Love the insect crown of roaches artifact/deity. I have an insect cult temple buried under my regional capital, temple of Coleoptra the many eyed goddess of swarming insects and decay. This could help flesh that out and empower the priestess. I like the idea that dying wizards may create some sort of magical manifestation. Really like the adventurer's almanac.
Nice vid. I really like the last one. I often like to put my players in the middle or start of a tournament or festival the town is hosting. It makes for a lot of interesting NPCs and lack of good security for shenanigans😊
Not sure why you limit your titles to "OSR". It's like your purposely trying to limit your viewership. These things are just as useful for people that play 5E. If you're wanting to expand the reach OSR or rules light 5e (such a Shadowdark or FTD) you should try too get the entire D&D community to watch your videos. Love the channel and thanks for the videos.
Yeah, that's a fair point. I guess I do think of these as primarily OSR facing - 5e...well, it doesn't tend to lean into the wacky-gonzo as much. At least in my experience.
@@RedMageGM I really like your channel but I think you'd get more play if you just titled it "D&D". OSR IS D&D after all, no matter what they Witches of the Coast think. And, frankly many of these things you post are just as relevant to someone running 5e. Professor DM does a good job of disguising that his brand of D&D is "grimdark", not truly OSR, but certainly not big bloated 5/5.5E. His adventures are all old school Basic or AD&D modules. We need people leading the a new generation INTO the OSR or rules lite 5e games.
@@NemoOhd20you do make a good point. But maybe he wants to grow his channel more “organically “ than by working the algorithm. You and I found his channel just fine after all. No right or wrong way to go about it.
@@NemoOhd20 I agree that it doesnt need to say OSR, but why say just D&D?? That is also unnecessarily limiting the number of games that videos like this can be useful. I think there are a lot of people that ignore "D&D" when it comes up in video titles because they so often deal directly with aspects of 5e and other D&D rulesets. Maybe a more useful title would be "3 Fonts of Inspiration for Your Next Fantasy RPG Campaign" or something along those lines? Also, I am no expert on OSR, but I thought "OSR" was not just referencing D&D but it was more about the larger idea of how to approach RPGs back in the old school days compared to how so many are nowadays? I think games like Mörk Borg are considered "OSR" because of how it approaches gaming, but it clearly is not D&D.
@@Miskatonic1927 Because D&D is like 95% of the market. It's sort of the youtube game that Professor DM and some of those larger websites that actually prefer rules lite games.

It's like the beginning of Chrono Trigger - nice and relaxing festival, where nothing could go possibly go wrong...
