In this video from Cateel, Davao Oriental we go on a life adventure with Anselm, my Welsh friend who lives in the Philippines. We started calling him Commander Daot... but really he is just awesome! I think it is so impressive how he is living local here in Mindanao and trying his best at a fish pond business in Cateel.

As a Fishery Technology graduate I experienced before the hardships on how to work and venture into Aquaculture field. There are lots of problems you are going to encounter i.e. the frequent typhoons that visited the Philippines that would eventually eradicate your fish stock due to flood, the fish thieves that will harvest your stock at midnight, variable brackish water temperature that will affect the oxygen content of the pond's water and algea growth. the presence of nuisances that will compete with the fish stock on fish meal and algea consumption. And the most headache is on how to find the competent and reliable buyers of your products to give you profit. But I salute this Bitoy guy who bravely ventured on aquaculture business.

anselm makes do with a third world acommodation while being from a first world country, very humble and he is quite comfortable with it, very admirable. not a lot of folks from very advanced nations could do his lifestyle, heck not even a lot of filipinos could live like that....couldn't help it but i'm smiling all throughout this edition.

We are nolonger refered to as 3rd world. The term is DEVELOPING COUNTRY. It takes away the negative connotations and other derogatory immagery from the phrasial coinage of 3rd world.
I'm impressed with commander D (Anselm) his determination put him above tjose circumstances. Having those problems must've been hard even for us filipinos living on provinces. We're afraid of losing money, much more thriving above these problems occuring today. Proud of the British man! My Aunt and cousins are also British, my uncle had brought them to the U.S. in the late 80s. Your doing an awesome job! From Maryland in the U.S. to you in the Philippine. By the way my BF and his family are originally from Manila but moved hear as well as some of the Filipino family reside in Australia as well, so family all over. Stay STRONG my friends!!

Without fod leads any person from starvation. Just make sure you know the value of the fish to be sold in the market. By the way kuya, your payag-payag is super cool. Just cover with zeal on the sides n covered the flooring with waterproof flooring ( no bugs gets in)....you are surrounded with ponds. Slowly but surely business.
