That's a clever repair. I use thread (sewing thread works, though i was able to find some fuji rod thread for cheap on ebay) and epoxy. I've repaired a few of my vintage fiberglass rods using thread and epoxy.

Just an idea can you use a piece of flex seal tape

Why didn't you just baton it back on with a large $500 knife with a high carbon steel blade?
