Hello! I'm from Ukraine! I am learning English in order to travel and communicate with people all over the world. I also want to change the world for the better and knowing English makes it much easier)
It is amazing to see Bangladesh in 6 min english programme that tells a lot of untold stories by excavating enigma of all over the world. It makes me meshmerized fully, allowing to search for unknown to be known. Thanks from Bangladesh.
I love to listen Beth’s voice her voice is charming when she speaks English . I don’t like British English before cuz I thought British accent was complex and unable to catch the native speakers say but after I start to watch BBC learning English I’ve started to love how British accent was wonderful and lovely ❤You guys give me motivation to learn English thanks a million BBC Learning English
I cannot imagine being unable to read simple things, let alone books. I feel sorry for those who haven't the chance to learn for different reasons. Thanks for making us, who can read, aware of how lucky we are!
In my country called Brazil, people don't read books and some write very little in their language (Portuguese). Now imagine in other languages like English and Spanish. Thanks BBC.
This video from BBC Learning 6 Minute English was very insightful! I learned new vocabulary and enjoyed the US report about literacy. I love reading novels 📖, and right now, I'm reading "A Passage to India" by E.M. Forster. The British accent made it even more enjoyable! 🌟🇬🇧✨
I spend a lot of my free time Reading: every morning I read the newspaper and , in the evening I read book in my own language and in english. It's a wonderful way to relax and keep informed!
It literally blows my mind! 😢We live in the era of developing technologies, the AI, smartphones and so on.How is it even possible that people are illiterate in such big quantities. Thanks BBC learning English for informing us about this issue!
My aunt had once shared me her deep story of being illiterate in the contryside. Most of the adults were never taught or had a privilege to be illerate because of the conflicted area and undeserved community. She was falling in love with the boy who was caring and supportive for her. After three years, she was proposed by a love letter however she was unable reading therefore she did not response anything about the message. Thus, her boyfriend assumed that she refused him badly. After three years, she tried to learn and read and then she knew the main purpose of the letter..
I just started a new channel that uses video games to improve English listening skills, and your amazing videos are teaching me a lot about how to make better content…thanks so much and keep it up!!!
To be very honest it is really a very good TH-cam channel for learning English. However I am from Bangladesh and one of my friends suggested to me about 6 minute English.
Since I started learning English, I've been reading two English novels (the first one is *A Terrible Kindness* by Jo Browning Wroe and the second one is *Paper Palace* (you probably have heard about both novels for sure) Nobody has obliged me to read both of these novels. I just wanted to find something which is based on my preferences and to learn some English as well. And of course, I won't stop here. In Romanian schools, our teachers give us a huge list of novels which is mandatory to read everything on that list. But the most upsetting thing is that nearly half of the country's population cannot read or write. Even if the government has promised to people in every election that the literacy rate will grow in the future and education and research will be a priority, few measures have been implemented in recent years.
@@bbclearningenglish I enjoy reading more *historical* books (for example, A Terrible Kindness is based on the Aberfan tragedy from the 1960s), *romances* , and sometimes *science fiction* . However Romanian literature is often inspired by real events and frequent problems faced by peasants in the early 20th century and there are some novels in which the main idea is related to affection or relationships with the backdrop of war drama and so on.
Wow! This program is amazing! I love this channel, today I can speak better the English... well, I need to practice more to finally understand the foreigners :)
Oh yeah I am also very glad to hear that topic which is about Bangladesh. And the most interesting thing is ,I just joined yesterday. I didn't even know about it then one of my friends suggested it to me. Also, it is going to be extremely helpful for those who are preparing for IELTS.By the way, be here regularly to learn better English like this.
Have you tried reading Quran 📚 ? Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-Subsisting, Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution. From Allah, verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens. He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
I LOVE reading some romantic, thriller and phychologic books. However, I still reading some news from the media, about fashion, health, sexology, travels, cinema and more.
Iam new at here . Inshallah my journey will be good with bbc learning english . I hope one day i will speak English fluently. If some one wants to advice me so you can .😂😂
Oh that's great I am also from Bangladesh. And try to listen to this every day and I hope it's gonna be very helpful for learning English. I didn't even know about this channel and one of my friends suggested it to me.
Hi, there.😊 It's shocking indeed that around the world over 7K million adults are illiterate, which I wasn't familiar with. 'Numeracy' is new to me. By the way, I'm in the middle of reading 'Emma', which I've been struggling through, though.😅 As always, thank you❗
Wow, that's quite a difficult book to read! 😊 We hope you enjoy it though. Thank you for 🎧 listening and stay tuned for more episodes of 6 Minute English.
Suddenly you said my country name i was shocked. And then one of guy rasida talking i am laughing for her native voice. That kind of girl work in my country as a servant.
The word "thick" reminds me of "dense" which also carries the meaning of stupidity. I usually come across this word in movies when a girl complains about the fact that her boyfriend is so dense when it comes to reading her mind.
'Taking (something) for granted' is assuming that (something) is true without checking up or finding out about it. 'Something that has been agreed by you' means you have given your permission for something.
Jeremy was a Jedi, but he pretended he was illiterate and didn't have numeracy skills so everyone would believe he was thick. The Sith also often cheated him. The Jedi Order then pretended to expel Jeremy. The Sith heard the story of Jeremy being expelled and took it for granted. The Sith hired Jeremy to do photo dumps of pictures showing Sith propaganda. However, Jeremy's signature was never on the documents stating him being expelled from the Jedi Order. Actually, the Jedi Order sent Jeremy to go undercover and learn secret information about the Sith so the Jedi could defeat them!
Illiteracy is the gift of Western colonialism to the countries of the East. France occupied Algeria with the illiteracy rate at 20%, raising it to 85%. America and Britain invaded Iraq and the illiteracy rate reached zero, raising it to 47%.
Illiteracy is surely comes out from the third world countries in highlights mainly Africa is widely illiterate their tribes could've been changed while adopting moderate world activities of education because education is a big factor behind the illiteracy meanwhile in the world education is still turning down especially south Asian countries through rough states that they do find out basic math's but aren't illegible on purpose also surge of voluntary unemployment is detected in south Asian states respectively 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
