SM is sooo beautiful. It’s good looking from every direction.
Truly a masterpiece in automotive Design. Love that car
0:24 So cool how the suspension goes down and back up again!
You could use it to change tires, no jack necessary.
This film brought the SM to so many people. It was worth the loss of one.
One of the coolest 70scars ever.
What a carriage. The manner she stops then kicks up her bottom as soon as the reverse gear is engaged is thing to behold.
Prendi il confort Citroen, aggiungi un motore 8V Maserati poi toglieteli 2 cilindri, una silhouette da GT et voila' la SM! Chapeau!😊🐎🐎🐎
Still today in 2019 my favorite car I ever owned
Great
That Citröen was a century ahead of the tired Detroit iron trying to catch it.
Very, very true. And it is demonstrated by the stunt driver - not Burt Reynolds - at the wheel. The name of the car on the front license plate is well featured. I wonder how much Citroen North America paid to place the SM in this film. It is obviously a product placement.
@@jjlasne Was there even a Citroen North America @ this time?
SM unique, no one will copy this unicorn. Of course, French have yet to make a Cobra.
Only in your opinion could that be true.
Mon rêve le plus absolu : sa Majesté la SM ❤️
Love the bit with the shopping trolley, hope they gave it a nice burial.
I remember an early-70s American TV series that may have lasted five episodes, set in the future, and the protagonist drove a Citroen-Maserati SM.
Then there was the Columbo episode where Columbo was scrounging change to gas up his "It's a French car" Peugeot and the murderer, driving a "Mine is French, too" SM, offers to help out with a few bucks
imcdb may have it.
The murderer was patrick mcgoohan
The SM never really got the attention it deserved. A lovely car if not a little quirky to drive!
Agree. Great car!
Quirky in all the wrong ways......hell, a Corvair was quirkier than this!!!
@@michaelmeliambro5117 Each to his own, Michael. Each to his own.
@@petergibbs It's only the truth.
May be they should have done a 4 door. The market for upmarket coupés is too limited.
Fantastic car!
That Citroen just streches through corners :D ...
Hydropneumatic suspension, used on some Mercedes & Rolls also.
That the way to drive a classic SM.
Brilliant video work m8. Keep it up...especially on all citroens!!
Fastest front wheel drive car of its era... With 180 horsepower, it was also the most powerful too...
Brilliant! Notice at high speed corners it's like on rails while the yank tanks fish tail.
*MASERATI ENGINE EQUIPPED*
No shit
Twin-cam 90 degree V6, 2.7 liters, if I remember right. Not quite as sexy as the Studebaker Avanti, but more sophisticated mechanically.
Like I give a f*ck……..
"Französisches Wohnzimmer"
auf vier Rädern.😊
👍!!Einfach Klasse!!👍
La SM est encore plus cool quand il y a Burt Reynolds derrière le volant.
Der SM von Citroën ist toll.!!
Columbo - " Identity Cris " - 1975
Patrick McGoohan drove a SM
That is scene is on our Instagram

Ok, I'm gonna have a look, thanks
Great video. 👍
Thanks
Just compare it to the other cars in the clips! It will still look cool today.
I remember being blown away by the Longest Yardscene when it first came out.
First video of your channel that I see and I love, besides make a video on the SM, a car too little known.
I recommend folks watching Jay Leno's Garage video regarding the SM! Brilliant stuff.
Marvelous.
A legendary car for sure !
Colombo, temporada 5 , capítulo 3, 'Crisis de identidad'. Sale un xm verde precioso.
SM querrás decir, no xm!!!
it was used in an episode of columbo in 1975. episode 3 of season 5
C’etait un rendez-vous.
Golden!
Thank you
Citroën🇫🇷🇮🇹Maserati
Gotta love some Burt Reynolds
My super-senior (well over a century) great-great aunt was a huge fan of Burt's, and she had a life-size poster of the Cosmopolitan nude centerfold over the door in her nursing home room in the mid-70s.
1:34 Heiter Bis Tödlich (2014) 1973 Citroën SM
The most stylish man to walk the Earth, Alain Delon, drove an SM in the film ‘Traitment de Choc’
‘Nuff said.....
Cary Grant. Planes, trains, automobiles. 007 Sean Connery was hotter in his Aston than Delon ever was.
During the entire video, I was hoping to see the Citroen SM that was in Zoolander.
Quelle eran citroen, mica le pagliacciate che si vedono oggi!
La version upgradée par SM2A est encore plus ambitieuse.
Great car
Citroen SM: cool as f**k!
Cool as fork? I don’t see any similarities with SM and fork. =P

