Best video of the kind!! I watched all the videos about this subject in spanish and I could not resolved, until I watched yours!! Thank you very very much!!!!
Step dad spending 3 hours trying to replace paddle. Was beginning to wonder if it would be done. Before the end of the day. Came on your site within 20 minutes both paddles replaced... thank you
ThankYou ever so much !... It took me about half an hour to fiddle with it until I search on youtube and found YOU !... then just couple of mins and it fits in like a charm ! .. happy day -)
It's crazy how many people this video helped. It's such a badly designed washing machine to replace paddles for. Be careful there isn't a coin or wire trapped behind the drum, that's the main reason I think that paddles break off over time.
@@AdamHocking .. ThankYou Adam for your kind reminder. ! .. what a chap you are. -) . Perhaps you could be someone who may design something exceptional without having to go through this ..
Thanks. Could not work out why our paddle was not just sliding in and staying there. Turns out the metal piece was sticking up so thanks once again, v helpful.
Approaching 40k views on this.. Not to mention the ones who don't realise you can do it yourself, goes to show how many problems people are having with Hotpoints paddles. I've had mine 7months and already 2 of the three paddles have broken off, with the engineer breaking my 3rd and final one himself! As old as I risk sounding, I never had this problem with my 10+ yr old machine and I dearly wished I'd not left it behind when I moved! I wouldn't buy another Hotpoint and would be tempted to go for one with metal paddles again, or simply a better quality brand. Been told not to expect washing machines to last past 4 or 5 years tops now, which is pathetic given the cost of them.
Hi! Wow, that's difficult. Ok, i'm sure there can be a way of fixing it without throwing the whole machine away. I can think of 3 possible solutions. Thea easiest one would be to superglue some extra plastic onto the lifter that will then slot tightly into that hole where the broken tab has come from (maybe with a bit of encouragement from a small screwdriver). One would be to thread strong wire between the broken hole, the next hole (not a lifter attachment hole - the oval shaped one that seems to have no purpose) and through some holes on the lifter but finding a way to tighten it without leaving a sharp edge that could tear clothing could be tricky. Lastly you could try whittling your own adaptor from plastic or some other material that won't degrade in the wash, shaped to fit in those two holes but without protruding too much (or they'll catch on the outer drum during a spin) and with a little bit of spring to it so it can be pushed through the tab hole while the lifter is slid into place and then spring up to hold it afterwards.
Dave Haynes You're welcome, I think I went through about 4 replacement paddles over several months before I worked out this method. Since I made this video none of the new paddles have broken off.
Thanks I have to replace my paddles and my son was concerned about this piece of metal sticking up. It just seems to be on one section the other section where the paddle has come off does not have it or its not sticking up. I sound very technical don't I...lol!
Difficult situation. Possibly something that will spring back down into the hole. Google "Roller Catch For Cupboard Doors & Locker Door Brown Caravan, Motorhome - E43/B", this could be screwed onto the inside of the paddle. You'd need to check to see if it would line up ok, it might not work at all. Good luck.
I don't know. Heat and washing aren't good with glue. You might just ruin your clothes. It could just be better to use some side snips to make a new bit of metal tab to raise up. The old part broke off?

Hello friend, that metal piece is broken, what can I do?

@@AdamHocking I understand, my friend. Would a strong adhesive work?
