I just went through my notes for my bbq sauce recipe and I either wrote it in one of my journals that are packed away or erased it from my phone. This one looks close to mine. I just add a couple more ingredients and maybe my ratios are different. Thank you for this solid base recipe!!! Now I’m off to recreate my recipe🙄
Ran out of BBQ sauce this afternoon and didn't feel like running to the store.... I made this recipe up and WOW!! Love the tangy taste and just a hint of heat from the spices... Only things I didn't have on hand was the celery seeds and the liquid smoke. The neighbor had the smoke and I used some celery salt. I bottled it up in the Sweet Baby Ray's bottle that I just emptied.... It was suggested I call it Sweet Baby Royall's but that is a bit much LOL!! Thanks for a wonderful recipe and a real BIG thanks for giving the quantities in grams!!! I wish everyone did that!!
This sounds and looks so delicious Johnny Mac!! I'm definitely giving it a try sometime. I'm a big fan of Smokey and spicy BBQ sauces. Oddly enough last night I bought a brand called lilies hot Smokey BBQ sauce to use for BBQ chicken cheesesteaks that I plan on making tonight. I bet your sauce would go perfect. Next time I will give it a go.
Hi there, I'm from New Zealand and a big fan of your channel. Excuse my ignorance, but we call tomato sauce and ketchup the same thing here. Can someone please explain for me the difference? Perhaps I should use a pasta sauce or put a can of tomato's in the food processor?? Thanks in Advance.. :)
Hello! I'm from a country where some spices are really difficult to find, we don't have celery seeds. Is it okay to leave out or should I substitue it with something? I googled for substitutes but found it replaced by a bunch of other seeds we don't have. We do technically have spice mixes that more or less have all the spices used here if I could use that maybe?
That looks like a good sauce. One ingredient that most people dont know to use is TAMERIND. If you look at the ingredients of most good bbq sauces they use tamarind
Molasses is hard to get here in the UK or very expensive. Can you try making a sauce using black treacle as that is plentiful here and tell us the difference
I'm curious. How much salt does 7 grams of salted butter have in it. Does it really make a difference using unsalted butter vs salted butter? Really? I'd be willing to bet you couldn't taste the difference in the finished sauces in a blind taste test.
Who cares whether you are using unsalted or salted butter? Do whatever you want and instead of complaining about such little things, be thankful Johnny Mac shared a great recipe with us. Taste is a personal thing. You are free to make it as you like it. This is what's so great about cooking. It is never an exact science.

Crockpot slow cooked venison. I bet this would come out yummy and I've got a whole hind quarter to experiment with.

Thank you for a nice vegan sauce. Just change the butter for vegan butter. Lovely 😋
Now to find those vegan pork ribs.....
Looking good Johnny!!😁👍👊🍻
Thanks Craig 👍 stay cook up there this summer 🍻🍻
I just made it now. Very tasty. I had to sub molasses for simple syrup..
Johnny .my son here in the UK makes a bbq sauce not dissimilar to this recipe but adds a dash of bourbon to it
That sounds like a great addition 👌👍
Only the best Kentucky bourbon in it and it's the bomb.

The tomato sauce is more or less a tomato puree. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any more questions 😊👍
ketchup and tomato sauce are totally different. I'd suggest looking up a recipe for ketchup maybe. there is a ton of stuff in it

It can be left out. I hope you enjoy it 👍
I hate to ask this, but is there a substitution for the red wine vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar would work. Let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching
Can I just use a cup of ketchup instead of the tomato sauce or would that mess it all up?? I don’t feel like driving to the store haha
It never hurts to experiment - more than like it will taste fine - you may want to add less brown sugar.

Can Worchestershire Sauce be used in place of liquid smoke? It's what I have on hand.
The link on your website for BBQ sauce doesn't seem to work.
Can you get the sweet flavor without the cayann and heat? I cant have those ...: (
Yes you can leave the heat out. I hope you enjoy it 😊
What kind of ice cream?
I like it on vanilla 😋

I love me some butter, but I wonder if you could use another type of fat at the end. I'm thinking bacon fat.
I have not tried that but I bet it would be a delicious addition. If you give it a shot let me know how you liked it.

Are you in Philly/Baltimore?
On ICE CREAM HE SAID ?? 👀🤣
Or even kebabs that have gone wrong by overcooking it by a long time that have gone dry and rubbery
You forgot the ground black cardamom

dude you've got to be kidding me - to complain about salted vs unsalted butter - really?
@@catchitandcookit8097 - Thanks for your reply but I wasn't actually directing the question to you.
