Naturally, I was most concerned about Luffy. In my head I just couldn’t think of anyway they’d find someone who would be able to portray the cartoonish energy he exhibits. But daaaaamn. I’m almost 100% sold just from the short clip alone I was just so impressed. I may be counting my chickens before they hatch here, but I’m very excited to see more of the actor playing Luffy. Quite frankly I think his accent is going to elevate the performance. I’m keen to see what his range will be. The goofier parts of Luffy he’s gonna nail no doubt, but up curious to see him in a more serious action sequence. Luffy can switch from goofy to borderline intimidating when he’s in a real fight, so I want to see those sequences being pulled off as well. Looking forward to more incoming relating to OP live action! Keep up the awesome work Randy!
I would also like to add that even the voice actors needed to find the type of "voice" they attributed to the characters in the beginning. I hope most give it a chance and not forcibly think they should sound 1 to 1 from the anime.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more sold on an actor after seeing so little of them like I have with Iñaki playing Luffy. Literally two seconds into the first clip when he went from interested/excited to utter disappointment seemed like such a Luffy thing to do. Am I the only one who thinks that? I really hope we get more of that in his performance.
Yes I feel like he is perfect, he seems so physical and he has a really fitting face, and he can emote so well! The role of Luffy must have been so difficult to cast, I feel like that they must have gone through a lot of auditions before finding someone who not only looks like Luffy but also is this talented!
That Sanji poster is why I didn't regret subscribing to you Man🤣🤣🤣 I can already tell this would gonna be great. I'll wait for this. Go, Ran D. Troy. Give us amazing analysis like always.
This cast keeps giving me chills! I can't believe it's real!! Jacob is absolutely going to steal the show during Syrup Village, Taz and Mackenyu's energy makes me look forward to how their rivalry is gonna form over the course of the show, and the dynamic between Inaki and Jacob is gonna be a joy to watch!! My only concern was how Taz would pull off Sanji's humorous side, like he totally captures the suave chef side of Sanji but I'd love to see how loose he can get when it comes to those "NAMI-SWAAANNN" scenes haha
I think those scenes might actually be super funny with Taz. Which usually I hate those scenes, but with someone who is naturally suave and without the visual short hand of the hearts and the flailing, I think they might actually be hilarious.
Gotta say, having Taz’s photo be a picture is big brain. Everyone is basing his casting based off that one picture of him and saying he’d be a bad Sanji but every OTHER cast is good. His pic is cursed. Just like Sanji’s. I mean I’m here for the Emeniem memes though.
In this live action I can see them changing sanji from preving on women to him just being a very big flirt which I am fine with. Although it would interfere with him wanting invisibility later on so they will have to adjust it a bit.
His motivation for being invisible will be even better without the pervyness. If we just get him saying that he always wanted the invisibility fruit since he was a kid, it will feel mysterious. But when we get to whole cake, it will click that he always wanted to disappear. Also, based on the most recent chapter, invisibility may literally be in his genes.
I honestly think you're one of the best One Piece channels. By far. You deserve to be way bigger and I hope this Netflix series help with your growth. Been watching you since you started on Yt. Your videos covering actors and cinematography stuff is always 10/10.
After watching all the content in Iñaqui’s Instagram, I’m 100% convinced he was born to be Luffy. He’s worked with some very big names in Hispanic entertainment and based on the clips there, he has never been intimidated by them, yet he shows respect. It looks like he has been trained for physical rolls since a very early age (nothing too extreme but it shows his serious and physical side). The level of prep he has done for some rolls show his dedication. Everybody that talks about him only has great things to say, in one of the clips the director of one of his projects even calls him “a gift of life, a godsent who always puts a smile on everybody’s faces”. And I’m telling you, that kid can give you a mean stare down. All in all, he seems to have the perfect levels of humor, confidence, heart, dedication, and steadfastness that we expect on an actor portraying the Pirate King 🏴☠️
I think Nami being played by a true-blooded One Piece fan is far more important that people may realize. Nami is the heart of the crew, basically the second-in-charge later on. But during East Blue, in particular, Rudd knowing so much about Nami will bring out a _lot_ of emotional moments that would _never_ have otherwise worked if someone else - who wasn't such a fan - was cast. Honestly, the Nami casting is by far the biggest win for me. All the others seem great, but Nami needed to be a particular kind of perfect for East Blue and casting Emily Rudd proves that they know _exactly_ what they're doing with this show, and it's got me all kinds of excited.
mackenyu always uses method acting. when he was casted as enishi for rurouni kenshin, he actually did something to get the voice of his character. and when he was casted for jojo bizarre, he actually studied and embodied his character that even during the press conference of the movie, he answered the host's questions in his character's manner. i am really excited to know how he will prepare for this role knowing he's not into drinking 😂😂😂😂 nonetheless, i am excited to see him as zoro.
He's already doing it probably. He probably was dozing off before making the video on Zoro hence he looked almost unhappy when introducing himself lmao
I really hope all these people leaving hate comments on the promotion for this eat their own words when this show becomes what it's supposed to be... Ik it might not become as great as the anime or manga, but it doesn't need to be. And in so looking forward to this. So far nothing has actually disappointed me. In fact I been way better than what I was hoping for(which wasn't much seeing as live actions dont exactly have a good rep) Also, water 7 Usopp is gonna break my heart again!!...
That was the exact scene in Fear Street that I KNEW Emily was the only one for Nami. That arc was THE ONE that grabbed so many people (myself included) and inspired them to keep going with the story and it’s going to be such an important scene towards the end of season 1. She’s gonna slay that role. And the boy’s walk to Arlong Park is gonna be phenomenal. My growing affections for this cast is getting astronomically out of control and I’m so excited for more upcoming news. 🥰
I think an underrated part of this becoming a long running series made over the next 10+ years is that it's going to feel like far more of an epic because the actors will be growing up too in real time, Iñaki is 18 now but he'll be in his 30s by series end.
And honestly I'm cool with the story being set over 10 years as opposed to 2, they can just say they do a lot of cover-art style adventuring in between arcs and it's all good. As long as they nail the personalities!
Yeah I agree with that. We kinda get the same thing with odas slight changes in his art style. Just compare chapter 1 luffy to chapter 1000 luffy he lookes alot more mature. But with the live action it will be even bigger. Man I cant wait to look at a 30 year old luffy and then look back at him at 18 years old
Not to mention the Going Merry is a Caravel which only goes at most 8 knots compared to what's in the article, which can go 20 knots. And Luffy is definitely in it for recreation more than anything.
I know Sanji is supposed to be French. But man, that English accent is just perfect for a suave gentlemen like character, who also has his cool James Bond moment and is of a royal bloodline. Please keep the accent Oda.
The only thing about Sanji that's French is his smoking habit. British just makes more sense for the character in general, because that actually fits what we know about Sanji.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 yes it is your mistake for not knowing that “chef” is short for chef de cuisine which is French for chief of the kitchen also for not knowing that the term sous chef is also french for under the chief my point was that the French are known for their cuisine which is why a lot of cooking terms are french so stop trying to act like a smartass
@@dontmisunderstand6041 I think Oda's basis for sanji as originally being french is like lumiere from beauty and the beast, suave, funny, and flirtatious.. But Oda is also incharged of this project so I trust his judgement with taz pulling off suave and being crazy with the ladies..
HUGE emphasis on Randy’s words at the end! This is supposed to be a new way to get people into the series. Exactly and they could also cut a few things out like for example at alabasta( if they get to s2) there are many df users but the ones who are actually important to the story are mr 3,2 1 and croco boy, they can make the rest just normal fighters to safe the budget etc pla the humor should not be 1 to 1 the same coz it will sound cringe af
@@gamingparadise3390 idk depending on their pacing they could include everything in Alabasta as it is one of the least complicated arcs by far. The most I could say is to remove Whiskey Peak and have the crew meet Vivi and Igaram on another island! If they did that I think it could work to keep the rest of the saga in! That’s just my take on it tho yours makes sense too!
Chittyx2 Bangx2 Well they can’t really remove Zoro vs 100 Baroque Works Bounty Hunters or Luffy vs Zoro. You wanna die to the swarm of Zoro fanboys?? And they are really too cool scenes for them to be removed
@@vermelliwoolf8889 lmao well I mean it’s live action anyway I wasn’t expecting them to find 100 ppl to become fodder just for ONE arc. I genuinely love these picks and the whole team behind this project, cannot wait to see this out on Netflix, and to introduce all my non-anime friends to the greatness of One Piece.
Mackenyu looks like an amazing swordman already, my concern with him is that he has one of the 3 big emotional moments of the east blue and I havent seen anything from him in that aspect. I was a bit on the fence with Iñaki, not because of his acting skills but because the greatness of Luffy. Randy convinced me that the guy has to make it his own and make it feel natural. Great video!!

