Nexus 7 Factory Data Reset Backup & Restore

- How to factory reset & restore google nexus 7 android tablet to factory settings. Hard reset the nexus 7 2013 using the android, backup & reset settings menu. This allows you to do a factory data backup and then a full erase, all data will be wiped from your mobile device. All apps and their data will be erased from your device. Data that is stored and saved in your Google Account will be restored once you sign back into your Google account and sign back into apps that require a sign in.
1) Go to Settings
2) Choose Backup & reset
3) Touch Factory data reset.
4) Touch Reset tablet.
5) If your tablet is password protected you'll have to enter your Pattern PIN or Password.
6) Touch Erase everything to confirm.

Thank you for the help on this video! Although, I'm wondering if you can explain how to copy your music, photos, videos etc from your Nexus 7 onto your PC. So that it won't MOVE it from your tablet to the PC, but will just copy it over in case you have to perform a hard factory reset?

I'm wondering if you have had any problem withj your Google Nexus 7 going into a compleatly black screen mode and doesn't want to turn on even if it has been fully charged.
Hi, No Mine is working ok. I don't have that issue. I'm not sure if you tried to hard reset it but I would watch both of my hard reset videos and try that. Just back up your stuff first. If that don't work that might mean you may actually have a hardware problem.
Well i tried everythign, I tried what Asus had on their suport page i opened the back of the nexus and checked if it was the battery but it wasn't that either and i even tried the hardreset. Literally nothing has worked this far.
omisuookami hi, maybe you already solved it or figured it out by yourself. I had the same issue and what you have to do is to plug your nexus to your pc, then press the turn on button for 45 seconds and "voila" it will turn on =)
I have a 2013 Nexus 7 with 32GB for 2 months. On the last Sunday it did not come up. I followed your way by pressing the power button. A Google logo came up and then a X. The X continued circulated around but the device did not boot up. Please help. Thanks.
Try it one more time. Make sure you do it exactly as I do it so you can enter fast boot mode in the boot loader. Sometimes you have to do it a couple of times to get in there. Make sure you do it starting with your tablet off. There is another way to do it using the usb debug mode. That requires additional steps and downloading the ADT bundle and using a few commands.

I cant get to that screen because its locked and I don't have access to the tablet
Camron Carrothers You have to turn the tablet off first. Then use the key commands to start it up into fastboot mode then you can fix it. Turn it off first. Then hold down the power button and the volume down key at the same time. I have other videos on my channel that show how to do this.

How is anybody with a frozen screen supposed to follow this video? The very reason I want to factory restore is because my screen is frozen obviously. Very frustrating.

Watched that video and I still can't get the touchscreen to work! I'm at the welcome screen but it just won't allow me touch the options and move forward. Any ideas? Thanks for the help so far. Very disappointing as I bought this in New York and live in Ireland so I'll probably not be able to send it back.
