Although you have already saw the private doctor but you also need to register all the issues to your GP so that they can refer you to see the specialist doctor through NHS like the Great Western Eye in Paddington. This is very important for the long run as they can provide continuous regular check up with the specialist from the NHS system. Don’t forget to register with local dentist under NHS as well.
Coco哥, I had rhinosinusitis few years ago. My GP advised me to go private rather than NHS, as the waiting list could be long. I also went to Bupa Cromwell, but I had health insurance through work. I didn't have to pay. The consultant was excellent. My rhinosinusitis is cured.

We in HK must be careful and prepared for the Disease X because students from the UK are coming back to HK for the summer break. Margaret's eye problem is not uncommon and I know from my doctor friends in England that ophthalmologists in the UK are very good at this kind of eye problems.

All health issues we UK people always go to see our free registered NHS GP first, then GP will arrange necessary free NHS Specialist referrals usually seen in a few weeks -- I used to have company benefit family private insurance but we have NEVER need to use it for years and years -- so it seems all these money expenses could all be saved by waiting for just a few more days or weeks to see a free specialist which doctors do exactly the same treatments (with much better NHS equipment and resources) as the private ones ;)
£350 for one consultation with a private doctor sounded about right. The average was around £250 quite a few years back. Historically most of these private practices & specialists are located in central London, mainly in the West End, like the famous Harley Street. The NHS offers the same specialist service as private but due to demand & funding issue, you are often asked to wait for anything from a few weeks up to a few months, depending on your area & the severity of your illness. For specialists & surgeons like what Margaret needed, you will find that many of them (often at professor level) operating in the private sector are actually the same people also working for the NHS as senior consultants. In terms of quality, the service is the same & in fact sometimes the NHS equipment is better than those in private hospitals. Some GP service though in this country could be a bit of hit & miss from time to time so it is good that you could afford to pay for a 2nd medical opinion if you need it. The local British people often moan about the NHS & the waiting list but most of them are clueless on how expensive private is as they are shielded by the NHS from birth to death. In the UK, people got used to the idea it is their right to have free medical care but in reality it is funded by the taxpayers & government borrowing. It costs an average £260 bn a year to fund the NHS . As you can imagine, NHS pops up as a hot topic every time when the general election comes around!
I bought my private health insurance last month with clear health. That includes 3 consultations a year. The annual premium is £780 with no excess (I’m 46). After 3 consultations, I will need to pay full price, but insurance will cover all tests and scans, etc. The insurer is AXA PPP. I choose The Spire hospitals within the UK.
The best thing is that it includes doctorcareanywhere, which you can have unlimited private GP consultations via video call or telephone within hours 24/7. They can then refer you to consultant directly without waiting for your local NHS GP.
I went to NY Chinatown for acupuncture, and it costed $220 US each time, cash only. At the end, you mentioned the billing, it is called as Honor system. It means they assume that you are an honest person and has highly morality. They think you deserve the respect and will pay the bill. It is very common in the western country.

最尾提及不即時收費部份： 西方社會崇尚 honour system ，日常生活及人際之間互相信任、互相尊重， 相信一般人不會不知廉恥做出貪婪、有失人格或犯罪行為， 這些價值觀深入血液，並不奇怪，但對於華人社會來說的確難以理解（甚或有些人會佔便宜）。
冇錯，正如我係香港打美資工，入職除左身份證之外，乜都唔洗睇，唔洗對cert，就係講個信字。習慣華人文化既唔會明白了，甚至會好震撼。
以前的欧美没有那么多的移民，诚信系统做得好好。但多咗移民之后，因移民沒受过诚信教育，或生长的环境充满欺骗和謊言，好多移民会覚得本地人好笨，事实上，当你住耐咗、习惯咗，会感觉轻松。这也是溶入和认同欧美文化的一个部分。去到一个新地方，覌察和尊重当地人的习惯及不因个人行为对他人造成干扰，那么就一定会受欢迎。

