      Ur revolver reaction vis is goat'ed & made my very bad day better... But yeah, for the Sgt Pepper 80% of the songs are all sort of connected up. They all flow into one another without pause. So yeah, you might be able to do another reaction to this.
      Because it will definitely hit you differrntly all flowing & linked up together. When all the songs are connected up like they are, it was one of the first albums to do that. The first sight of marvin gay's what's going on album is like that too but that was four years after this album... Whatever you do definitely listen to it by yourself in order because that's sort of the whole point to this one... You always do great reactions but the being out of order thing is Unfortunate for you not for us we like What you do but yeah i'm sad you didn't get to hear it in order that's for sure... Great reaction regardless benji: ).... This is one of those crazy albums where even if you paused in between each song to give an opinion you should probably rewind twenty seconds to the previous song so you can hear it flow into the next one.... Yeah this album's crazy like that, You wouldn't just back up the If you paused it mid song You would back up the Start of Of the next Into the previous song... I don't know, I hope that made sense LO.L

    I’m 70 now , when the album came out we took our LSD - put the album on and watched as the color and the sound would oze out of the speakers , and the vocals and music would transport you into the world of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts club and into the magical world of Lucy who lived where rocking horse people ate marshmallow pies . Hung on to the album’s lyrics and sound until - a day in the life with the longest sustained note we ever heard . When it ended we all sat in silence contemplating where we had gone .

    The Record hit big. I could be walking the neighborhood and could hear this being played all over. It was a magic summer. Everyone had a copy. My folks had a fantastic stereo system, when the folks were out I use to crank it with my friends. It sounded great. The album was a natural high. a little weed with it didn't hurt either. It was a psychedelic time. I was 19 when it came out and had been following the Beatles since , A Hard Days Night. Each album a revelation.

    It came out on vinyl record. When this album came out, it changed music forever. Really! Ask any band at the time. It raised the bar to the stratosphere! This album was being played everywhere you went. EVERY SONG on this album was being played on the radio. Brian Wilson, main songwriter of The Beach Boys, another very popular band, was said to have spent the next two years listening to this album over and over, and wouldn’t leave his bedroom or his house…because he said he couldn’t write better than those songs! His album was at the top of the charts at that time and this album knocked his album out of the number one spot and stayed there forever.
    How was it received? It was Number one album on the charts in the UK for 27 weeks and in the U.S. for 15 weeks. It won 4 Grammy awards including Album of the Year. It was the first album to print the lyrics to each song on the back of the album. There were also inserts inside the sleeve….another first. Things you could hang on your wall. The Beatles knew they had a masterpiece. They requested that the sleeve that it came in be made out of heavier cardboard because it was going to get played a lot! He was right. I have owned 3 Sgt Pepper vinyl albums in my life because listening to it is a joy! You can wear it out! You also get more out of it every time you listen to it. And….no computer technology was used. No such thing! Your ears cannot process all the sounds at once. You have to listen to these songs multiple times. And every album made after this was also as excellent as Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt Pepper’s albums.

    • @beckygrant2258
      @beckygrant2258 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      The next album that was recorded after Sgt Peppers was Magical Mystery Tour. You should listen to that album next. Why? Because some of the songs they were working on for Sgt Peppers didn’t make it on this album…it went onto that next album. All the songs on that album were great, too. Plus, they made a film to go with Magical Mystery Tour. There is a music video of Sgt Peppers, by the way. The Beatles were the first to do music videos because they just stopped touring. They never toured again because the fans were so crazy for them, screaming so loud, they couldn’t hear themselves play…and their security was often in jeopardy, too! So when they made a record, every song had to be their best work. And it was!

    There are rock legends that have described sitting down and listening to this album at the time it came out and being totally blown away from front to back. Left them speechless and emotional as some have admitted to crying on the spot that it was so moving…the first concept album…..

    • @eliaslindberg3872
      @eliaslindberg3872 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Beatles influence on rock music and integrated conceptuality in albums definitely laid the blueprint for the music that came next, but Sgt. Pepper’s is not the first concept album. Folk singers such as Woody Guthrie made conceptual albums long before its release, and the members of the Beatles themselves have said that both Beach Boys and Frank Zappa’s band The Mothers of Invention had a huge impact on pushing their creative limits, both creating concept albums before the Beatles ever did. Take a listen to Pet Sounds and Freak Out! if you haven’t already, and if jazz is your cup of tea, Charles Mingus wrote pieces which were all tied in to a poem on his avant-garde album The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady - which came out even earlier during the 60’s.

    The thing that is hard for someone who didn't live through the time of the Beatles is how different this music was from what was on the radio at the time. Yes, the songs are good, and they hold up pretty well over time. But there have been plenty of good songs since the Beatles. What the Beatles did was constantly point in the direction that pop/rock music was to go. Album after album. When it came to music, fashion and coolness, the Beatles were the tip of the spear for several years. There was nothing like it before. Yes, there were Frank Sinatra and Elvis, but they didn't write and perform their own songs, they didn't tap into the era nearly as deeply as the Beatles did. The Beatles made it cool to be British. They made it cool to play guitar. They made it cool to write mysterious songs. They made it cool to create music that was rock, folk, classical, psychedelic and pop... sometimes all at once.

