As far as the Shotwell is concerned, how cool would be to build a car when your 17, having no idea that 60+ years later people all over the world would see your creation on a moving picture on something that hasn't been invented yet (computer, tv) by a guy (Jay) that wasn't born yet!!!

I’ve also wondered what the purpose of the suicide doors were for? fiat, Lincoln and others had the suicide doors on some models but was it for easier entrance or exits or what? And Dennis did a lot of videos on the Jay Leno garage among a ton of others and he’s quite unique with his mustache which makes him a standout than others...they do a great job explaining each part of the car and their purpose... Dennis got to drive this one also? Wow what a honor...Hmmm most others he gets to also....thumbs up on your videos..👍🏼
50mpg from a 1937 but still in 2019 if you have a car that gets 30 something MPG it seems like you're doing good. Most cars probably get around 25-28 I'd say.

The Topolino is not a VW. It is purely italian, made by Fiat. In France it was sold under the Simca brand. It was the "Simca 5"... my grandfather's first car ;))) F
Great comment.. but bear in mind Jay is comparing the VW in Germany (the people's car) to the little cute Fiat in Italy. Common ground. An inexpensive car, capable (if even just minimally) of the job it was designed to do and very affordable to both buy and drive. Italian yes, German no, but the likenesses are striking when Jay compared to VW and the Fiat at this particular model and price point.
