Hats off to anyone who can play Master of Puppets start to finish without ending up with carpal tunnel, thats a beast of a song to pull off in its entirety
🙌 i feel down picking Master of Puppets is like one of the pillars/big first achievements , such an endurance run . the speed at which they played it back in the 80s is scary stuff
@@JamieSlays 7 riffs that utilize 7 different guitar techniques lets say sweep picking as envy, wrath could be like trem picking or chugs so on and so forth idk could be cool once you figured it out
When I was 14 years old, I was watching Forrest Gump one day. There's a scene where Jenny is about to jump off the balcony, and the song "Freebird" is playing. That moment got me started on guitar. After a while, I got into the typical metal bands from the 80s,90s and early 2000s. Then my father showed me the SRV performance at Austin City Limits from 1989. I was like "Holy Sh%T".....
Only recently I noticed that I can't really play Master of Puppets at full speed, yet. Only a couple times I could, but never again. Reaching the end of the descending riff feels exhaustive. I always thought the second riff was the hardest, and may be ir played in strict downstrokes (which I'm not trying to do now), but man, this is harder than I thought, and, I've been playing for years already.
For me the start was Hell‘s Bells by AC/DC and the insane energy of Angus Young live on stage in general. After that Motörhead, Metallica & Iron Maiden followed quickly. Then Pantera, Amon Amarth and Slipknot…
That was fantastic Jamie but can u give us a guitar lesson of the song are u dead yet by children of bodom I know how to Olay it but is tricky and I missing some part
Great list! Even though it was mostly solos that made me want to play guitar/bass, some riffs that definitely inspired me personally were Before I forget by slipknot and Blind by KoRn (That and Metallica, duh)
@@JamieSlays papa roach and static x for sure surprised me. Slipknot Sic dosent get enough credit it sounds easy, looking at the tab it looks easy. That outro riff absolutely wears my picking hand out
When I learned how to program beats, learning to play guitar was a means to include melody really. Just plain one-finger droptune riffs. My style is super basic and fairly slow paced, so when I actually want to figure out a riff I have a very hard time doing that because I never learned the regular basics everyone has figured out 🫠

The “let freedom ring with the shotgun blast” breakdown in Davidian changed my life!

Yehhhhh! I could play it two years into my guitar playing and I love it so much
I've seen videos of Metallica playing it live decades ago and they played it even faster than on the album.
the 7 deadly sins of guitar riffs would be a fire video idea!
Oh yeh?! How would that work haha
