Beethoven's 5th symphony...Thats the Classical version you were trying to say....ELO knocks it out of park...Chuck Berry was a classic but Elo added to it and picked it up a bit and added the orchestra and strings to it all....Chuck didnt have the 5th symphony version in his song nor all the string instruments or orchestra backings...Just did it with a electric guitar, piano and drums...basically all the 50's early 60's weapons of ear drums destructions used back in the day....ELO gave it more substance.

If you want to hear them doing the Chuck Berry song Maybelline and Blasting everything out of the water, that's your jam. It's incredible. Chuck Berry played Rock and Roll. '50s era Elvis Presley played Rock and Roll. Carl Perkins played Rock and Roll. Calling these guys hillbillies was an attempt to diminish their greatness and an excuse to pay them less. But their records became so popular that they became millionaires anyway. The term Rockabilly became excepted because these guys were rich, but it was a slur in the beginning.

ANY aspiring rock group has to be able to play Chuck Berry - and all the top groups have at least one Chuck in their repertoire (Beatles, Stones, Springsteen, ELO, etc.). This one is great and highlights Jeff Lynne's playful sense of humour. "Roll Over Beethoven" is one of those tracks where there's not really a competition between different versions. I have seven!!!
Angela: You must listen to Chuck's original to appreciate the lyrics fully (Jeff makes a few mistakes). Then listen to ELO's studio version to get some of the subtleties this live version doesn't have. Lastly, listen to "Rockaria" for more Jeff Lynne humour.

You NEVER heard Chuck Berry do this song. You have to listen to ALL of his songs. ELO is good but, no one can do a Chuck Berry song like Chuck Berry. There wouldn’t be Rock n’ Roll without Chuck Berry.

Awful sound quality but no mistaking the superior sound of ELO.

This was alright but the studio recording is much better than this particular live performance.

Wow, that was epic! Chuck Berry released this song in 1956. Many other artists covered it but the most familiar version to me is The Beatles cover in 1964. I still prefer the Beatles version.

This is a good version, The Beatles did a much better version but none can top the original by Chuck Berry. ✌️

Original is way better. This coming from someone who this song was before my time. They musicianship is excellent. Original is better as a pure record.