    I don't know if anyone has already said this. In your past Beatles reactions, people, including me, have spoken of George Martin's contributions to the band's music. On the "Mr Kite" song, John was having difficulty with the instrumental ending... he just couldn't "get it right". So, Martin told an engineering assistant to go to the vault and find "so many feet" of caliope music (what you hear when on a merry-go-round) and bring it into the studio. Martin then cut the tape into small pieces, tossed them around and then told the assistant to "splice them back together at random". When the resulting audio was played, Lennon was absolutely delighted because it was exactly what he wanted! And that's what you hear at the close of "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite". I swear to you, if the Beatles had been signed to Decca and not EMI, the history of popular music would be so different today as to be unrecognizable.

    • @fiddleandfart
      @fiddleandfart 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, album sleeves became really part of the whole package during the Sixties! Look at the glossy front (often more inside), and read the lyrics and credits on the back! That aspect diminished with the move to CDs - and now, totally absent in streaming. We lost a lot. Sure, steaming is amazing... but do we appreciate music so much, when we don't have ownership? A thing to look at, admire, be proud to own...? To show and share with your friends!

    Really liked your reaction, brother. As a general rule, the beatle who sang it wrote it. The exception is Ringo who didn't write most of the songs he sang.
    You should find a list of which beatle sang it the next time. Lennon and mccartney always credited their work to both but in the latter years they rarely wrote together.

    Sgt. Pepper, released in June 1967, was given to me for Christmas 1974, when it was 7,5 years old (me myself was 14,5 years old). And it was unlike anything I'd ever heard before. Awesome album from start to finish. Back in the day it was equally unheard of. How did they, The Beatles, do it? This album was the start of progressive rock, unless you consider In the Court of the Crimson Kung by King Crimson the ultimate kick off for the prog movement.

    Can’t say I’m a huge fan of the Beatles, but growing up at the time, about 10 years old when this album was released, they were the only band where I knew the name of every member. Mid teens I picked music from optional subjects at secondary school, and started to appreciate the Beatles as an example of what working class kids can do with just a basic education. Lucky to have an English teacher who thought the lyrics of Elenor Rigby worth a mention alongside Wordsworth’s Daffodils in the context of describing loneliness v being alone. Elenor Rigby was buried along with her name, she never got to wander lonely as a cloud.

    18:42 There were actually a couple ways to listen to music in '67. Though very few used them yet it was available on cassette, it was on 8-track as well. If you fancied yourself an audiophile with money you might get the reel to reel tape.
    But pretty much everyone just bought the album. We didn't say vinyl, they were records.
    From there though there really was discussion on music consumption, especially amps and speakers. More power, bigger speakers, with strong bass. That carried over to the car as well.

    Benjii, I love your reactions, bruv! I love ALL Beatles albums but I grew up and, basically, discovered music/Rock & Roll through the Beatles, back when I was a young lad. My older siblings had a lot of albums around the house, and I listened to those, from about 1968 onwards. I started with the early U.S. albums like "Meet the Beatles", "Something New", and "Beatles '65" (and the Help! Soundtrack!). So, I am more bonded with those albums, as you can imagine. It looks like you are starting with late-Beatles, which is great. But, the earlier, "Beatlemania"-era albums are fantastic too! What you should keep in mind when listening to those albums (the ones from 1963 to 1965) is that A) the recording technology wasn't great and the albums were meant to be heard in Mono, rather than stereo. That is, we had Stereo versions of the albums, but Mono was the 1st iteration and sounded the best, because stereo production was in its infancy. B) keep in mind that the sound The Beatles made was TOTALLY new! If you search on Hit songs from 1962 and 1963, they are good, catchy, Pop-y, but when the Beatles came out everything else was just blown off the map! That's because they were leading with guitars, incredible Rock & Pop vocals and a HUGE Rhythm section! They just completely changed the music landscape for all time, once they hit in 1963 and again, in America, in 1964! So, enjoy those early albums, at some point. You'll probably listen to the UK/EMI versions, such as "With the Beatles", "A Hard Day's Night", and "Beatles For Sale", but don't forget about the singles they put out from this time, which are consolidated on EMI releases called "Past Masters Part 1 & 2". Enjoy!

    The order of this album is important. This was one of the earliest concept albums.
    Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and Paul McCartney had a friendly rivalry that inspired them to write some of the greatest music of all time. This album and the Beach Boys' album "Pet Sounds" really fed the rivalry. And were a result of it, as well. They are considered two of the greatest albums of all time.
    I am really enjoying this series of reaction videos.

    For many years, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was widely regarded as the greatest album of all time, a status that seemed untouchable and firmly entrenched in music history. However, over time, this iconic record has often been relegated to the background, increasingly overlooked and even disrespected, especially on contemporary "best albums of all time" lists. It seems that, as musical tastes evolved and newer generations of music listeners emerged, people began to grow tired of calling Sgt. Pepper's the definitive masterpiece. Despite its undeniable historical significance and groundbreaking influence, the album now faces a wave of reconsideration, as many argue that it no longer holds the same cultural weight it once did. This shift is particularly evident when you see that it wasn't even included in Apple's recent list of the best albums of all time:(
