Thanks for this Steve. I like collecting vintage kit and it's really good to see a working review from someone who knows and uses a particular piece of equipment.
I'd love to have one someday. It's one of the first rigs I used as a new Novice in 1990. My elmer supplied his Argosy for our group's 1A field Day ops and since I was the youngest ham in the group, I stayed up all night and made a bunch of QSO's (alone because all the OT's couldn't make it past midnight). Brings back some of the best memories. CUL Steve - Curt K8AI
I love that era of entry level TenTec rigs... I had a Century 22 which was about the same as an argosy but with no phone... wish Ida never gotten rid of that rig
I now have 2 Argosy 1st gen. Serial numbers, #231 and 903, transceivers. I have one power supply and one DC hookup. Looking for a series II, or D model. Both have optional filters, noise blanker, crystal calibrator. One of them has the amp relay and the CW filter installed in bottom of radio.

The Century 22 has a direct conversion receiver. The Argosy has a superhet receiver that is better at dealing with QRM.
My first rig was a Triton IV w analog display and I’ll always be spoiled by the TenTec audio tone and beautiful transparent QSK.
My first rig was a Corsair, so this one strikes a "note" with me. Thanks for the demo Steve.
