    Guys I love the podcast. I followed Stephen here from AppleInsider. Getting introduced to Jason has been a treat. Your take on Apple's commercial was an interesting perspective and was very different then my own. I thought the commercial was cool. Now i don't consider myself a creative. I create videos with Final Cut Pro for the family but they could have just as well been done with iMovie. I was in band in high school. But because of my lack of commitment I was never any good. When the press crushed everything I did not take it as Apple saying all the items it was crashing are no longer necessary. I just thought it was Apple bragging about its engineering accomplishment. I think the uproar about Apple's commercial is just a product of our time where a multitude of people can instantly comment on an event and it's seen by a great number of people.

      Appreciate you watching and listening, and thanks for the comment! I do think the reaction is also a result of the current landscape of AI, and maybe 5 years ago it wouldn't have "felt" the same, and for sure, Apple showing off the accomplishment of the new iPad Pro hardware is warranted! Apple did issue an official apology after we recorded this episode, you can read Jason's take on it here: www.inc.com/jason-aten/with-4-words-apples-apology-for-its-crushing-ipad-pro-ad-set-an-example-for-every-brand.html

    Great video. I think people are “confused” about the iPad because so many tech reviewers tell them the iPad is terrible. Not “Pro” enough. Many are photographers and videographers who have the Mac’s for their professional use. You said it yourself, this pro TABLET is for professionals who need a tablet, a Wacom. Tech TH-camrs can be pretty scummy, selfishly over exaggerating the importance of their own needs when they are aware they are not the normal use cases.

      That's fine except for when they're selling versions of the tablet that cost $2,500. No $2,500 product should be this limited. $2,500 once you're accounting for storage and RAM and accessories... You should be able to sideload apps like you can on a Mac. It made sense that tablets couldn't do PC things back before we had the chips to do PC strength things on them. Now it's an artificial nerf.
      Sure keep the iPhone minis as the little glorified large iPhones that they are but if you're going to start selling $2,500 tablets you need to open it up to a dual boot Mac OS😊

      @@michaelcorcoran8768 that’s just it, for plenty of PROFESSIONALS who use the iPad for work, it is not limited because it doesn’t have MacOS! Individuals and corporations already use the iPad for work that can afford a laptop. From aviation to healthcare to real estate. Most importantly, I’ve watched plenty of videos from creative professionals like digital artists or even writers who use PRO apps on the iPad like Procreate and Scrivener. Illustrators who need a tablet or drawing tool to work want something entirely different than MacOS.

      @@michaelcorcoran8768Don’t think MacOS is the solution at all. Instead, they need better pro tools and apps specifically catered to touch and the Pencil.

      A great example is Austin Mann, pro photographer I've interviewed before, and when working in the field, a top-notch, hyper portable display that's powerful enough to process huge, raw images from his camera is an amazing tool. Would love to get his thoughts on the new OLED iPad Pro for sure.

    Easier to tap to erase than flip and scratch the screen, or have the Apple Pencil 🍏 ✏️ go flipping and flying all over my drawing ✍️ space IS less than desirable.
    And to think of others for whom erasing with the eraser-end might be otherwise difficult considering mobility. No-flip erasing is a solid and inclusive choice / feature. Eh?! 🎉

    You know, the reaction to the apple crunch is a little like the adverse reaction people had to Larry David physically choking Elmo, in front of his dad, live on the Today show a few months ago and it shows how much we (Humans) attach so much inanimate objects... we call our cars "she" or baby, "look at her go"... Im not sure if anyone really looked at the final copy of this video before ok-ing* it. (I was more upset with the smily face bulging eyes at the end... creepy)

    Jason is becoming my Debbie downer, but from other sites the word is that  will, at sometime release a new ipadmini. I HOPE it will have a faster chip (M?) and a few improvement bumps.

      What's the point of a faster chip if you don't actually let it do more stuff though. The chip is already sufficient for all the stuff the iPad will let you do. Any more professional work is blocked off by artificial software blocking. The m1 is already overpowered comically for what the iPad lets you do on it

    You should have bought the logitech keyboard from Apple much better than the so-called magic keyboard which sucks and you could’ve saved yourself $70

      In what way is it better?

    • @captaintruth3219
      @captaintruth3219 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To start with you’re saving $70 and it is a solid case that I have used for over seven years with no problems. The Apple case is very flimsy when you push on the screen and adds absolutely no protection for the edges of the thousand dollar iPad. I’ve dropped mine at least a few times in seven years and have had absolutely no damage. Apple has finally decided to add a row of special function keys which Logitech had seven years ago. The kickstand is very firm.I just received the new one yesterday weighs only 47 g and without the keyboard 20 g, but yet is a solid case that you snap the iPad into rather than just relying on magnets. Comes with the exact same one-year warranty.
      Which ever one you finally decide on good luck just remember the new iPads are paper thin and bend quite easily no matter what Apple says about being stronger one drop could cost a thousand dollars or more especially if it lands on one of its edges in the exposed iPad magic keyboard case. Maybe that’s why Apple is selling it on their website for $229 because they know it’s a better product.

    Guys when people like you guys talk about how BAD Windows is as a tablet miss the point. NOBODY advocates using MacOs as a tablet. We don’t want a Mac version of Surface. We want the freedom to boot FROM iPadOS to MacOS when attached to a keyboard.
    This would not be that hard, is obvious with this hardware and THE ONLY REASON Apple doesn’t do it is the desire to FORCE multiple devices on everyone.
    I get it. They are a for profit company. But I think even this is a miss. They are missing the opportunity to absolutely DESTROY Windows for consumers MANY OF WHOM already have iPads.
    An iPad that can run iPadOS AND MacOS versus Windows as peoples next computer? No brainer.

    • @jasonraten
      @jasonraten 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Why do you want to boot to MacOS on an iPad?

    • @iwitnesst3370
      @iwitnesst3370 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jasonratenBecause I’d rather have one device that can replace BOTH my old iPad and my M1 MacBook Air. It is objectively preferable than two separate devices. It is not that complicated.

    • @jasonraten
      @jasonraten 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@iwitnesst3370 aren't preferences, by definition, subjective? For example, I want a laptop with a 13 or 14-inch screen, but I would much rather have an iPad with an 11-inch. There's no one device that can replace those preferences.

    Multiple users = the only way I replace my 2018 iPad Air ever. Been an Apple guy since the Commodore 64, but is the kind of Apple garbage that grinds my gears.
