That driver is a really good "real Jakarta" tourist guide, didn't gaslight you, asking the kids to buy the cheaper ones 10:55, showing the alcohol culture in Muslim country etc. Although I expect to see the more dangerous "hood" (or kampung) like Tanah Abang or Priok, as a native Jakartan, this is a gold "content".

What a life they have to live each day. Kids are happy , many have phones, but it is so sad that they have to live a life that those of us in America could not imagine. A great video -

That's very brave of you, even me as a local I wouldn't dare to do that. The guy is great, might overexaggerate a bit sometimes, but based on his cicumstances I can understand his point of view. Yeah I’ve always felt pretty safe in these areas, the only time I genuinely felt uncomfortable and unsure was when i was offered tea in Egypt … it just seemed suspicious how the gave it to me and all crowded around to watch me drink … maybe I was paranoid, but I was playing it super careful. In 90's train were even worse,it be like in movie endof days. Kompartment were pitch dark,passenger light up candle for light,beggar and locals selling cig in the kompartment. Yep Jakarta were harsh place. I my self lived in north Jakarta from the day i were born, Port area the most violent part of the city.street brawl almost every night. Using machete,sickle, knives,rock.sickle fight were the worse. Hand were cut off, intestine scattered. Glad i get my self some diplome from state university it bit saves my life

Hey Marcos, I have lived in Johan Baru, Jakarta and the slums from the airport to Blok M is extremely shocking that I had never seen before in my life. It just goes to prove the Muslims don't really give a rats arse about all types of Muslims. The country is riddled with haves and have nots. The divide between rich and poor is an example of how wrong Islam does not serve the common people fairly. Thank GOD we are blessed of the Christian Democracy and thats why so many from Asia and Africa want to live in Australia. Our beaches we take for granted. All states of Australia are blessed with beaches, fresh air, no pollution, and amazing fruit/vegetables. We are blessed to be born in the Lucky country still. Even though our rent has increased a lot and price of living but still we have so much to be thankful about.

Hey Marcos, I have lived in Johan Baru, Jakarta and the slums from the airport to Blok M is extremely shocking that I had never seen before in my life. It just goes to prove the Muslims don't really give a rats arse about all types of Muslims. The country is riddled with haves and have nots. The divide between rich and poor is an example of how wrong Islam does not serve the common people fairly. Thank GOD we are blessed of the Christian Democracy and thats why so many from Asia and Africa want to live in Australia. Our beaches we take for granted. All states of Australia are blessed with beaches, fresh air, no pollution, and amazing fruit/vegetables. We are blessed to be born in the Lucky country still. Even though our rent has increased a lot and price of living but still we have so much to be thankful about.
