Makes for great sky's at night though. Tasmania also gets left of pretty regularly.

38:35 I am italian. The brighter cities you are seeing on the west coast of the italian penninsula are respectively from the bottom Naples, Rome and the Tuscany northen-central cities that somehow are lined up in light (Massa, Lucca, Pistoia Arezzo, Prato, Empoli and Florence).

i can’t explain it but what relaxes me is when asmr (whisper) videos have the vibe of someone unintentionally whispering in your ear telling you something. that relaxinggggg feeling that actually could put you to sleep. i know that’s the whole point of how a whisper in asmr sounds, but it’s a certain type. it reminds me of when i was little and friends would whisper things in my ear playing broken telephone in class. first exposure to asmr ever (lol) that truly made me feel sleepy. or when you’re playing hide and seek and you whisper to the person hiding with you. it’s a certain type of pitch, volume, etc. anyway, super relaxing. 🙏 awesome.
Yh the european map is Very Hard for some Americans, could be tht this isnt Very Important in American schools(i dont know). In Europa its a Very Big theme in schools so most of Europeans r quite familiar with All continents. Sorry for my horible gramar😂 Im from Austria🇦🇹
The lights of Scotland to the North are the oilrigs! There are a lot of them and Sealand which would be really noticable! Also so weird to hear you say Belfast because my hometown is usually forgotten 😅

so... the mercator map is kinda f***ed in the "distance" regard, it was used for nautical traveling and for knowing the shapes of nations (although the areas in which they end up in is super flawed in the poles). So why do i bring it up? because you tried to use a ruler to see the distance or lenght or whatever of the "zones" in the map, which is very innacurate in the poles (USA is in the north pole-ish) so yeah, the caribbean part is the one you could have used the ruler on (where the distances are accurate), another thing is the "lights" you see are quite more close between each other because of the same reason :D. i Comment because of people not knowing this fact can cause quite a lot of innacuracies in the believes of "importance" or "land area" of each country. PD: quite a regular used example is: Greenland is smaller than the Congo.

@@solemnlyaethstetic3181 hahaha, yeah no, i did not intend it to sound harsh, i struggled to get my point across in english as it's not my first language so i concentrated on that and not how it sounded, i love his videos and i'm a loyal fan, and a sucker for the interesting facts and things he gets in the videos but i was just trying to educate about a topic that is not often talked about and that creates interesting misunderstandings of the world (btw that's why the atlas used a different world map, something similar to a Winkel Tripel projection).

I've listened to hundreds of ASMR videos over the past decade or so. I have dozens of videos in my ASMR playlist but I have a separate playlist of the very best. Only 3 videos have been good enough to make it: the tea tutorial by Temi ASMR, the Skyrim alchemist roleplay by AlternateAurora, and this.
After the fall of the USSR, Leningrad returned to it's pre-revolution name of St. Petersburg. Stalingrad was changed to Volgograd. I also see that you have a pre 1990 atlas which is super cool to look back on! You see all the differences between all the soviet states and how things are now. "White Russian" is Belarus, (Белорус... And also a pretty good drink) Literally translates to - White (Белая /Belaya Россия / Roseeyah)

My country (the Netherlands...no not Amsterdam! 😜) is totally lit! Lol! Well actually the area below The Hague is called the Westland. The reason why it's lit up so much is due to the fact that that entire area is filled with greenhouses. Waha and no you were not pointing at Berlin around 29:55 that's way more to the east. That area is near the border of the Netherlands and is called Nordrhein Westfalen, within which lies the 'Ruhrgebiet' which is known for being an area with a lot of industry

The area around the Netherlands and western Germany has basically all the major Dutch cities plus a few German ones very close to each other. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Groningen plus Dutch highways connecting the cities are of course fully lit up at night creating this massive light spot. Oh and almost forgot: the greenhouses! Thousands of acres of greenhouses blasting LEDs at the plants all night long. That's at least as much light as all the cities combined.
Waow, 2 miles of this map would get you to the Sun 😲 (Also I think the spot you pointed to for Raleigh is Charlotte. The one to the NE of that should be Greensboro, and the one to the ESE of Greensboro should be Raleigh.)

your map has error of sea of name. The Sea name that located on the right of South Korea is not 'Sea of Japan'. The correct name of the sea is ' East Sea '
Just a note: Halifax is in the middle part of that coastline, the area you guessed is a city on Cape Breton Island just north of Nova Scotia. No big deal, otherwise neat video.

I've listened to hundreds of ASMR videos over the past decade or so. I have dozens of videos in my ASMR playlist but I have a separate playlist of the very best. Only 3 videos have been good enough to make it: the tea tutorial by Temi ASMR, the Skyrim alchemist roleplay by AlternateAurora, and this.
Still watching this video at least once+ a week. My Insomnia makes me sooo mad! This video helps.

I also see that you have a pre 1990 atlas which is super cool to look back on! You see all the differences between all the soviet states and how things are now. "White Russian" is Belarus, (Белорус... And also a pretty good drink) Literally translates to - White (Белая /Belaya Россия / Roseeyah)

Well actually the area below The Hague is called the Westland. The reason why it's lit up so much is due to the fact that that entire area is filled with greenhouses.
Waha and no you were not pointing at Berlin around 29:55 that's way more to the east. That area is near the border of the Netherlands and is called Nordrhein Westfalen, within which lies the 'Ruhrgebiet' which is known for being an area with a lot of industry

The area around the Netherlands and western Germany has basically all the major Dutch cities plus a few German ones very close to each other. Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Groningen plus Dutch highways connecting the cities are of course fully lit up at night creating this massive light spot.
Oh and almost forgot: the greenhouses! Thousands of acres of greenhouses blasting LEDs at the plants all night long. That's at least as much light as all the cities combined.
