I don't know if i'm allowed to link to places. Here are some places that have them: amazon and amazon uk have them, but are a tad more expensive than I paid (and probably will arrive in a couple days instead of a couple months). If you don't mind waiting 2-8 weeks, here are some aliexpress shops that have them cheap with free shipping (don't know why they don't show up in obvious web searches.) 16.80: www.aliexpress.com/item/Andoer-SC-406-Mini-Ultra-Bright-LED-Video-Light-Lamp-95-5500K-for-Canon-Nikon-Sony/32654035286.html This might be $15.80? Great video - don't worry about the rambling, at least you're coherent and not just rambling stuff on the spec sheet but about how you've actually used them on jobs. Love the rig job on it, I think if you put the heat sink on the end of some gooseneck tubing you'd make it even easier to position it around and mount to existing hardware. It'd be like a cheap version of the blindspot gear scorpion light.
They're pretty sweet, they pack quite a punch although the manufacturer states they're only 15w. I was using them indoors with a lot of natural light and they were doing a good job as a hair/rim light. They were a little cold compared to a winter sun in the northern hemisphere but nothing a little 1/4 CTO won't fix. I'm looking at getting 3 of these lights now, just going down the rabbits hole of AliExpress shops selling all manner of trinkety bits which will likely end up in the bottom of one of my kit bags.
The Sc-406 seems to be out of production...replaced with the SC-408, similar specs, but without the NP-F battery mount--instead using a 4000mAh built-in rechargeable battery. What are the odds that the battery life will match the life of the COB LED...maybe another rig job??
hehe, i'd like that too... Since i'm not sponsored or anything, i'm in the same boat as you... waiting for somebody to take the dive and report how the water is. I did buy the small boltzens and plan to review them, but I know that's not what you mean... For a bowens mount I took a gamble on the rimelight hmi 150w... i think i'll make a video about how i lost that gamble...
Yeah, so far I've been able to find two for the newer ones, but I really don't know if I can trust them! On another note, I'm seeing some pretty impressive stuff from Andoer - they do a panel that looks almost identical to the Lightstorm 1/2 for like 200 bucks!
If their official store was still "official" i'd be all keen to experiment. Since it now seems kinda dodgy, i don't know what to do. On another note, i bought a variable ND from them cause it was like $8 with free shipping. It has a slight purple tinge to it, but otherwise holds up well against my light craft workshop which was way a lot more than $8.
I feel like it's all the same stuff, just sold by different people. Only Chinese stuff I've ever seen faked was from more well known manufacturers like Xiaomi!

Sweet! I'd never heard of the scorpion light before, but now i'm all inspired to get some gooseneck and see what else I can do. thanks!

Great review!

Great video. They've got these on amazon.co.uk at 16GBP - so have ordered a couple.
Great stuff, mate. I'd love to see a review on something punchier, like a Chinese LED Fresnel or Bowens mount light or something!
