Wyndorf and McBain are the shit, even Iggy was going soft. No one had the balls or brains to be themselves and simply deliver the goods. Everything was watered down with bands recording the drum tracks digitally and spending ass loads on coke/studio time. Then out of nowhere comes MM with the full 'staches, the longhair and most importantly the tunes. It was as if they never even left the basement for 15 years and then blammo just steamrolled everything in their path into oblivion.
bollocks, Motorhead had 1916, Corrosion of Conformity had Blind, Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium, Entombed had Clandestine. Monster Magnet steamrolled fuck all.
Great minds think alike bro! Is this really true, I would hope so...Spine of God came out in '91ish and Ill Communication in '93ish? We'd play both them back to back at house parties because both were the shit back then and the riff was exact.
Monster Magnet rules! Kyuss, Acid King, Alabama Thunderpussy, Texas Hippie Coalition, all are great, but NOBODY has the edge, originality, presence, sound, and consistency this guys display all the time! Oh yes, and that retro feeling...
Great song! I saw them live in 1993. Memorable show. They played most of Tab and a couple tracks off this album to about 10 people. Talked with Dave Wyndorf for awhile. Interesting guy.
I actually remember seeing this when it aired way back in the early 90's, maybe '93. It took a while but I had the record store order Superjudge. been a monster Magnet fan since.
I remember catching this on Headbanger's Ball a lifetime ago. I was like: "What the fuck is this?!" at the beginning of the video, and "I have to get that album!!" by the end.
Saw their show last month-MINDFUCKER. Third time since 1998 i enjoyed the MM-experience live. For me still the greatest stonerrock band today! and they will always be my favorites!
@Brooklyn7071: probably because the time signature (5/4) and its devision (3-3-2-2) are exactly the same as in Qotsa's 'Hangin' Tree'. Only the little drum break around 2:48 is two bars of simple 4/4 time.
Can't describe the intensity of this song....it feels like someone is hammering a nail in my head AND i'M LITERALLY ENJOYING THE PAIN....MM Rulezzzzz \m/
Wow, MTV actually DID have a Metal show called "Headbanger's Ball"... I thought ever one joked 'cause I don't see much of this on MTV! XD ...Yeah this rock!
Well I agree with mo' fo' 8ditspete. This band is the shis'nit. Or should I say was. Wasn't so fond of Dopes to Infinity, but Spine of God rests forefer in my top 20 of wicked ass albums of all time.
Love them both, and do you have to compare 2 of my all time fav bands ? Metallica used to write pretty complex stuff back in the day man.. Especially in Justice album. This ain's no "new" Monster Magnet either..
I'm not going to debate what "complex" means since MM make dense productions and Metallica used to write classically inspired arrangements. That said however I think MM have better vocals and no matter who is playing drums it is more groovy and rockin' than anything Lars will ever do.
Fuck yeah man only Spine of God through Dopes is worth listening to IMO. I hated this band for so long because of crap like "Spacelord" and "Heads Explode", but holy fuck did Spine of God and Superjudge completely fuck my mind when I first heard them. How they got so bad so fast I have no idea.
@@seventhblasphemy408 I posted that 12 years ago, since then Monster Magnet came back hard with Mastermind and The Last Patrol in the 2010's and were rocking as hard as ever
@RiverMpls Biased much? I like both Monster Magnet and Metallica, but if you think this song is as complex as The Call of Ktulu, or And Justice for all, you are fooling yourself.
@ImNIClK @ImNIClK Yeah. But you listen to Radiohead.... and have add-cack favourited so maybe stick to videos where your short attention span and need for tripe is fed ?
One of the best albums of all time
not only are the songs on this record incredible but it's mixed brilliantly too

Did Dave Wyndorf write this?
Beastie boys admitted that they lifted this riff to create sabotage!!! cool rock history
liamcicada why of course I'm an ANT
Had to hear it. Love both.

absolutely to be seen in live! great band, great stuff, heavy rock as i like !
I actually remember seeing this when it aired way back in the early 90's, maybe '93. It took a while but I had the record store order Superjudge. been a monster Magnet fan since.
I feel releaved, i was searching for this clip for ages. Tx, memories...
This band blew my mind when this album came out.
Best band on the world, no questions.
I remember catching this on Headbanger's Ball a lifetime ago. I was like: "What the fuck is this?!" at the beginning of the video, and "I have to get that album!!" by the end.

