DPM for anything that will end up internal.....NEVER for anything that will stay external. That's the way I would look at it, Justin, so I full agree with you leaving it out.👍
Now I'm going back to watch the rest of the video! 😂😂
Yea im still set on that aswell Jim totally agree .
Enjoy the video and appreciate your opinion mate 👍 👌
Yet another brilliant job guys! Those lads are coming on strong Justin, so good to see you sharing a pint after a good day's hard graft - well deserved too! Thank you for taking the time and trouble to edit and upload, looking forward to the next one!

Great work Justin once again 👍
Appreciate Christian 🧱👍
Hi Justine
Thank you but we as a company have learnt a lot from you lads doing the hard landscaping and techniques such as that curved wall and setting out mate , that you did , it’s how we all progress mate and learn , keep safe mate and well done love your work ? ❤👍👍
Yea spot on john all learning off each other.
Sat in the van on a dry day and its raining cant win at mo mate .
Anyway thanks again and take care mate 👍
Top job lads, I would be over the moon with a job like that 👍

Nice one thanks
Absolutely amazing job guys. The customer must be over the moon. Looking forward to seeing your next master piece
Really appreciate that Marshall thankyou mate 👍
Looks spot on that lads 👍
Nice one Danny mate 👍
I agree on the DPM under the concrete pal. Even if you get rising damp it will be equally spread so frost thaw should be equal too.
Spot on Tony mate 👌
That looks mint 👏👌
Thanks Tony 👍
What about them drains Justin 😆😆😆 lovely job buddy. Going 1 smart looking garden.
🤣🤣🤣 cheers lee mate 🤣👍
Classy job that Justin 👌, when i worked in Germany and we had a big pour coming the Krauts would just change and go completely panic mode it was crazy to see.The biggest problem with moisture content in concrete slabs is if you are laying Porc on it with adhesives, once its grouted the moisture cant escape and pops the tiles.
Thanks Andy.
Concrete does that to people mate 🤣.
Yea i had to be careful not to lay on it to soon but wise words as usual and appropriated .
Will watch your herringbone video when i get chance been following that with interest .hope you enjoyed Africa 🌍 👍
Another beautiful job Justin. You and the lads seem to be really becoming a well oiled machine .
The whole job looks amazing mate ( as always ) 🙌🏽👏🏽🧱👍🏼
@SteveAndAlexBuild
Thanks Steve yes the lads are doing well .
Thanks Steve appreciate it 👍 🙌🧱
Lovely job lads .I would only put DPM down if I was going to a 2.4 meter wall round some windows a door and a roof on 😂😂👍👍
Thanks and i agree fully 👍🤣
Thanks and i agree fully 👍🤣
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 😂😂👍👍👍
FFS Justin, you've gone up to DPC!
Ha, I was wondering what had happened to this job.
Good idea on the don't slurry, minimize delamination.
Brill result! 🍻
Set myself up for that didn't i Rich 🤣🤣.
Cheers always appreciate you mate 👍
Justin 👌
Looks fantastic. Well done.
Thanks JC appreciate it 👍🙌
As usual, cracking job 👌
Cheers Nath mate 👍
Hi Justin,
I spoke with my concrete supplier and he said that it cures at the rate of 1mm per day. So a 100mm slab takes 100 days before anything is laid on it. He went into it a bit but who does that, its over 3 months. I think you have done well with the time that you left it. The guy also told me that concrete continues to harden for about a hundred years. Don't know if thats right but thats what I was told. Thats going to be a lovely job when finished. I wish I had laid my concrete myself. I had a really bad job off the guys who supplied and laid it. It takes some nads to cut the tiles freehand like that fair play. regards Gareth
Hi Ga
Hmmm 28 days is the common thought on curing but im open to more info so thanks for sharing that.
Yea we cut the tiles free hand just needs confidence thats all Ga.
Sorry you had a bad job .
Appreciate the comments and hope your well
Justin 👍
I'm good thanks Justin, getting on with life and glad to be hear as they say. I didnt know that about concrete though, my experience is that as soon as its set the brickies are all over it! cheers Gareth@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@ghl3488 glad to here your ok Ga .
Yea with footings soon as its layed jump on but this was a slab and i was in effect sealing it with a non porus product so the water vapour would of been trapped hence my concern.
All good in the end though 👌
Well, I hadn't thought of that, you live and learn I guess@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
very smart looking
Appreciate it edward
Nice.
Attention to detail is superb. One question, is it a lot more difficult to mitre the corners? I see a couple of outfits on TH-cam who out mitres in and it looks great but no idea how much more work goes into it.
Appreciate the comment. Its just more time so the more you do the higher the price 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping thanks, I thought as much. Looks to me like mites are time-consuming.
@DM-hp7ct
Yes they definitely are 🤣👍
cracking job
Cheers Jay 👍
ur welcome wud love that at mine but funds and from wales ain't going to happen lol
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
@jaybillyjosh
Id like it at mine aswell Jay 🤣👍
Beautiful porcelain driveway good job lads. 👍 Are those Marshalls?
Thanks James appreciate it.
