Im traveling round Nova Scotia at the moment and I went to Hall's Harbour Lobster pound in the Bay of Fundy and saw the biggest Lobster ive ever seen. If you're talking about the way they store the lobsters at 4:40, they actually do enjoy being enclosed in small spaces as it makes them feel safe, I just don't think it's best to store lobsters together as they did here because they are cannibals and will kill/eat each other... Most lobster companies store their lobsters separately.

What a drama queen. In 1984, I went to Boston, Mass. There was a restaurant there and near the entrance inside was a HUGE enclosure where they kept a lobster who was 50 pounds. It was their mascot and was never meant to be cooked. I have never seen a lobster that big since, and probably never will again. After seeing it, I never ate lobster again, not that I made it a regular habit. My favorite lobster is the Spiny Ornate Lobster, it's colors are magnificent.

In the late 60s/early 70s in Halifax, NS in a fish shop by the ferry dock going to Dartmouth from Halifax they had lobster that took up an entire ide of their window display. The claw alone was the size of the lobster, with claws, he was showing on the video. I have no idea of the age or what eventually became of it. A vague recollection was that a restaurant in Boston, Mass. USA bought it and as a result of public pressure released it back into the sea. It was massive and magnificent.
When I lived in Halifax the Lobster Pounds along the coast sold their freshly caught and cooked lobster for $1.57Cdn per lb.. They were a long time ago and a wonderful time to be young.

I think they usually do put the largest ones back, I think the quality of the meat declines after a certain age. I also believe they contribute largely to the mating population and help stabalize the population at large.