Ow ça balance dans tout les senses hhhh
Auto epica.
You forgot "Columbo: Identity Crisis, 1975"
But what about the TV-series "Mission Impossible" in Paris?
Columbo " Identity crisis" 1975
You can find that scene on our Istagram account
Oh i see in Columbo thet like french cars
I'm glad that this Columbo episode gets a mention.
A lot of the villains in Columbo tend to drive European cars. Except the Lieutenant of course.
@@mattw8332 Peugeot.
@@ClassicCarsinMovies For the love of God, don't show it on YT!!!!
1:24 The Ups And Dows Of A Business Man (1977) 1970 Citroën SM
These rear wheel drive american cars didn´t have a chance with the front wheel drive, hydropneumatic SM!
Immatriculée CITROÊN SM dans le premier film.
Breakout (1975) starring Charles Bronson featured SM
0:03 The Longest Yard (1975) 1972 Citroën SM
3:10 Citroën SM Je T'aime (2005) 1974 Citroën SM
You can see it too in Zoolander.
"Citroen SM" on the licence plate!
I have always liked Burt Reynolds but wrecking that SM was unforgivable...
No. It's what it deserved.
@@michaelmeliambro5117 Well, I'm glad I never treated mine like that 😄😄
2:12 César Et Rosalie (1973) 1971 Citroën SM Injection Electronique
U forgot columbo
do Lamborghini Jarama
CITROEN SM on the license plate ?
You would think there are more films - the DS gets a lot of screen time.
What about Zoolander?
🇫🇷FRENCH BASHING like USUAL🇫🇷.
I owned x2 SMs, they are sooo cool - but can bite ya if not used enough - so use it if u have one - (urrrgh not like Burt Reynolds did mind !1)
Buena peli
Con Burt Reynolds
Parece mentira que este coche tenga 50 años,precioso y motor Maserati
It also appears in Zoolander.
Hello, Can i request a Land Rover Series in movies please and a Porsche 928...😁🙏🏼🙏🏼

Victime de la crise pétrolière.
Trust an American film to smash up a Beautiful car.
‘If it ain’t an American V8, it’s a pile of crap’ is their philosophy.
These cars were classy cars & quite rare even when they were in production.
It's not uncommon for cars to be "sacrificed" in a chase. It just feels worse because SMs are so rare. No doubt there was some product placement going on, and the SM's unique capabilities got a real workout with a stunt driver at the helm!
Tbh...the Americans did smash up a lot of their cars too....
Burt Reynolds, Hal Needham, Cannonbal Run & MANY more!
Not just American, original Italian Job begins with Miura smashing into bulldozer to be plowed off Alp, 1st Casino Royale smashed E-Type roadster into stone gates, 007 buzz sawed Z8 in half, PLENTY more!
Nope if they thought it was a pile of crap it wouldn't be immortalized as the hero car, getting banged up in a great cinematic car chase made the SM even more desirable and legendary.
Bought Maserati for the v8,for that car , didn't fit, chopped two cylinders, ran lumpy on tickover from new
Columbo ???
Maserati motor Johan Cruijff had one best car ever
A shame they crashed it into a shopping trolly for literally no reason.
did you see the swim in the river?
Netherland SM is the best...
Meilenstein der Automobilgeschichte und der 70er / Reynold war ein Automörder auch wenn es nur ein film war =wie kann man so über ein schwelle fahren ?
The Longest Yard was definitely the film that introduced me to the gorgeous SM!
A good chase scene in the longest yard but the filmakers should never had caused that damage to the car. Shame.
I remember seeing this film BR wrecked a decent car.
He was used to Trans Ams.
Quel C... ce Burt REYNOLDS !!!!!, casser une SM , un scandale!
A la fin de la scène il s'en débarrasse dans l'océan
Also in zoolander
1:00 fuck abs!!
At least 20 years ahead of it´s time in 1970. Even by today´s standards not an oldfashioned car... comfort, roadholding, steering still better than in many of today´s cars. Masses of character, lovely engine which is reliable if you treat it with respect (as any sophisticated engine!!!); It had an automatic aircondition, rainsensor wipers (in 1970!!!), bonded front and rear screen as well as hydraulicly operated swivelling headlights (mecanical on the DS). The headlights had over 2000 Lumen in 1970!!! And everything is selflevelling!
So what did Volkswagen produce back in 1970??? The Beetle = Hitlers revenge!!! Rubbish on wheels! And the world famous widow makers 411 and 412 (unrepairable rubbish with unaccessible engine bay)... the worst constuctions in automobile history ever! Uninspired and the meaning of innovation never ever heard of before... Just as today....
Because Porsche ripped of pre-War Tatra tech., same time American Cord produced fwd. GT decades before Citroen. By 1970 VW had bought moribund Audi from Daimler & were using their water-cooled fwd. tech. to replace Beetle with Golf, still going on decades later, now making way for BEV.
@@unowen-nh9ov LOL I'd sooner own the Cord than this garbage.
Too bad the SM was a flop. Would love to see more of them and them being more affordable.
What's also a shame is how the americans treated the SM. Those round headlights look so damn ugly
Ситроен смотрит на все остальные машины как на говно
Laughs like a girl 👧
*Thanks 'CCiM' Citroën SM je t'aime! Stupendous action.
