Hoi! I'm Sanne. Ten years ago I moved from the Netherlands to London, where I'm currently working as a freelance social media producer in the publishing industry, event host and content creator. I've been making videos for 13 years and on my channel I talk about books, translation, the publishing industry, London, travel, plus career and creativity advice. ◦ Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Lit at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and have lots of American friends. Now that I live in London, I still mostly have my American accent, but with lots of British vocab mixed in.

I currently live in St Albans, just North of London.

I’m a Freelance Social Media Producer, public speaker and TH-camr/blogger. Before that I was an Audience Manager at Penguin Random House UK.
◦ How did you get your job in the publishing industry?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running my TH-cam channel for 8 years. P.s. you don't necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing.

I’d be interested in hearing your take on the shocking news that they have been censoring Roald Dahl’s work and on a very big scale. Not just deleting and altering words but even *adding* whole sentences to put things ‘in context’ for new prints they are releasing from now on.
Do you think British authors have the courage to collectively start a campaign against this hostility against literature/ art?
And what’s next?

There’s something so satisfying at seeing the number go down. I’ve got 436 on mine currently and you’ve inspired me to try to get it down to 400
I just went through my Goodreads list and cleaned out a lot of books. I kept going back in and getting rid of old books that were added when I first joined Goodreads. 2011 is just a little old. I wanted to concentrate on the books I have read and books I already have.
I was so excited to see Pew on your wishlist! It's a really short but poignant exploration of gender, race and societal norms that is a sort of retelling of a Ursula Le Guin short story and I haven't seen anyone else read it before. Would highly recommend ☺️

I want to like StoryGraph, but it’s just too frustrating to use in the way I need.
I do not understand why everyone hates on Artemis. 😩 It's one of my favorite books of all time and my favorite Andy Weir book. It also has a fantastic audio book! I definitely need to do a clear out I have...over a thousand books on my TBR on goodreads!
I recently read Ready Player One, there was a lot of 80's pop culture references that went over my head but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I loved Artemis, it was one of my favorite books of last year, the only negative thing I can say about it is that it takes place during an unrealistically short time span.
I ended up watching the film for Ready Player One first, and I know you shouldn't judge a book by its film, but it was enough for me to know I'm not currently interested in reading it.
Iiiiiii should really do the same with my own "want to read" shelves 😅
What a great idea, I’ll be doing this tonight! Also, I’m not a huge fan of WWII books either but I will say All the Light We Cannot see stands out for me because of the mystery/magical realism elements. Just in case you or anyone else is on the fence about it - it isn’t just a super heavy, trauma-centered book.

Surprised to see I'm the King of the Castle by Susan Hill on your TBR list! My class read it for our lit GCSE and I don't think anyone had much positive to say. From what I remember the writing was fine (probably quite good really) but the story was just rather upsetting. Hopefully if you do read it you find it more enjoyable than we did!

600? Oh no, that is WAY too much, however did that happen, I'd NEVER! 😱 (Just kidding, my TBR currently has 588 books, though I haven't added them all to StoryGraph yet, I'm pretty new there.)

Quick question: is there a possibility on Storygraph to add books and editions as a regular user? Goodreads doesn't allow it anymore, and I own and read a bunch of Serbian indie books that are not on there.
I read Conversion and really disliked it bc it was so dissapointing

I just checked and I have 2250 books on my Storygraph tbr.. half of which I am sure I'll never even want to pick up. 🥲 When I started getting into reading again I would just add every book I saw to my tbr without even checking the synopsis so it's all just a mess honestly.. and at this point I just think it's gotten too out of hand for me to do anything about it 😭 (edit: i got it down to 2205 and I'll probably have to continue removing books everyday 😴)
