Incredibly beautiful! I am so glad you guys got to explore Yosemite. I love how much you appreciate the beauty of nature and share the views. So many other thru hiking trails ignore this part of hiking vlogging. Thanks for taking us along!

So AWESOME, thank you. You inspired me to do a teeny backpack trip out of tioga pass this coming Wednesday, Juneteenth holiday for me. I’m starting the JMT later and have been looking for el gain practice. I’m 60 and know I could not do what you did through the Sierra so I appreciate watching your journey.

Spring of 1982, I ran up the trail to the bathroom at Vernal Falls bridge every day, with a large plastic bag of toilet paper rolls and cleaning supplies and ran back down. People kept using an out of order toilet on the women’s side and we weren’t plumbers. I placed a huge slab of granite on top of the toilet bowl, that spanned the booth. My relief commented that noone moved it.

You both are beasts! I have backpacked all through that area and what you accomplished in a day with a full pack going that direction is amazing!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Clouds Rest is my favorite YNP hike !!! Great video of the return to Tenaya Lake - the river was swollen, huh? 😉
    I'm enjoying your adventure!

That is a crazy 6000 vert climb on Mist trail out of valley. I did that in 2021 only to get close to Vogelsang when heavy! Smoke rolled in from Kings Canyon fires: wind change. Had to turn around and go back down :-(
Beautiful pink penstemon flowers-they come in purple and red too. Zoo those critters love you!-Turtle

The *High Sierra*, baby. A totally different animal than the front range.
Supposedly Muir told his socialite acquaintances in San Francisco about the high peaks beyond the Valley.
And thus were launched decades of exploratory expeditions that mapped out and laid down the paths we still travel to this day.

I love that hike from Happy Isles to Clouds Rest! So rewarding. But yeah, a difficult day trip, especially if you have to get back down to Happy Isles for YARTS 😵.

Incredible views today! You guys are so fit to accomplish that kind of a climb out of Yosemite Valley with full packs. I like how you identify the aircraft when you see them! Looking forward to the next part of PCT. 😊

Epic views! Yosemite was my playground when I was young so I know your pain trudging up outa the valley. Straight uphill! 😢. Good goin!

So, you didn't get to go up Half Dome. IMO your consolation prize of Clouds Rest was a better option than Half Dome. You get to look down on Half Dome with a great view of Mt. Watkins and many more as well. That was one heck of a day that you put in.

The deer know they are safe in the national parks so they are quite tame.

Somebody is coming back to do HD and Whitney ...
There are 4 eastside trails with 6-7k gain over 9-10 miles; in your condition you guys could easily hike them.
One of them - Shepard - also provides a great 3-4 day hike exiting via Whitney.

Careful when you get to Stubblefield Canyon water crossing, likley 2 days from your current camp spot. I suspect by the time you read this you will have already finished Stubblefield water crossing …. It’s a challenge …. probably chest deep. Looking forward to seeing that video.

Crummy you weren't able to snag a Half Dome permit, it would have topped off your Yosemite experience. At least you got to do Clouds Rest. Hiking from the valley to Tioga Lake would take the average person three nights due to the elevation gain, you guys did it in a day!

    What an amazing side quest!!!
I’m curious (for personal planning reasons) were you restricted to which trails you could use to get back to the PCT? Ie. not use the JMT trail?

    • @RachandDanOutdoors
      @RachandDanOutdoors  15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

No we could have used the JMT but we wanted to do clouds rest!
Since Tioga Road was closed when we went in (it's open now) we were allowed to hike back to the PCT without a Little Yosemite Valley Permit. The permit is really easy to get at the wilderness center if you would prefer to hike back instead of take the YARTS
