Thanks for watching and yes there is some great stuff there. He is known more for his Chic and later work but some cool tracks with them. Maybe I’ll do some more 🤔🎸
Don’t underestimate what 90s kids know for old-school music. I’d argue we’re the most music-savy generation, having integrated playlists across the board in both genre and era, from living through the birth of the digital sharing period.
Don’t worry, it was just my one and only attempt at humour, it won’t happen again 😉 I would agree that, as with all generations, many of you are indeed very savvy, but also plenty of sheep out there who will just listen to what Simon Cowell and now Tik Tok etc tells them to listen to. 🤷🏻♂️
Superb Lesson Luke :) always liked the way Nile encoporated the open string into his single string rhythm parts! I was listening recently to him do this on 'Higher Love' (1986) by Stevie windwood which has a cool Nile Rogers guitar part and would love to see a video demonstration/lesson on this.
Thanks Alex, really appreciate you watching. And I love Higher Love, I’d forgotten that he played on that too!! Will have to have another listen and see what I can do 🤞😎🎸
@@LukeBowmanGuitar that would be awesome Luke many thanks :-) Nile's parts on the pre chorus are particularly interesting and make use of the open strings in his grooves like you demonstrated in your excellent lesson! :) Hope you have a great day Luke! :)
It is always a pleasure, watching your videos!! I was wondering if you could make a video on how you transcribe music, and how you play by ear. I would very much like to learn how to play by ear and transcribe myself! Thanks you for the great content
Yeah, not sure why I called it that, maybe was the Guitar Pro suggestion and I just went with it 🤦🏻 listening to it now I would have probably called it an F#dim as that is what bass is playing and leads it back to Gm.
This is a brilliant lesson! Thanks very much! It seems churlish to suggest that a single coil guitar appears almost essential for this, and do I detect some fret buzz? So I will mention neither. It’s not as if either makes any difference to the quality of the lesson. 😀
Great tutorial! Thanks a bunch! Will surely have a lot of fun learning it. Any guidance on how did you figure out all of these riffs, chords and strumming patterns? Did you slow down the song or just kept hearing it and working your way through the neck until you got it right? I'm still learning and want to be able to figure out these songs on my own. Any advice on good guitar lessons?
Hey. Sorry I totally missed this comment 🤦🏻 it’s hard to say tbh. I have been playing over 40 years now so a lot is just instinct but yes I do slow it right down so I can hear each note in chord and what is going on. I am hoping to do some videos on my process at some point! Loads of good instructors out there with courses. Paul Davids, Justin Guitar etc.
Thanks man 👍 the backing track I purchased it from www.karaoke-version.co.uk once you but it (£1.99) you can amend the track to remove the guitars and any other parts 😎🎸
I’m not actually sure any more for this one as It was a couple of years ago. But for recording this kind of thing then usually direct into Logic (either from amp or using the Cory Wong Neural DSP plug-in) nice and clean, a fair bit of compression and maybe a little slap back delay.
This a good lesson, but I don't think Nile is playing the entire lick is palm muted at the bridge. Only on G string he palm mutes. the rest he slightly mutes with left hand while picking the strings really hard.
I feel the notation is misleading, since the measure starts with Gm, not with Cm7. I know the harmonic rhyhthm is strange, but the way it's written it gives the impression that the singing section starts at the third beat of the measure. It's a way harder way of understanding it. I know the drum roll takes two beats at the begining, but it's way easier and more correct to just think of it as a two beats measure roll (as the voices would come at beggining of the measure this way).
talks a lot, doesn't play the whole song, and makes it harder than it really is, try to keep it simple please 😮💨😮💨 play first and then explain, don't play explain play explain explain explain play a little bit and explain again 🥴
He takes the time to explain what he is doing as well as a ton of playing time. This is hands down the BEST video out there for this song and is 100 percent accurate. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this!
Nile Rodgers, the guy that introduced me to pick up the guitar all because of that iconic funky single note riff at the beginning!
You nailed it bruv!
Ah that’s cool man, such an iconic riff. . Thanks so much for watching 😎🎸
LUKE, YOU DON’T KNOW HOW I WAS LOOKING IN THE INTERNET FOR THAT LESSON, THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOVE YOUR WORK
Haha, you must have been sending me some vibes dude 😂😂 but that’s great and hope you enjoy it 😎🎸 thanks for watching
One of the greatest funk/dance electric guitar licks ever! Thanks for this
My pleasure. It is indeed an absolute classic 😎🎸
Sister Sledge and Nile Rodgers were and still are so influential and unfortunately don't get enough credit. Great cover, thanks for the lesson!

FINALLY! An instruction on how to play this song exactly as it's played by Nile Rogers on the record!
Thanks for watching and have fun with it 😎🎸

Proof you don't need a flurry of notes to write an iconic lick and groovy tune

Hey. I don’t know that one but looks like he is popular. Maybe check the reviews and see if looks like it would be good for you??

The single note part sounds off , there is a slight stop and a note that pops out .
