What is unbelieavable is that Quan Chi managed to win a sword fight against Kenshi, of all people.
It's perfectly believable in this game and during the year it came out.
Kenshi was more like Daredevil with a sword in the early days.
Now, he has all sorts of mystical powers from mind possession to telekinesis to flying and other weird powers.
But back then, he was a blind guy with a sword, essentially.
Guess he didn't see it coming...

I like how Stryker just immediatley decks Mileena out of nowhere. Always my favourite moment as a kid and it still is to this day.

The ONLY disappointing thing in the whole game for me, was that liu kangs character still used nun-chucks as his weapon, instead of the hook-chains
I friggin know!! I was expecting his moveset to have some crazy range or be unique with the chains to do some cool combos
The devs know that chains as a weapon would be VERY broken, just like Air Combos
It should've been implemented on a throwing animation or a fatality but hey they were lazy 🙁

I adore this intro. People usually under-estimate this game. MK Armageddon is still my favorite mk game: phenomenal intro, huge amount of fighters and arenas, interesting Konquest mode with Taven, intriguing Kreate-A-Fighter mode, amazing Motor Kombats, beautiful soundtrack, lovely Air combos
motor kombat could have been it's own game imo. It was so much fun

fact that shao kahn was kidnapped by onaga to the far away mountains and beats the latter and manages to make his way back to the pyramid and punch is way to blaze shows how much of bad-ass he is and that he deserves to be emperor
You have to assume that with mortal Kombat 9 intro
It honestly didn't make much sense to me, because Rayden, Quan chi, and Shand Tsung unleashed all of their power and couldn't even scratch Onaga. Which makes you wonder how Shao Khan could have survived, let alone beat Onaga.

@@We_Are_Borg_478 good question. Tbf tho, half the cast can teleport, so we could ask the same thing about raiden, scorpion, shang tsung, smoke, noob, etc. Lets just explain that away by them being blinded by their "insatiable bloodlust", maybe? 😅
This intro brings back memories of when MK lore was in a golden period. My favorite moments imo that really drew my attention were Onaga taking Shao Kahn away and Zombie Liu Kang returning to exact vengeance on Shang Tsung.
After Mk9 i felt like it the lore started to become less golden

I remember watching this intro for first time, I was pretty shocked and devastated at the undead Liu Kang because he’s my favourite character and before this game I was on a hiatus from MK games and the last one I played was MK4. It wasn’t until i finally played MK Deadly alliance and MK Deception did I find out how it happened.

10 year old me was freaking out every time this game started.
Jax had the best one liners.
Seeing Zombie Liu Kang for the first time was crazy as a kid. My brother and I lost our minds seeing my boy come back, even if not really him (alt costume fixed that). It would only be years after playing Armageddon that I'd find out Liu Kang was playable in Deception if you did a task in Konquest mode. I believe it's post game in EarthRealm on a Tuesday at some crazy early time. It unlocks Liu Kang as a master for Shujinko and makes Liu Kang playable.
The player also has to have trained with him before the chest will even appear.

I would love to believe that NRS are working extensively to recreate such a profound sequel to such a game like Armageddon. Image a modern day recreation of this story, after seeing how amazing the last few games from MK9 till MK1 (2023) have been so far

For me this was one of my favorites MK games beside D.A. and Deception. Beyond this for me this is also the las M.K. game. It's a shame when I saw the intro for M.K. 2011: Raiden and Shao Khan are the only survivors. Ok. But what about Taven. Why they need to change the story ? It's such a shame. Now we have remakes.... M.K. ended in 2006.
