I feel like if you're looking for a VERY specific vibe for cottage core but creepy, House of Hollow is perfect for that. It's very spring vibes but its all wrong/rotten and it was super intriguing to me while also weirdly fitting this exact theme haha
I definitly need to read The House in the Cerulean Sea at this point 😅 If some of you want cottagecore/cozy spring vibes graphic novels, I would recommand : -The Tea Dragon Society -Mouse Guard -Sprite and the Gardener ☺️📚
So...I have a few recommends for you! :) My first one is a middle grade novel, but it's honestly timeless--"Mandy" by THE Julie Andrews. It's a story about an orphan girl who goes over her orphanage's garden wall, and discovers an abandoned cottage in the woods, and fixes it up bit by bit in secret. It's delightful, and I think you'd really love it! Found family, secret garden vibes, flowers, fixing things, adorable orphans. "The Blue Castle" by LM Montgomery was mentioned by someone else, and honestly, I'd die if this book was made into a miniseries or film. I can't even begin to describe this book except that it is pure loveliness--an "old maid" decides to spurn the ideals and requirements of her puritanical family to seek her own happiness, and she does just that. Valancy Stirling is one of my favorite heroines. For me, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherine M. Valente *is* on this list for me, probably because fairycore and cottagecore are intertwined for me. The fairytale elements and the magical-girl-on an-adventure-trope is augmented by incredible characters and lovely immersive, atmospheric details. Honestly, the James Herriot books, All Creatures Great and Small is a bit of a masc-of-center element to cottagecore, but honestly I think they would totally suit! James Herriot is a young vet who gets a new job in the Yorkshire Dales and meets all kinds of bizarre and unique folks, animals, and it's so very cozy and sweet. 1930's, very lovely and quaint, excellent writing. I love your channel so much and I hope you're having a great week!!!
Thank you sm! I always have trouble picking out books to read, I’m just too overwhelmed with so many options! But thanks to you, now I have some ideas. 😊 🍃 🌸
Miss Austen by Gill Hornby is such a cozy and wholesome cottagecore novel!! You can check that out if you like. Brownie points for being set in the English countryside!!
I recently found you through the wormhole of cozy youtubers and I must say, I am obsessed with you and your book recommendations! I have a really short attention span, so I’ve never been much of a reader because I’d forget what I just read and so I’d have to start over again, but I do love stories! I really got into listening to audiobooks the past year or two, and I think I’m ready to start reading on my own! Your videos are so cozy and your style and aesthetic is so bright and sweet! I’m going to select a book from one of these recommendations now. Looking forward to more of your content! :))
I also really loved Edenbrooke! It's my favorite from Donaldson but I would also recommend her other book Blackmoore. For cottagecore I would definitely recommend The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery. 😊
I think you could like "The girl who drank the moon" and "The Witch's Boy" from Kelly Barnhill. Those are very cute books, with wonderful storylines ^^☀️
Soo excited to see I Capture the Castle on this list!! My grandma got it for me and told me 'it's like having a long, warm bath' and she was so right (although it gets sadder towards the end)
A really good book that has summery, childhood cozy vibes with a little mystery is Ray Bradbury’s Dandelion Wine, it’s one of my all time favorites and its a very enjoyable read that makes you feel like a child again 🥰
Ive found this book in my local library n I’m rlly intrested abt it, it’s called max the mighty by Rodman Phil Rick and I cant get my eyes off it- it’s not cottage core style but the cover gives it a cozy feel - y2k 🍄 🍃
The House in the Cerulean Sea is the only book in this whole video that I've read, so I'm super excited to add all of these to my (impossibly long) TBR!! As always, immaculate vibes~ Hope you're doing well
OH MY GOD I ABSOLUTELY LOVE "EDENBROOKE". IT IS MY FAVORITE REGENCY ROMANCE NOVEL❤️❤️❤️ Here are some recommendations for you my friend : ✨Seeking Persephone by Sarah M Eden ✨Lakeshire Park by Meghan Walker ✨Becoming Lady Lockwood by Jennifer Moore ✨A proper charade by Esther Hatch ✨The Lady of Larkspur Vale by Kasey Stockton.
My spring reads recommendations: 🌼 Little Women Emma The Tea Dragon Society *graphic novel Snapdragon *graphic novel The House in the Cerulean Sea ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
I’m in the middle of tuck everlasting and (maybe unsurprisingly) it is v cottagecore. I was absolutely delighted by the idea of a mouse living in a drawer in the tucker house!
My spring reading slump this year has been a BEAST. I've recently gotten into classics just because I don't feel as pressured to keep up with new releases or the majority of bookish circles but I will try these reads I really like your taste, especially in video games.
this is the only mood i’ve been in lately so i’m very thankful for the timing of this video hahaha 💗 i recently finished ‘summers at castle auburn’ by sharon shinn and though i’d say it’s more of a summer vibe, it’s got the coziness of spring, if that makes sense. it’s like a slice of life fantasy and it was just so lovely
I kind of can't believe you didn't mention The Secret Garden, which is like the OG cottagecore book. Mr Pernumbras 24 Hour Bookstore is absolutely wonderful and so calming and peaceful.
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman is nice cottagecore read. There’s some sadness in there, but it’s really very good. It’s by the same author who wrote Practical Magic.
Hi Monica! There's also a graphic novel called Glass Town, by a different author (don't remember the name though). But turns out Glass Town is a fictional world created by the Bronte siblings in their adolescence, so I think the author in the book you mentioned probably wrote a reinterpretation of that! The graphic novel is good but quite confusing hahaha
Hi Monica dear! ❤️😘 I want to recommend an amazing book which I have read recently and I absolutely ADORED this book. It is "100 Days of Sunlight" by Abbie Emmons❤️ It is the sweetest, heart warming story and JUST PERFECTION ❤️ I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT 😍
hi there! malinda describes the book as “lesbian cinderella,” and it’s also a big part of the intros in the edition i have. personally, i read the romance with the faerie to be more one-sided on his part, but i know malinda has also said that the story and ash’s specific label is up for readers to interpret too
im literally obsessed with you and your account i found you the other day and i have never felt so cozy and safe, criminally underrated
ahh thank you so so much! 💗
Same! Also, thank you for recommending Karma, I'm obsessed! 🥰
