This is great motivation to assemble prism number 2 & 3 that I bought last year when they were in stock for all of 30 minutes in Aus... The question is whether to do that before or after my new Skyweavers, all thanks to you :S
Awesome!! They play totally differently from Skyweavers. I guess the question is whether you need long range target elim, or scrappy mid board skirmishers
Hey Brent! Absolutely am eating up these unit focus videos. As a new Autarch, I always learn something new and valuable every time you release one of these. Side question: the GORGEOUS painting you used as a slide starting at about 21:06 - Where is this image from? I love it so much. Thanks a ton for what you do!
Thanks again for another great video! You're right about the invun problem, especially against things like big monsters or demons that often have an invun, they can be really swingy. Your idea to diversity the hard target elimination is an excellent idea. Another idea I'm going to try tonight is Shroud Runners for lethals, vypers to remove cover, and using the blast function. I'm running three prisms. Even against a single target monster, you're rolling 6D6 attacks, which averages out somewhere around 21 shots, 6 shot re-rolls with lethals and 6 wound rerolls, ignoring cover, they are making a lot of saves. Can't pass them all!
I dont own any prisms yet but I love the Falcon. I always pictured it as the Eldar version of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Decent firepower and light transport capabilities
I love fire prisms I really should get around to building mine. I think they’re actually better now because in previous editions linked fire said you had to hit the same target with every prism that does it but here in 10th this doesn’t seem to be the case
You the man! Just got my 2nd fire prism, ( I’ve only ever ran a night spinner until last week ), and dang it was fun. Necron opponent did not like it tho. But I’ve been wondering what kind of lists to put them in or how to use them to the best of their potential so as always, thanks so damn much for your videos
Good morning Brent (11am in the UK) hope you're well, still loving all the content you push out, thank you ✌🏻 Just had a quick one about the FP's linked fire rule, are you able to link through all 3? Say if you had one out front with visablity to a juicy target and a back FP that couldn't see this said FP but could see the middle FP that in turn can see the first? Can i then fire the back FP through the middle one and out the front? 😅 Hope that makes sense, peace and love and always. Chris ✌🏻💜
Hi Chris, Unfortunately, no. While the notion of Fire Prisms chaining their fire in that way makes narrative sense and is also objectively awesome, 10th Ed rules specify that you can determine LoS and range from the perspective of another FP that the first can see, not fire as though the first FP were the second, who h would make what you describe possible
Thanks Brent, it'd be so cool in reality to see these babies light up like beacons across a battle field 👍🏻 Maybe we'll some of that spice when out codex drops 😎
Fire prisms are great into land raiders, transports, etc. But really suck into things with invulns, and even worse into a C'Tan. Deff mixing these in with a unit of fire dragons in my list! Full 25% of my army to anti-tank!
Congrats! Your channel just works as a focused lance to my tactical ignorance! Two questions, you mention that it can re-roll 4 times the Hit and Wound, but with the detachment rule and the Crystal matrix I can only count 2 re-roll? Sounds I'm missing something obvious. The second, if you only play a 1000points game, would you include 1 of the fire prisms, losing the linked fire? Thank you for yor amazing content!
2 rerolls to hit and 2 to wound make four total per Prism- and nope, I would never take a single Prism. In 1k, I suggest other hard target elim- two DCannons for example :)
Overwatch + Fate dice is my new favourite combo. Most (if not all) other factions can't risk the CP firing big weapons on overwatch. Plus its a another phase to use a fate dice
I've just started running a squad of guardian defenders and I'm LOVING the extra fate dice each turn. With my farseer, I basically just use a fate dice every single phase an opportunity comes up.
I've been waiting for the FP to be back in stock in my neck of the woods. I have only one, the one I got in 3rd Ed with the old fat metal prism that keeps breaking off because its so heavy. My wife plays Necrons, really would like to field these cause the T13 Monolith is not a great time for bright lances. 😅
I popped a monolith turn 1 with fire prisms about six weeks ago and the ensuing blast from deadly demise essentially won me the game. Yeah, the stock issues with Aeldari stuff is an ongoing problem- at least half the line is usually unavailable, which is super frustrating. Have you tried the secondary market?
Im playing a match soon as a new eldar player. I know someones going to say you cant reroll a reroll, but this is two seperate rules right. Unit ability and detachment rule to help you reroll both shots once and both wounds once correct?
I systematically run a couple of Fire Prisms in my list. Necron players cannot let their monolith in the open or it will be erased from the board in one single shooting phase
Rules question on them. If one moves up to get plunging fire. Would a second fire prism shooting through it also get plunging fire? -5 ap is way better than -4 ap. I see 6s being rolled way too often. Isn’t this a more efficient way to use fire and fade if there is a terrain feature it can move up high on and comfortably balance like a big rock formation etc?
It's a great idea, but I don't think it works. Plunging Fire requires the model using it to be completely within the terrain feature, which means not only can the second Prism not use it, but the first will also struggle as it is pretty hard to put such a large model on the third floor of a ruin with no part of the tank poking externally over any outward edge of the ruin.
@@WBConcilio yeah, they are definitely solid hitters, and they have a significant psychological effect on the opponent. I'm not sure if I like them over falcons overall, but they definitely serve their purpose.
I'm one of those people who doesn't run Prisms. The requirement to use so much CP on them puts me off. Also the fact it's the one Eldar tank model that just doesn't look good to me. I ran Lynxes instead in 9th, but double Falcon, both with Fire Dragons, and a pair of War Walkers with Bright Lances have been working really well for me in 10th.

I was just looking at fire prism stats this morning
Great video as always. Thanks for the pointers. 👍🤘

Glad to know 2 is the optimal amount to run in a list since I just ordered 2 lmao

This is a great video! My local meta is a LOT of Imperial Guard lists with lots of tanks and baneblades.... SO.... lol 3 fireprisms locally it is.
No more than two 🤣

You forgot to talk about how the vyper helps to remove cover from their targets. Either removes 3+ saves to none, or brings 2+to a 6+.
I find the -4 on the lances generally doesn't need help from a Vyper, although it certainly doesn't hurt with the dispersed profile
@@WBConcilio I thought so too until I had a Monolith rolling out 4+ armor with cover and strat lol.

My number one gripe about fire prisms is that they are a huge footprint, taking up a lot of board space, and making them hard to hide
Also my number one gripe about them, but I have come back around after getting out ranged by some speedy contenders
