- In 1998, Wild Mouse returned as a steel roller coaster. This version featured a similar layout to the original and was built in the same location as the 1973 version but is an all-new ride built by Maurer Söhne. In the ride's first two seasons, there was no themed tunnel (decorated to look like a house) on the ride. This element was added beginning with the 2000 season.
Like many other Wild Mouse roller coasters manufactured by Maurer Söhne, the Wild Mouse features a layout that weaves in and out of itself with several hairpin turns and stiff brakes until you reach the station again to complete the circuit.
The original paint scheme was purple and yellow when the ride opened but it was repainted green and yellow for the 2013 season. Cars are painted to look like cats or mice to fit the theme of the ride.
Wild Mouse opened as a wooden roller coaster in 1965 after being relocated from the Seattle World's Fair. After operating in its location in Lagoon's North Midway, it was eventually retired in 1971.
In 1973, the Wild Mouse roller coaster returned to Lagoon as "The New Wilder Wild Mouse." The new version of the ride was located at the South Midway, in the same location where the current Wild Mouse operates. Since this ride featured the same layout and look of the previous Wild Mouse, it's assumed this is the same ride installed in 1965. This version of the ride operated until 1989 when Lagoon decided to retire the Wild Mouse again.

The time that I went on that ride at the one part with the drop, I literally almost flew out of my seat because the seatbelt thing wasn’t fitting me well enough 😂

Aw, they upgraded. My family went there in the 1980's, where it was a single seater, or two people who knew each other real well, ha ha.

@@FRONTSEATPOV I recall it well because my brother and I went on it so often. The cars were the ones where you straddled a cushioned center "bench". If two people went together, the front person ended up sitting between the back person's legs, both straddling the center bench. The ride started with that first left turn, then actually sloped down so that the car had velocity on hitting the uphill part and the left chain (the notorious whiplash when your car started to slide back downhill and caught the chain with a jolt).
After that, everything else is pretty much the same - only the colors and decorations have been added/changed.

This one is quite a bit smoother. It's still jerky but that's the point. There was a hump in the old one that would lift you out of your seat. The old was jarring through the whole ride. Adding to the thrillllll

I love the whole “Wild” mouse and “Crazy” mouse series ....fun for all ages....and it gets you thinking....maybe I could build one of these in my backyard....you’re not thinking that when you ride “the Beast “

The original wild mouse was killer! This is the 2.0 version. Been going to Lagoon since 1968!
This was the very first rollercoaster I ever went on, back when it was purple and yellow. I remember being terrified while waiting in line, and the sharp turns were really jarring, but I had more fun than anything. Thanks for the video reminding me of such a fun time!

When I went in 2023 the turns were sharper than I remembered when I went in 2015
me and my cousin rode this one like 5 times and it was so fun! we liked to name the cart #2 "Cheesy Chumbo" 😂😂

I’ve been to Lagoon
On my last time there the brakes on the track did not stop the vehicle at all. Maybe they lubed it up or something. But it made it quite funner!
It wasn't scary, just felt rough lol.
Those sharp turns will beat the shit out of you for sure.
At times it felt like you were going off the rails!
If you know when the stops are, you know when you will be able to brace for impact.

There's been legends saying that around 1 of the turns that wild mouse has been a bit unstable for the safety cart being fully into place and I honestly don't know why and also is the log flume ride still at the lagoon
I cannot confirm, but I have heard that the log flume is no longer there.

This ride was horrifying the last time I went on it. It’s not because I’m scared of rollercoasters no. It’s because I had a little girl next to me who looked to be 4 or 5
I always feel like the car is going to fall of the track on the switchbacks.

Wild mouse is my least favorite coaster, it is not comfortable and the most painful ride at the park, it’s nothing but boring