I'm truly excited for this live action. I have faith in oda, Matt owens, tomorrow studios and the cast. I have confidence that the cgi and special effects will be great. And see those clips gave me more confidence in the cast as well
The good thing about this project is that all the decision makers are fan of the manga/anime and have actually read it. The producer , show runner, writer and oda has also a say in it. So i have no doubt about the script , only issue is gonna be the cgi( which is not that big od a deal if you have a big budget which I believe this show should have) and thr acting(I have faith in mackenyu, emily and taz and jacob but the one acting as luffy is yhe only one which makes me worried
I just found out that Mackenyu's father used to play in the Kill Bill movies the swordsmith Hatori Hanso his name was Shin'ichi Chiba (he unfortunately passed away in August) he also played in the Tokyo drift movie of the fast and furious series
I love their energy haha! What you said at the end, one piece saved people's lives... When I was in highschool my dad got cancer, when I was told I went to my room and had this childhood memory of this silly kid in a straw hat in day care come to mind. I spent hours trying to remember the name. And I learnt about anime and one piece was my first one. I binged it every day.. and luffy taught me that I don't have to feel defeated by certain things in life, I can change my attitude and always bounce back. One piece 100% set my life in a different direction, sure I used it as escapism from reality. But I think it was nessesary at that time in my life. And now it's my all time favourite show, and I feel like apart of the crew

