Relaxing Electromagnetism Experiments: Ohm's Law, Series/Parallel Circuits, DC Motor | ASMR

  • I was gifted this neat electromagnetism kit (thanks Justin!), so tonight we play around with series and parallel circuits, and a variable resistor (potentiometer) used to control the current and voltage applied to a light bulb and a DC electric motor.

    Worst day of work that I’ve had in the past 5 years. I’ve felt very stressed all day. Then I see my favorite ASMRtist has posted a new, unique and super relaxing video. This day just might finish out alright. Thanks so much, Rich. You’re a life saver.

    Perfect ASMR voice and effects, and no more too-long ramblings. it works as a sleep inducement, and I'll have to watch it again later to see the experiments. I'd like to see more kit presentations like this. Or anything similar even if it's not a pre-made it. The only science class I had in school was chemistry, so I missed out on the physics-like experiments.

      The only science class I took was chemistry. When I found that some other schools had everybody take classes in physics, geography, etc, I felt like I'd missed some things. I've been reading some beginning physics books to backfill my knowledge. Chemistry is still my favorite science though.

    • @ismth
      @ismth ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sluggo206 only chem that’s wild! Did you go to public school or? Just curious bc we had earth sciences, multiple biology courses, chemistry, anatomy and physics and it was just public school curriculum. If I had to choose which I would want to take if I could only have had one of those, I’d have picked chemistry. It was super fun, but not simple enough to be the only science class available imo. It’s great you’re learning on your own tho!

    • @sluggo206
      @sluggo206 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ismth I attended public schools 1973-1985 in one of the best districts in the US. In elementary and junior high there were some science and anatomy lessons here and there but not comprehensive. In high school you could choose biology, chemistry, or physics; so i took a year of chemistry. Actually, I took one biology class too, which I forgot because I didn't like it. In college I took atmospherics (weather, climate) for my science requirement.

    While electricity is really cool with how it works, I remember my second term of physics in college being entirely about electromagnetism and I thought it was so fascinating how closely related electricity was related to magnetism. I totally thought they were completely separate forces! I even still have a video of this one gadget that they brought out that was a plastic tube with a wire coiled inside of it, and they'd slide this like metal ring to the bottom of the tube (outside of the plastic) and press a button which just launched that thing really high in the air. It was even more fascinating when they did the same thing with an open metal ring and it did nothing! Super cool stuff. Did you know that there's no such thing as a magnetic monopole? Apparently there might have been some right around the big bang, but they do not exist anymore.
    Also I feel like I've almost never encountered a physical compass that actually works, so that was actually really funny to see
