    What do you think will happen? Is gacha a fad that will die off or will it take over the world? Let me know below!

    I don't know what will happen, but a naive part of me wants gacha to stay where it is: not in the west.

      I just don't think they've found the right draw for westerners yet. EA sort of has with their ultimate teams, but even those aren't quite as successful as gacha is in the east

    Your vids are cool man. Been binging a few of them. Found you thru that Aum Shinrikyo post on reddit.
    Genshin got me tho, it's actually a good game that requires no spending to be fun, which you've no doubt heard before. I'm a sucker for the grind as well.

      Yeah! I've played a bit of Genshin and a few friendlier gachas like it before. They are def the exception. Genshin gives a lot of free stuff but you do sort of hit a point where you gotta commit money or be hindered.

    I wouldn't exactly say that gacha will define gaming, but the gacha mechanic has a very high chance of becoming prevalent. It's pretty much gambling but more subtle in presentation. At times it honestly feels predatory especially since they're out in the open to grab for kids/teens who are most likely not going to understand the full consequences of gambling/gambling addiction. But hey, for the most part, video games are made for business; and if companies know they'll make more money through the gacha format, they will most likely tap into it. (I personally don't like this direction but business is business)

      I agree! I think is often little more than a slot machine. Companies know who they are targeting and its why I think we need more regulation.

    With EA facing class-action lawsuit over their predatory lootboxes , idk . But I like this video.

      We'll see how it goes. I don't have much faith EA will lose that lawsuit.

    Gacha would be perfect for fantasy football, pay little money for a chance to draft the player you want

    I think if they'd go full throttle, like you said, they'd saturate the market to the point that only few would be earning the top dollar. And even now, only few of these gachas are top dogs. It's like "i can make it, i can be a celebrity" but for companies.

    • @lavalamp505
      @lavalamp505  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re not wrong and we have definitely seen that saturation in the few years since I made this.

    This aged quite well,(even if a bit baity) unlike my tolerance for predatory mechanics and annoying characters. Growing relatively numb to Paimon is both comfy and alarming. At least the top ups are ridiculously priced so i can ignore them easily.

      The ROI on gacha for large publishers is just so absurdly good that it isn’t a surprise how prevalent it has become.

    It's really dumb to think as only 2 extremes, it's probably not going to be just a fad because it's been going for years at this point but it's certainly not going to take over the world or make it's way through most games. If everyone makes a gacha game then the market will be thinned and stretched between all of those games and they all won't make a lot of money. Also remember that the group of people that play gachas =/= the group of people that play most other genres, just because someone played gta it doesn't mean they would play a gta gacha. Gacha mechanics like lootboxes already are where they will probably be forever, as lootboxes in some games with the rare genshin or xenoblade making it's way towards being a more traditional gaming experience but with gacha.

    • @lavalamp505
      @lavalamp505  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that's what I said in the video, they would starve each other out. I do think we will start to see a lot more gacha mechanics like ultimate team/character packs in other games.

      @@lavalamp505 yeah i stopped watching halfway through that, why would you put that title and make an argument for half the video and then just completely contradict it in the second half? This kind of shitty click bait AND shitty writing is not going to take you far, there's 1001 videos just like this one(i mean the structure and not the actual content) all with better quality, be it editing or even writing, being uploaded by bigger channels every single day, and i'm not even going to talk about videos that have actual quality content. This is why the like/dislike ratio is 50:50, man you have some actual content just focus on doing better with each video instead of trying to make it big with shitty clickbait.
