@@pierogiengineering power up the Bass Cannon 😎 i'm getting my subwoofer soon aka the next day it's going a dual 18inch subwoofer that has 6400peek watts and the rms watts is 1600 and the db is 138db no cap
just got recommended your channel and youve earned a new sub, this shit is hilarious and impressive. Makes the stuff i built in my bedroom in high school look like a joke. Hell, even the system i have in my living room now is nothing compared to this beast, although my days of chasing bass are over. I wish i had known about that switch that you use for converting wall power to DC. When i was your age, i had two car batteries and a high output battery charger in my bedroom to power my amplifier.
I got ya beat! I built a subwoofer with a 30” ElectroVoice woofer in an 85 cubic foot enclosure! When I hooked it up to a signal generator, I was able to find the resonant frequency of the house; and it was so scary what it was doing to the walls. I later found drywall nails that had worked out through the spackling and paint! 😮 Anyway, nice build. Try running it outside where you can develop the lower wavelengths more fully. You probably noticed that the further you were away from it, the better the bass response…
@@bailey2517 well, a 20Hz tone is about 56.5’ and a 40Hz tone (a low E on a bass) is 28.3’ so if you are closer, then you are within a fraction of that distance and so the full wave hasn’t a chance to fully develop (especially if there are walls and surfaces that reflect and detract thereby breaking it up and destroying the original phase). But even if there are walls, hallways and corners, you will still notice a much more powerful and clean note further away. Finally, fractional waves don’t efficiently resonate their enclosures which contributes to them being attenuated. If you have a good system, take it outside and separate it about 75’ between speakers then place yourself between them; then back up until you peak the bass and that is the sweet-spot! 😀
wow, thank you for re-introducing me to the world of DIY audio. I got out of it as I started to get deep into just audio production but this took me back to my days of literally blowing out the ceiling at my parents' house w/ a super ghetto in-home setup I built w/ a car battery + trickle charger + my brother's MTX JackHammer & car amp that he let me use. I wish I didnt have such a shitty camera & that I was more aware that other people would have cared to watch it too back in 2011 lol

I'm almost 33 and getting back into it myself. Thinking about building a neat little 12" PA sub to compliment my outdoor party speakers which put out nothing below 80 hz. Like most of us, I dont need it at all, it's just fun to do and the journey there is 90% of the fun.
Would love to see a measurement to compare the simulated response to what it actually does. I also had to laugh when you covered the port holes the same way i just did to a test-enclosure
@@pierogiengineering oh that sucks but you really dont need a lab to do that. Just whip out ye ol room eq wizard and do get an anechoic response just move the box outside as far away from walls as possible. Don't wanna explain the whole thing as its a pretty in-depth process, but it's possible. I do measurements like that all the time. I have my own software but rew is good enough for starting out.
Very nice supasubboombox! The 1 thing I do different (makes huge difference) so inside the box I reinforce the "floor, backwall&ceiling" with Plexi. Cut to size, drill holes. Put a layer of glue down, then drill some screws in and you'll thank me later 😉
Have you tgough about building a double cone setup one forward and one backwards? When i was in graphic design college, i did an intern at a speaker building company. It was called Stage accompany. They made big high end speakers. While i was there, they where testing and devlopping a big nee woofer which had this Setup. They were testing it with hardcore and techno. The complete building was resonating from this single woofer. The damn thing was huge. If i recall 1.2x1.2x1.2 meter. The sound was incredible l!!
Your incriminator Li18, does it have any options, like extra spiders, upgraded lead wire or flat wound upgrade ? Depending on the options it might make a difference in the measurements you got from the lab I expect. Looking to buy one myself 😏
Really awesome I make the same design almost 🤌! I just don't know if you do but such smooth ports you don't REALLY need (plus can be done easy DIY with a drill and heat!) But depending on the box's size you'd have a length of tube going IN to you soundbox that length depends on its size and impendage 😊 as last I also use woodglue but just more and after that I caulk the corners in 2/3 times, very thick! Cheap products will do 😉✌️
The track is called "Undring" by harmonica player Sigmund Groven and organist Iver Kleive from their Harmorgan album. However, I recognize the track in this video as an enhanced version by AJ BASS. The organ's bass notes do run at 16 Hz. Go to "AJ BASS" channel on TH-cam and look for the video called "Sigmund Groven & lver Kleive harmOrgan [16 Hz Sub Bass-C0]" Warning, most of the videos in his channel can probably blow your speakers :)
Half the time I’m like nice, then half the time I’m like WTF are you doing with staples, a drill from 1975 and a 10 other weird ass things like however the hell you attached the final side. Like watching someone make a nice wooden table then for some reason they glue the legs on with mustard and beat it with an umbrella. Construction is weird wherever you’re from.

Can you go more in depth about how lower wavelengths take "longer" to develope? Why do i have to be further away for it to sound right?
