Interesting video. We use okuma machines at my shop. And for drills or protruding tools we have to indicate the spindle bore via tool holder and calculate zero( so centerline is always zero. The process for a boring bar different of course. But I see how this works.

How to move tailstock in some exact position in the use of g codes or m codes
You can position the Tail stock using a “G0 B-10.”Command or any distance away from its home position.
