You can also use napa cabbage. Its a great yeast nutrients for sugar washes and is completely flavorless in the final distillation. The wash itself looks and smells and tastes like white wine but the distillate is completely neutral. I've done hundreds I use a simple recipe that's easily divisible for every 6litre of water is 10 gram bakers sugar tolerant yeast, 1kilo sugar and 100 gram napa cabbage For 18 liter wash 18 litre water 3 kg sugar 300g napa cabbage 30g sugar tolerant bakers yeast (I use angle yeast) If you use raw cane sugar the end product will be sweet like a white rum Try it
@@lukewaltgod it actually doesn't matter, I've done both whole or blended with same results. But I've been blending up the leaves in a little water and adding to the hot water and sugar mixture in the beginning, before topping off with cold water and yeast
I'll boil 1/3 total amount of water, add sugar then the napa cabbage "smoothy" stir then top off with the rest (2/3) cold water ,usually the temp will be about 35c if not I'll let it sit and wait until the temp is 35c then add yeast mixture stir. Got one now fermenting.. Our Temps here are about 25-30c every day . So it ferments out in a week . I Do one every week
@@andrewclark1730 over on my channel I go through the fermentation and distillation process in detail. Breaking it down is simple, for a starting gravity of 1.050. 1 kg sugar x 6 liters water x 10gram yeast x 100 gram nappa cabbage (as a yeast nutrient) So , for 24-25 litres of water 4 kg sugar, 40 gram yeast , 400 gram nappa cabbage (as yeast nutrient) Use good water not tap water Edit: this has been my go to for years,it's never failed, it's easy, cheaper than everything else, the napa cabbage is tasteless and only $1 and provides all the vitamin and minerals needed to feed the sugar wash. I've done it more than thousand runs . Use good raw sugar for best tasting results
Hi. Love uour vids. Learn a lot from you. Q..Birdwatchers sugar wash.on 40 lt water say 112gm yeast. They dont say what type of yeast ie bread or brewers yeast. My brewers yeast say one must use 1gm per 1x lt of water. Thus 40gm brewers yeast? .Its a big differance in amount of yeast. Which one must I follow you recon..?? Thx Munro from sunny South Africa.
It can scorch to your element or to the bottom if you use gas if the wash is not clear. Stills with an oil jacket as a heat source doesn't required any clearing.
I swear by this wash recipe.no need with massive costs home brew shops slug ya with all part a part b.add this add that shit.this work s fantastic in turbo 500 stihls cost about $12 including sugar tomato paste stock yeast from ya local supermarket.tge cheapest tomato all tomato paste .if you won't to do you can add a gelatine mix few teaspoons in to settle it .but no need .this runs through Stihl perfectly you get ya 3.5 litres off 93 percent then dilute.its beautiful.
I do this quite often. Easy simple and makes a good amount of vodka

Thanks, I used turbo yeast, but the bread yeast will work 100%, just use a bit more.
pitch yeast at 82 degrees F? why so low?
Do you need to clear the wash before running it through the still or can you just put it through the still once fermentation has finished?
