    Artist Name: Hazel Watson
Song Title: To Those Who'll Inherit the Earth
    About the entry:
The idea for this song first came about when I attended 'Singing with Nightingales' run by the folk singer Sam Lee, an enchanting and emotionally-laden experience in which guests are guided through the woods by moonlight to listen to musicians duet with a nightingale. This culturally significant bird will be extinct in this country within a few decades, a fact which provoked a lot of the themes of the song. Shortly after this, I attended my youngest sibling's school musical and watched as all these talented young people exhibited their potential and hope, just starting out at the brink of adulthood with a world ahead of them. I couldn't help but wonder, in the light of the climate and biodiversity crises, how different life might be for these young people in a few decades. The song was an outlet for pain and anger, but, however, ends on a hopeful note; raising our voices alongside the voices of nature, revering the cycles of life and death, and celebrating the power of hope, connection and commitment.
I was so delighted by the serendipity of my duet partner serenading us in all the right moments when I recorded this in the Lake District!

    pFITE24:
You may have caught our pilot pFITE series which aired in Spring 2023. We were delighted with the engagement this project generated, and so this year we aim to take things up a level. By unearthing more great talent and reaching an even wider audience, we hope to spark positive discussion on something we should all be passionate about - the environment. This year, whilst using the pFITE name, we will be accepting entries from any, and all, genres or music.
By joining this project, you will have access to all that Home Stage has to offer, with specialists in production, promotion and business. With experienced professional musicians on the team, we understand the needs of up-and-coming artists, and how to elevate your profile.
As we start to receive more and more entries, we will be organising events around the country for our artists to appear at. At Home Stage, we are only looking to cover our costs. Any profits we receive will be shared between the performers, with the very best being invited to showcase their talents at a final performance in a national venue.
The pFITE24 entry with the greatest number of likes will receive a prize of £10,000. Please note that only videos within our “pFITE24 - Entries” TH-cam playlist are eligible for the prize. Don’t forget to like and share your favourites!