No not marshalls mate client supplied them cant remember the name of em sorry 👍
I agree - no dpm. Needs the breathe in my opinion
Hi Justin
Lovely job mate 🙏❤️ great work , as u know civil engineering is my trade pal and never unless ground water table is excessive use a dpm externally mate ! And only then you have to create drain offs and specialised water sumps👍You will create a swimming pool effect as well as trap all the moisture forcing it upwards , concrete drys at 1mm in 24 hrs at 18oc mate and we don’t get that in the uk , they say the inside of the hoover dam is still not dry and not fully set yet ? Concrete is a wonderful product but has many variables expansion being 1 of many 😂❤ although you can add accelerants it only cures the surface tension and is not used in many structural requirements for its weakening of the product 🙏👍 right now I’ve got over that lol ❤️❤️👍 but glad to see you using a pad for porcelain , not many do as the curing of this means a lay off time of about 3 months ! Hence why a lot shy away from it ! I don’t have a lot of faith In merchants technical helplines ( I’ve had a run in with a few ) basically they are salesmen no university degree in what they are on about reading from a product info chart , I ask them to send me an email stating what they have said to put in the clients folder in case of failure so we can seek recovery of costs ? And guess what not got one yet ! Right rant over lol stunning work mate , and get the lads on the concrete mate ❤❤️👍 tip mate if building a house etc you can come up to damp as long as you put a cavity tray and vents in just above damp pal most local authority’s allow this and building control will sign it off as long as you have pics and notify the in advance so they can visit it if they want ! Keep safe mate and keep out the storms pal , wishing you and the lads well as we enter the silly weather season ❤️❤️👍🙏
You no what John .
Ive learnt so much off many knowledgeable people like yourself willing to share there information on our channel. Thats a great post that John always such a privilege being able to learn off you mate .Top posts there fairplay to you knowledge is king mate .
I hope your doing alright and your feeling better things wouldn't be the same without you mate .
Always appreciate your views and opinions .
Stay safe give my best to the lads and family.
Thanks John 👍 👍👌🙌🧱x
Great job Justin 👏 1 question did you lay the tiles on a grit sand bed or a standard Mortar mix thanks for the advise. Keep up the back breaking work 😅
Thanks Colin.
Layed with a grit sand .4 sand 1 cement good luck 👍
Top job, Shame your not local to Bedfordshire. Do you have a video on how you did the manhole cover? I have a manhole that's about 700x550 that I need to recess
Thanks very much .
I do have videos but they are mixed into parts of other videos.
Ill have to do one 👍
Hi, Brilliant Job 👍. What depth was the concrete above MOT. Thanks. Habib
About 100mm 👍👌👊
Very conscious regarding letting said concrete cure properly which got me thinking when pouring footing for a property the bricklayer is building on it the next day should that not have a few weeks to cure properly just a thought
Nar its ok to do that its a different situation which is fine 👍🧱🧱
Great job! Can i ask what type of porcelain was used as i really like it and thinking of using it on my own project.
Thanks Adam unfortunately its now discontinued mate 😞 👍
Did you cut any expansion joints in the concrete?
Good question.
I didn't as its under 5 or 6 meters each way 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping fair enough, very mixed answers some say you should and some say not needed, typical landscaping
@pro-patiolandscapes4350
My technical at marshalls said no need as it was small.
Anything above 6-9 m long would need an expansion joint especially in concrete.
Your right should be more accurate advice given on it 👍
If im wanting to put a drainage channel up to threshold for no step from inside to out, how do i stop the damp on inside??
Thats a contentious subject dermot .Ideally on a new build you'd lap over the dpm to the external skin to form a tray .As your existing older property's you should be 150mm below dpc to outside ground level.
Although a lot of people no longer want this .Ive worked with architects and building control and in my experience they just ask for a 150mm deep eco drain to run at damp level the length of your paving with a viable outlet .Thats has been allowed with us .
I would suggest you contact local building control for advice in your area .Could add the drains in 150 mm below and the come off and raise your patio level mate .its a difficult one that hope thats helpful 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping 👋 thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm over in northern ireland an its an older property. I'm def not wanting a step. I will contact my local building building control
Top job that Justin 👌 what grade concrete did you use for the driveway?
Thanks .
Dont no i just told mixit what it was for and that it had steel in it they did the rest 👍
Hi mate what was the depth of your concrete
The we did 150mm will sat on the video 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping hi mate I watched twice couldn’t find that part but I very much appreciate you replying as always thank u Justin keep safe
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping so was it 150 mot 150 concrete
So 350 depth with porcelain 20 and bed 30 ?
@Boxingfirst
I just watched it all and your right the thickness of concrete isn't on there is it.
Must be on another video somewhere.
I remember it was 150 mot and 150mm concrete with 20mm porcelain and 30mm mortar bed so 350mm total .you can lay the concrete at 100mm think but im sure we did 150mm thick to over engineer it .
Sorry should of made that more clear in the video 👍🙌
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping
Never apologise your videos are great I own landscapes bye Gareth and I’m always really busy with all aspects of patios over 30 years but I still jump on TH-cam and either u Johnny or Scot for reassurance your all great 👍 love from Manchester thanks
A few more of those Madris and he’ll be able to lay the porcelain himself
🤣🤣🤣 liam 🤣🤣
FFS Justin you spilt the beer, good job though.
I no 🤣🤣🤣👍
Slippery when wet frost damp early morning . Don't like them .
If you dont like them thats absolutely fine no issue. As for slippery when wet rubbish they have a slip rating for external use of R11 even when soaked you will never slip on them
you should be 100mm below DPC 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Nick 🤣🤣🤣👍