How did I miss this? Great video bro...thanks for posting it!!!
Beastie Boys took the opening riff of this and used it for "Sabotage."
Brilliant! Long Live Monster Magnet!
reminds me of my dad´s mates when i was small
WOOOOW. if it wasn't youtube i'd never know this video existed. thumbs up! great!
i move from planet to planet with this song on.
This was their first video realease back in '93. Still kicks ass 2day!!!! Coolest fuckin' band on the planet!!!
In my opinion they keep getting better and better.
Got to see them in Berlin in 1992. Mind permanently blown
Only the best stoner album to date, this lp tops Sleep, Fu Man Chu, Kyuss, Orane Goblin, none can compare to the Spine.
Your 7 yr. old statement still stands true. Spine of God is a masterpiece.
Yup
Shit that's a tough choice. I cant choose between these guys and Orange Goblin. Depends on my mood.
That just made my day. Thank you sir.
Thank you !
Classic rock song!
love it
Heavy as ten thousand pound sack of guitars!

awesome band
UNSTOPPABLE!!!
Legendary song!
Can't describe the intensity of this song....it feels like someone is hammering a nail in my head AND i'M LITERALLY ENJOYING THE PAIN....MM Rulezzzzz \m/
TELL EM DAVE WYNDORF!
*breahes out* aaah man this video is too cool. I dont even think John Garcia can touch this.
FAB!!!
Cheers
@seraphale
Dopes To Infinity is Monster Magnet's best album by far!! :D
I love them, I love them, I fuckin love them!
Spine of God and Superjudge is where it's at man.
Wow, MTV actually DID have a Metal show called "Headbanger's Ball"... I thought ever one joked 'cause I don't see much of this on MTV! XD ...Yeah this rock!
thank you for yo cool. COOL VIDEO!!!!
@michael66600
I'm in Canada, and they rarely play here. It's not just England, no one here has heard of them either.
Phil Anselmo recommended them :D
where?
@@mishastone Headbangers Ball March 1992
Phil said Soundgarden turned them on to monster magnet
yeeeeeeeessss!realy goood!

long live the Headbangers Ball!
If Satan lived in heaven he'd be me
Damn that messy Dan!

One of my biggest regrets was getting too stoned to be bothered to go 2 miles down the road to see them back in 92. Utmost fail.
You get one demerit for that
...you wouldn't understand
Love them both, and do you have to compare 2 of my all time fav bands ?
Metallica used to write pretty complex stuff back in the day man..
Especially in Justice album.
This ain's no "new" Monster Magnet either..
Oh dear god the point of good is in the mood of vood
a shadow of their former self.. PITY !!!
Open this video and have to sit through 20 secs of a Philadelphia advert........wrong
LISTEN TO MONSTER MAGNET KIDS!!!!!
Reminds me Nebula's "Atomic Ritual", but "Medicine" is older...
@8clitspete Jajajaajajaajaja... So true, and funny.
Dave Wyndorf is absolutely GORGEOUS and he has a LOVELY, SOFT beard and a LOVELY, LOVELY voice!
it's a satanic drug thing...
I think they did great stuf with SpaceLord Intergalactic.. But I dislike no-acid in 4-way diablo..
But, still - GREATEST BAND ON THE PLANET!!
@sanjurodog they pick me up! wink wink:-D

They never got bad.

This is the same version thats on the album, Spine of God....your confusing it with their ill-advised remake of their own song.
@RiverMpls
Yeha, Lars ain't got nothin' on these NJ mothers!
You think Dopes is awesome? Check out Spine of God.
You think Powertrip was awesome? Check out Dopes to Infinity.
Make No Mistake...Your Violation WILL BE Televised
this band is the alpha and omega. if you don't like this band you have a developmental disorder.
1991
@RiverMpls Biased much? I like both Monster Magnet and Metallica, but if you think this song is as complex as The Call of Ktulu, or And Justice for all, you are fooling yourself.
Think he meant more conceptualy complex rather than tecnically complex. That's what I got, but I;m high so dont quote me on it.
YOUR VIOLATION WILL BE TELEVISED
That's an unfair comparison. That's like saying Corky from Life Goes On wishes he could write as good as Stephen King.
Wyndorf is amazing but Mcbain is GOD.
@joeheadblues Retro is such a daft word
As of now, 7 people have no soul.
;D by T&M
sabotage !
@8clitspete lol
#NEWROCKMETAL#
Metallica has writen complex stuff, Monster Magnet is just more pleasant :P
Only amongst certain stoner types... not as big as they should be.
what a poser! The band is still the best one around...
Come on now, I like Monster Magnet but Metallica's (older) stuff is way more complex.
This song is greater than Metallica's entire catalog.
@ImNIClK @ImNIClK Yeah. But you listen to Radiohead.... and have add-cack favourited
so maybe stick to videos where your short attention span and need for tripe is fed ?
Not sure why everyone likes this song so my go it’s ok, but nothing special.