香港人係香港壞左，小小事 傷風感冒頭暈身㷫，就即刻去睇急症室( 當然唔會指責啲比較收入少嘅人,我指係一般人)， 或者去睇私家醫生，所以令香港醫療系統超負荷，不能平均及善用公共資源，也令可能醫療質素出問題。英國係兒童及學童健康保健很完善。
一般不是太嚴重的在外國都是自己去藥房買藥搞掂， 而且英國嘅藥物比香港平。 如果一發現你有嚴重或者突發緊急事故nhs會第一時間跟進。
這一點喺公共政策上同行honour system意念 一樣, 要使用服務者自行守誠信. 當然地球上有啲無誠信國家嘅人,覺得呢個係好蠢嘅系統，果D人覺得可以呃得就呃咁一樣。
個人意見，不喜勿插。
我女兒K2都有1，2個同班同學跟你女兒一樣有散光，其實好普遍。而且我女兒當時也有lazy eye 問題。帶了眼鏡後到小一，二問題便解決了。但散光那位同學比較手尾長。小朋友好容易弄壞眼鏡，都係用全膠匡眼鏡比較好和安全。
唔洗擔心。我細細個都同Margaret一樣，睇眼科跟進！無問題既，帶眼鏡眼到野，開心 曬
margaret可以聽得出係咩音嗰種能力叫"perfect pitch"。係天生嘅，唔係個個都得！所以日後可能佢喺音樂方面會有好好嘅發展。

Margarit同我個仔一樣，Reception，學校check到後去NHS眼科醫院滴放大瞳孔藥水，check 到二百幾散光加少少近視，我哋都去配左兩副眼鏡。而家每三個月複診一次，(3歲起香港check 已經見到散光嗰一欄有數字, 問嗰時視光師，佢話可能因為小朋友郁, 唔問佢都唔講，仲話好正常,)

私家眼科真係唔熟，但係英國NHS睇完醫生配藥係好好，每款藥大概9鎊不限幾多粒藥，長期要食藥嘅話有pre-payment certificate，可以喺張cert期間內任配藥，係可以比喺香港慳好多錢平好多
我女4歲去健康院檢查，都check係天生散光三百幾度再加遠視二百幾度加弱視，之後每半年去醫院1次。

我散光唔係天生，我之前睇野夜晚睇燈既無散圈，有一日發現隻眼係咁，驗眼有100度散光，我懷疑係揉眼揉到眼球變左形（我長期帶con有時乾會揉眼），但帶左Con係無散光問題唔會睇到散圈
我在香港旺角睇耳鼻喉科﹐最低消費$1500包藥，未計要照其他儀器啊！

澳洲公民除車牌有相，連醫療咭係無相，睇GP, 入醫院，睇眼科等等一定要出示醫療咭(medicare card) 或私人保險咭。醫療加拿大最好，除後係澳洲medicare，英國NHS 就麻麻。
If you worry you should call your GP they can refer you and its short waiting time.

Coco哥你好，我講講我的經歷你知可作参考，我仔仔今年已27歲，在英國出世，他在4歲時在學校驗眼發現有問題，我第一時間去眼鏡公司檢查發現一隻眼睛有弱視，當時我第一反應就去睇家庭醫生，由他去寫信睇轉科，不用一星期就去醫院做詳細的檢查，之後每3個月都要去醫院例行檢查和進度，直至1O前他已完全無問題就close case。所以我見以你去睇GP把女女的情况告知他，由他去寫信轉屆你去睇政府的眼科是很容易，因為他們很注重小孩的。你不防再睇GP
佢個制度，先醫後數，唔會因為冇錢得不到冶療，一視同仁，散光好多小朋友都有，及早發現冇事，多數遺傳父母近視，我個仔係一樣小問題。

小朋友最好戴全膠框鏡架，輕身無咁易爛，我個女3歲開始戴眼鏡（佢同Margaret同年架😆，又係天生有散光），一直戴膠框，韓國製造，品質很好，唔知英國有無入口，touch wood無爛過。
品牌叫Yomato，近耳仔部分是軟膠，唔會un住隻耳，我女第一次戴已經無投訴，眼鏡還配了一條可拆除的橡筋帶，可以箍住個頭，係屋企不用戴，出街返學會用，大大減低小朋友飛甩眼鏡的機會。CoCoGor你睇吓英國有無類似眼鏡，無的話可以叫親友係香港買然後寄俾你。
