best times to visit and where to go. 2025 trip. I will be flying into Sydney and would love if you could give me some good insight into nightlife but also daytime ventures. I would prefer to go off the beaten path and the less tourist side , drink in a local bar, hit up a music festival, stay with some Australian families a few nights if possible. @@marcoroams wow it really is crazy we can communicate from the opposite sides of the world at totally different times but still at the same time, if that makes sense lol. I’m right below the border of Canada in Bellingham Washington state Pacific Northwest area on a native reservation. The only problem here is the cold weather it’s miserable in the winter but I’d recommend visiting Bellingham in the summer it’s known for having a lot of great hiking and outdoor areas and we have more weed shops than there is mini marts 🤣🤣

most of the time its okay to sit there and just "look at the menu" while eating your food*, especially you bought your food at the food tenant that is next to the chairs. it will make their shops look "crowded" which implies that most Indonesians believe more customers will come. Most of the time they just want to know what they can do to help you.

I live in Jakarta myself but I rarely go to Monas (Central Monument) 😂 Jakarta is a city of traffic jam and I'm too lazy to drive my car or ride my bike to go there, using public transportation is also a no for me because of the heat 😂

FYI the soldiers who wear desert camo with red berets, they are KOPASKA elite troops ranked 3rd in the world, the ability of 1 KOPASKA is the same as 24 ordinary Indonesian soldiers.
