  • In another "road rash" video, Rigjob talks about gear that has survived years of abuse and come back for more. This road rash episode is about the "seven jib compact xl" by long valley equipment. (longvallyequip.com)
You can read more about the seven jib on my blog: www.hillbillygr...
If you are curious about that sexy looking weight holder for the jib weights... here's a video about that. • Rigjob's weightholder ...

You deserve way more views and subs!
Watching a video of this production quality, filled with so much information that can help filmmakers especially beginners out, only to find sub 1k views, no likes and an empty comment section after an hour seems so paradox.
I'm definitely here to stay. There hasn't been a single video you made i didn't enjoy.

Cheers, mate! I realize I'm talking to a niche portion of a niche part of a small market, so i don't expect these will ever "blow up"... but when *i'm* looking for information on gear and techniques, I get frustrated at what I find, so I'm just making the videos I wish somebody else would make instead!

We're out here and we're watching and appreciating all your thoughts and wisdom. And now I want a jib (more than ever...) so I also have a mild contempt for you.

You mention the time spent screwing up onto the bowl.. do you know Sachler (I think) released a quick screw of some nature. Maybe worht checking.

That sounds cool, but i haven't been able to find any quick screws for the 5/8" tripod mount.

I upgraded the base bolt of all the Seven Jibs that are sold now so this is much better. longvalleyequip.com Douglas Underdahl

Hay, I like your style! I have two of these jibs, the first one I bought is the original non-folding model from a guy who I later saw in a Sony ad in TV Technology. He sold that jib because he wanted the folding model to take with him when traveling. I also bought the folding model and actually use that one more often than the original only because its easier to transport. They are both super heavy-duty and really well built as you say. And as you said, the only thing I would like to see is some way to add some drag or resistance to the movement because if you are not a good operator the movement can be somewhat wild or unsteady, but a lot of people think they have to use the full range of motion when really a little bit of subtle motion goes a long way.
Where are you located? I'm in Michigan, if you are ever in this area, call me and I'd love to assist you on any project you might around here.

Small jibs are worth their weight to be sure. Love my Cinevate Axis for similar reasons. Packs down small, lifts big, and potentially even faster than that to set up since everything is basically contained inside a single big tube. It's also got sliding trim weights that you can move along the tube to adjust position quickly, or rig a self-lifting shot or whatever.
