Hello from Ukraine. You are very cool. Sorry to suggest, but if you shift the axis of rotation of the door inward by a couple of millimeters, then under the influence of gravity, the bottom of the door will press itself without outside help. Again sorry if I offended you.
I honestly don't remember subscribing to you, but the second I read the title, I knew this is why I subscribed. Anyone who would make a barrister bookcase, especially a small one just for knick knacks is exactly someone I like.
Man! That is a great job! There are so many option that that design could have as well. A small drawers as well as glass doors. Spectacular work Brother.
wow so that's how you make those rolling doors that go up. i wonder why there aren't more of these style cabinets because space is so precious, these are are not only beautiful but very practical. stunning. i wonder if i can try this with osb and pallet wood!
You have an incredible shop. Can I make one suggestion for the Barrister cases. Put a small flat magnet on the lower door frame and one on the case side. even glue on strip magnets will to hold the door closed.
My son was recently given a set of shelves like those. His is about 24, maybe 28 inches wide, and a 12 inches deep. I love 💘 their sturdiness, even when stacked!
Thanks Kyle. It’s one of the more expensive doweling jigs out there but it does a great job. When you think of it as a joinery system that can be used in every project, it’s not so bad. I’m actually making a video about the jig soon so stay tuned!
Nice! I love the design and appreciate seeing the details of construction. This just the type of cabinet I want to build a few of to add to my French cleat wall for enclosed storage. Thank you for posting
Those are really nice. I thought you should have made them with only miniature hand tools but then that block plane and router table did look to be about half size.
Fantastic work, amazing craftsmanship! Such attention to detail and precision! I think I would add some magnets to the doors so they wouldn't dangle when closing. But who knows, it's so stunning the way it is lol. Congrats!
I love this so much!! besides that the shelves are quite cute at miniature scale (wish I could see them in their final location - is it for a kids room or kitchen display or...?); the small scale makes it easier to follow what’s going on in the video - like it’s easier to see what part of the design you’re working on. Thanks! also that drill jig is A+
I struggle so much with Walnut locally. I think it must have something to do with the stock from my hardwood dealer. I rip it and it warps as Im cutting it. Had it happen with a bunch of boards so far.
Ya it happens with a lot of species. It’s pretty frustrating. One way to work around is by cutting your components to rough dimension then milling. As an example, in this video I cut all of the door parts into small strips them milled them. If I were to mill a wide board then cut all of true strips at the table saw, they may warp and then I’m stuck with wonky wood. Hope that helps.
Plans available here: www.parillaworks.com/shop/barrister
Does the plans give a list of tools to use as well?

Interesting to see the light below your router table.. 👍
Stunning and simple, makes this piece very elegant. I think I'll have to make a similar piece now.

That shot at 14:05 with the jointer coming off the reflection is 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!! It’s one of my favorites too. Happy accident on the jointer in the glass 🙃
There should be a way to express multiple likes!
Thanks so much Joan!
amazing job. I was super stoked on that doweling jig until I saw it was $225 lol.

So beautyful, is a wonderful work, the formas, wood colors, brass, glass ... is a magic combination.
Fantastic work. I might steal the design and rotate it to have the lid on top for a spice jar box I’m making for a friend
I was thinking while watching you make them that they would make beautiful display cabinets--glad your mom will be using them for that!
I had only seen some updates on IG and did not realize the scale of this piece until watching the video. Nice work!
Absolute craftsmanship and turned out great. That diy router table 5:00 is amazing you should really make a video on that. I would love to make one.
Thank you! The router table is a Veritas offering from Lee Valley, very handy.
Ok, those are just gorgeous!! Congratulations.
Thanks Shawn!

This is soooo fine and so satisfying to watch
I have a collection of miniature books that would go perfect in that beautiful piece of work.
Those are really nice. I thought you should have made them with only miniature hand tools but then that block plane and router table did look to be about half size.
I need more mini tools!
Incredible job! Very nice. I love it!!

VERY cool.
Awesome project! May I suggest the tiniest of magnets behind the doors so that they close flush to the case?
Thanks! I was going to but sort of ran out of time. I might add them later though.
