- It's time to talk about my years-long mission to read every Stephen King book in publication order. Oh, and some books by some guy called Richard Bachman too.
I've made a little progress, but still have a long way to go! Here I talk through my thoughts on the Stephen King books I've read so far, and what I'll be reading next.
Books discussed:
Carrie
'Salem's Lot
The Shining
Rage
Night Shift
The Stand
The Long Walk
The Dead Zone
Firestarter
Roadwork
Danse Macarbe
Cujo
The Running Man
The Bachman Books
The Gunslinger / The Dark Tower
Creepshow
Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
Apt Pupil
The Body
The Breathing Method
Different Seasons
Christine

Apologies for the odd crop on this video! I’ll get it rectified for next time.
I haven't read much King besides the dark tower but that's the series that got me into reading again.
That's great to hear. I'm really looking forward to getting into the series properly.
Really interesting to hear about all the Stephen King books you've read so far! I haven't read any yet but really want to... the weekend before last I spotted a copy of The Green Mile in a local charity shop, it was in great condition and I was really drawn to the cover, but as I already had picked up three other books in the previous charity shops I'd been in that morning, I decided I'd behave myself, set a good example of self-restraint for my daughter who was with me and leave it... That was a bad decision. I regretted it all week, so I hurried back this Saturday just gone, convinced it would still be there but alas, it had gone! The hunt continues! Have a great week :o)
Oh no, how frustrating! I hope another copy turns up somewhere for you soon!
Awesome video! You own so many wonderful editions. The Long Walk is my favorite from The Bachman Books, absolutely chilling. He also wrote the book as a student. Skeleton Crew is my favorite of all his collections but Night Shift does have some terrifying tales. The Stand is in my top 5 novels of all time. The Dark Tower is my favorite series of all time, will be giving it a re-read soon. The series really takes off from book 2 and 3. I would love to get hold of that Creepshow comic book, the movie is so much fun. I wish you well on the rest of your Stephen King adventure! You can definitely get excited for Pet Sematary, probably his darkest book.
Thanks so much for watching! I’d be interested to know what else is up there with The Stand for you. I’m really looking forward to getting properly going with The Dark Tower and I hope against hope I enjoy it as much as you clearly do. I will enjoy getting to Skeleton Crew too!
@@playingcatchuptwitch I think my top three are: The Stand, The Shining and IT. Have you ever heard of Robert McCammon? Swan Song, which I think is often unfairly seen as a rip off The Stand, is my favorite novel of all time. I have read about 60+ books by King so I cannot talk about everything, but I will say keep going Constant Reader.
@@CliffsDarkGems I will check out Swan Song for sure. Thanks for the recommendation!