I teared up from the first showcase clip of Taz. Somehow caught the emotion. I think he is going to do great! Can't wait for everyones highlight moments.
I don’t think ageing particularly matters since time between arcs can sometimes feel pretty ambiguous in One Piece. If they don’t come out and say pre-timeskip was less than a year, the casual audience might assume it was longer.
I'm pretty sure any series/films had been seen sceptical, that's quite normal. But I do look forward to the final result. I think Sanji looks very fitting. Can't wait for the curly brow and his blonde bangs. Wish they could somehow keep his heart eyes. 😍

I am so happy that I have seen more praise than hate so far! That's not the usual reaction to a live action cast announcement but it seems people are being very understanding
The first scene from Taz is perfect for whole Cake sanji. If the series makes it that far I definitely wouldn’t be surprised if Taz was nominated for best supporting actor for the whole cake arc
Hearing him in Spanish, as a Spanish speaker myself and as a LARGE one piece fan. I think he's excellent for the part. His goofiness and comfortablness in these clips are really good, especially when he became a little serious in other clips it's good! ❤
How do you not have more comments and likes?! This video was perfect. I even cried when I saw Taz’s acting, he is perfect. I haven’t even finished watching the video and im so hypeeee
The most important thing we should expect is that it's going to be something different, this is not going to be an adaptation from the anime. The anime is a close to 1:1 representation of the manga, translating from the manga to the anime is an organic process. For the Netflix adaptation we should expect changes, mostly for stuff that can't be done in real life (or it's extremely expensive) like switching places/perspectives and portraying "magic". Also, they are working with VERY young people, all of them with incredibly different levels of experience and come from very different cultures! This will mostly be hard for the director, but my guess is that they are betting on the "organic interactions" that they might have based on their profile/personality. It's going to be a titanic task, hopefully Netflix sees the potential behind this project and provides enough resources, especially considering THIS has the potential to be a game changer, remember that superhero movies like the ones from Marvel and DC used to be trash compared to their source material, adaptations comparable to Dragon Ball Evolution, until one day they weren't bad anymore.
Well I dont see the director having much issues with emeily , raz and mackeny coz they are fairly experienced, real issue would be inaki and maybe Jacob
So far, I'm happy! This is keeping as close to the story as necessary whilst still keeping it as much its own thing that it needs to be as a live action.
The clips introducing Inaki confirmed that he'd be able to pull off the comedic energy, and the clips you shared helped show he'll likely be able to pull of the more serious scenes. My favorite scenes with Luffy are ones where he just does that seemingly blank but really focused stare. I know it won't be AS good in live action, but I'm hoping they can find a way to still bring some of that energy where he just stares at someone/something and you just get chills knowing that someone has just crossed a line that shouldn't be crossed.
This channel is underrated. You deserve more subscriber tho, your videos are great. Not only giving your opinion but showing us what you meant by that. And i love it!
I just want for all the cast is, don't screw up. Because this is a big deal, One Piece is really a big series and also the fandom. I just want for all the cast is portray their characters well. There's gonna be no problem in other stuff like action scenes, the places, hopefully the music is good, obviously there's gonna be some CGI effects with the attacks. But the real concern is for all the cast doing the characters. Acting is really important Especially for the actor with Luffy - Iñaki Godoy. Luffy is a goofy, reckless character but also cares about the crew because he is the captain. And also, the interactions within the crew. That's really a big thing, Luffy and Usopp comedy stuff, Zoro and Sanji banter/fighting each other but cares each other like brothers
dayum the OST added for the emily's clip is on point. If we even get to Enel, I think we can get the real slim shady. also i hope they like do the baka song justice
I’m really excited for what the live action does with Syrup Village. I love Usopp, but he has by far the weakest introduction arc and most forgettable flashback of the entire crew. I really think the live action will have a serious opportunity to restructure it to make it better. However I’m also concerned about child actors. In East Blue, a lot of the emotional moments are in the flashbacks and will have to be carried by child actors.
I mean, ironically enough, I think Netflix has a good track record with casting younger stars, I mean just look at Stranger Things. I think that, if the main cast is able to hold themselves, I'm not so worried about the secondary cast.
Idk, a lot of the new readers seemed to like Usopp's back story. I get the criticisms behind it but maybe it's a small vocal minority that doesn't like it (which is fine) or we compare it too much to the larger/bigger arcs in OP.
@@jordanvance1657 You really can... the only things that are actually relevant to his backstory are being an orphan with an absentee father, and specifically his relationship with Kaya. Literally everything else vital to his character can be re-worked in a way that better fits the story and pacing. Even his relationship with Kaya doesn't necessarily have to be there, Kaya as a character doesn't even have to be there, she's just a vehicle to allow the Straw Hats to get a ship, and it's the connection to that ship that actually makes a difference for Usopp. Which, when it comes down to it, the emotional core of the scenes where Usopp's connection to the ship are relevant has nothing to do with Kaya at all, and everything to do with his own feelings of inadequacy and fears of abandonment. In short, yes, you absolutely can restructure Usopp's backstory, and it would be relatively easy to do so in a way that *only* improves upon One Piece as a whole.

