This was my 100th show! So glad to see it all captured for posterity here. I had to sneak in the side door of the venue to get into this show. It still stands as the only Phish show I ever snuck into in 356 shows and counting. It was SO cold on the lot before this show. I remember the football team jogging through Shakedown Street after their practice ended when and it was raging. Watching college football players in uniform huffing nitrous balloons and smoking joints and shotgunning beers on Shakedown was something I won't see again at a Phish show, that's for sure. Anyway, since it was so cold, I ran to my car to grab my gloves and some concessions lady left the side door of the venue to go smoke a cigarette just as I was walking to my car to get gloves. In Indiana Jones style (the door was like 1 inch from clicking shut when i slipped my hand into the doorway) I slipped in the side door as the concessions lady walked away. When I got into the venue, the band was just starting soundcheck, so I vanished into the shadows of the back of the lower bowl and watched the whole soundcheck, and then walked to the bathroom and hid in a toilet stall until I heard the crows filtering into the venue. It was a 1 of a kind Phish experience in a lifetime of epic Phish experiences, and for my 100th show no less!
Thank you for posting this! This was my 3rd phish show. Seen dozens since but this one I'll never forget as a I was a student at Illinois State University at the time-- and after undercover police started enforcing drug laws around the venue it became a real mess. A group of fans started being verbally aggressive toward police, who called for backup, and I knew Phish was never coming back to Redbird Arena. To this day I don't understand why the police decided to start enforcing marijuana laws at this particular show but it got really messy really quick. Was a fantastic show, I avoided all the disturbance and a had a great time!
99 was fall was so much fun, 2nd year of college south east missouri, hit this show, the pyramid, allstate, drove back to the dorms after each one…. they were in and out quick for this one. 2nd set of the pyramid is still up there as one of my favorites…. 2nd best 2001 ever ! to bad it’s a bass pro shop now:(
My first show, I was a junior in high school in Pekin, drove up with my friends doing nitrous in the car I took strong spiderman blotter acid and had the time of my life. I have a son now and am 40 and as much as I loved my youth all I can think of is wow that was dangerous I hope Henry isn’t in inconsiderate little assbag that huffs nitrous on the interstate and drives under the influence of LSD
I know man. I can barely believe I survived my teen years. I grew up 15 mins from the Canadian border, and we could get into their bars at 15 years old. I can clearly remember my buddy driving the wrong way down the Trans-Canada one night for like 5 miles until the next exit, after somehow mistaking an offramp as an onramp. There were 6 of us in the car too. And that was just one of hundreds of insane nights.
I wish the band hadn't stopped playing Uncle Pen. It's been like 7 or 8 years now. I love the guitar in that song. I've always been a big fan of the bluegrassy tunes like that though. Ginseng Sullivan, Paul & Silas, Nelly Kane etc, but Uncle Pen is the best one imho

Glory days of my life started a few weeks before in memphis (9/29)-and jumped off after this one -was a nice little run
Only show I saw this tour was Pyramid in Memphis like a week before this. Then saw the 2 Cincy shows in December then Big Cypress of course
Was wondering why I couldn't find any versions of JJLC from 99 and here's a video of it plus an entire show lol
The second set is absolute fire
