    I could go on and on about Phillip Seymour Hoffman in this scene. That he was able to include so much detail in a two-minute scene is amazing. Some of my favorite all-time comic acting.

      I honestly think PSH forgot his next line because the repetition isn’t in the script so he just repeated it but the coens kept it in because it makes it seem like Brandt has this speech memorised as he’s done it with all of Lebowskis guests hahaha

    This movie has some of (if not the best) small talk in any movie. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like a movie. It just feels like two people are talking and someone’s filming them.

    PSH steals this scene. He was the best. The uncomfortable ticks, repeating himself, tugging at his tie. I don’t think anyone could have done it better.

    Hoffman could play anything, he was so damn memorable in this movie I wouldn't ever be able to even begin imagine playing a character that straight next to bridges killing every scene

    lol i love how Brandt comes back to "This was taken when Mrs. Reagan" 15 seconds later after being interrupted just to emphasize that Lebowski took the pic with her when she was first lady of the US not just California

      if you look at what he says, it still makes sense. Necessary means for a necessary means. Like he’s saying that they don’t have the job to make the money to have a higher education. It sounds weird but it functions