@@chinhoewong He's the Real Sanji
@@cameronjs222 " he always wanted to disappear" that would resonate way more with audiences more than the pervy reason, 100%. im manifesting this.
I honestly think you're one of the best One Piece channels. By far. You deserve to be way bigger and I hope this Netflix series help with your growth. Been watching you since you started on Yt. Your videos covering actors and cinematography stuff is always 10/10.
Appreciate that Petar 🤙🏴☠️
13:52 his facial reactions are immaculate so much luffy vibes. The way he mvoves and how every motion has intent meaning, he’s perfect
mackenyu always uses method acting. when he was casted as enishi for rurouni kenshin, he actually did something to get the voice of his character. and when he was casted for jojo bizarre, he actually studied and embodied his character that even during the press conference of the movie, he answered the host's questions in his character's manner.
i am really excited to know how he will prepare for this role knowing he's not into drinking 😂😂😂😂 nonetheless, i am excited to see him as zoro.

Chrissy and I watched Fear Street and when that scene happened we both turned to each other and said "Yep!"
@@RandyTroy lol you know what they say about great minds, sir
I swear when the walk to Arlong park happens the show and actors are going to trend online for how badass it is and they need the music no matter what
I think an underrated part of this becoming a long running series made over the next 10+ years is that it's going to feel like far more of an epic because the actors will be growing up too in real time, Iñaki is 18 now but he'll be in his 30s by series end.
Man I cant wait to look at a 30 year old luffy and then look back at him at 18 years old
Omg just imagine Sabaody or Marineford its gonna be an emotional feels trip if they get it right.
Not to mention the Going Merry is a Caravel which only goes at most 8 knots compared to what's in the article, which can go 20 knots. And Luffy is definitely in it for recreation more than anything.
It's going to get cancelled after the first season for being trash
"Inaki has a good energy as Luffy, but can he portray Luffy's serious/intimidating side?"

I actually kind of see it 🤔🤔🤔
I know Sanji is supposed to be French.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 also the cooking and sanji’s moves are all in French
@@GojoDKai My mistake, I forgot that cooking has only ever existed in France. How silly of me.

This could get ppl to start reading this manga or watching the anime after season 1 if done right!
If you’re a diehard fan expecting a 1:1 adaptation you’re looking in the wrong place lol
Favorite’s so far definitely have to be Emily and Mackenyu it’s like they were BORN for the roles. The rest already fit but I’m gonna need some more time to warm up to their roles yk? But so far seeing all good things! Cant wait till we get a trailer!
The point of the bounty hunters was to test his sword and establish that crocodile’s already aware of them and while I love that scene idk if there’s enough time, budget, and energy to shoot Mackenyu fighting 100 ppl. But if they kept it AND it was good I’d definitely be impressed

I LOVE the energy! I was so excited to find out Emily is a One Piece fan. I've been following their social media since the announcement and they are adorable!

Perfect casting. Couldn't have asked for a better casting, at least visually. I am very optimistic about this project.
I’m so excited for what Godoy can bring to Luffy. If Oda approved of this kid, there’s clearly something to him.
I just found out that Mackenyu's father used to play in the Kill Bill movies the swordsmith Hatori Hanso his name was Shin'ichi Chiba (he unfortunately passed away in August) he also played in the Tokyo drift movie of the fast and furious series

I don’t think ageing particularly matters since time between arcs can sometimes feel pretty ambiguous in One Piece. If they don’t come out and say pre-timeskip was less than a year, the casual audience might assume it was longer.

E.x.a.c.t.l.y.

Casting so good I can't even choose who my favorite is
I just want for all the cast is, don't screw up.
Acting is really important
Especially for the actor with Luffy - Iñaki Godoy.
You can't restructure ussops backstory though
@@dontmisunderstand6041 kaya is kinda importan lol she is ussops future wife lol. She cares for him.
