Hi Becca! Great video! U are like a breath of fresh air on here! I dont bother with Social Media but love Utube and watching content like yours. Having a very modest collection is smart. I found your reviews concise and precise. Im so glad your on here! Will watch out for your vids, having a female prospective is important. Well done and keep up the fab work! 😊
The Lost Boys is a fantastic 80s movie. Really cool, fun and an amazing soundtrack. Remember the first time I saw it in October 88 on VHS rental. Instantly had an impact on my friends and I
@@beccajohnsonn How come you only have Hotfuzz? where is shaun of the dead , and At worlds End? all three films are by the same director and also form thethe cornetto trilogy
Awesome collection, i still collect DVDS i recently cancelled my Netflix subscription, i love watching the bonus features and i can watch my favorite shows any time i want, i loved man of steel, they should have made man of steel 2 instead of batman v superman, i don't think man of steel 2 will ever be made, i also loved Top Gun Maverick
I've also stopped pay for Netflix. I realized that I just pay that monthly fee but never watch anything. I just waste money on that. I've continued to collect more DVDs and Blurays. The problem is how to store all copies. I bought some shelves from Ikea. I don't care so much about the bonus features on the discs. I care most about the actual movies and TV shows. I also love when there's Extended Versions. So for example Lord Of Rings and Hobbit trilogies as extended versions. The versions at cinemas are always "The Producer's Cut" but when we are lucky we can but "Director's Cut" that is the extended version. A great example is my Terminator 2 DVD box with one disc for the cinema version ans another disc for the extended version. I wish I can find the extended version on Bluray! The extended version adds some more scenes with more visual effects (CGI). Pretty cool! Another amazing copy is the alternative version of Godfather Part 3. Not seen it yet because I bought it so recently. What I've read: it got another ending. When I buy and watch movies I don't wanna read the info/plot/summary. I just care about the art cover, the movie title and then watch the movie. NO SPOILERS 😇 but sometimes I actually read the info about a movie. I'm not perfect. Also got some 3D movies. My collecting focus: Marvel & DC (superheroes) Action Scary movies (horror like Saw) Comedy Adventure Not so much into romantic movies. Wish I could calculate how many of my movies that are Hollywood movies. Probably a huge share/percentage 🥺🥺 Hollywood is so crazy good at making movies but at the same time also a huge propaganda machine. Just look at the Indiana Jones movies: it's all about propaganda - the americans vs the germans pre-WW2. Those germans created the first Titanic movie during WW2 actually as a propaganda movie to show how bad UK is when the unsinkable ship sank. There are so crazy many propaganda movies made. I'm not the best one to identify if a movie is propaganda or not but I can tell from some movies :)
Hey Becca! New to your channel. You came recommend on my YT feed & like supporting fellow people in the community and I have to say… What a collection!!! 🙂
I have almost all of these movies on blue-ray. The Great Gaspy, Kick-ass (2010), The Breakfast Club (1985), Annabelle: Creation, The Conjuring, Get Out, A Nightmare on Elm Street movies (Dvd+Blue-ray), Interstellar, Sicario, Taken, Hot Fuzz, Man of Steel, jaws, Arrival, Black swan, the dark knight trilogy, the lost boys, scream, and mad max: fury road.
@@beccajohnsonnme too Becca, not so keen on the second one, as a movie and TV series afficionado, i have a brain filled with great content, form very old content to very new content, but not the new woke ones, i hate that, if you ever want to see a great old sci-fi movie, then take a look at forbidden planet, with Anne Francis and Leslie Nielsen (1956) great stuff 😎cheers
Hi Becca, just clicked on your channel as it was recommended and it's really great to see and hear your enthusiasm for film and physical media. Clearly looks like you're into Horror film which is great too. A very wide variety of genres on display here and alot of your thoughts on these films reflect mine.
'Kick-Ass' is what really got me into having a love for film! And yes, 'The Dark Knight Rises' does get boring at times, which is why it gets difficult for me to watch...
You have some of my favorite films on this list. Love that you gave Get Out and Kick Ass so many props. Glad you finally made your channel. Omg you're a Snyder fan. You got 30 cool points
You’re really cute. I’ve also only in the last 3 and a half years started to collect Blu Rays/4K’s. I don’t know how old you are you look very young, early 20’s maybe?. I’m in my late 20’s and old enough to remember when Blu Ray’s first came out around 2008, it didn’t really catch on with the general public as most people thought it was just a gimmick at the time. And plus they were on the expensive side when they first came out. By the time Blu Ray’s would’ve caught on with the general public that was when streaming started to become big and Blu Rays just became a thing for collectors. I’m also old enough to remember VHS tapes. As when new formats come out most of the general public take time to get used to new formats and have to wait until the new formats became cheaper and more easily accessible. The DVD came out in 1996 the very year I was born but most people didn’t have DVD’s until around 2003/2004 ish time, so the VHS tapes was still in most peoples homes until around 2003/2004. In fact somewhere i still own a 20 year old VHS tape of the movie Agent Cody Banks from 2003, I don’t know why it didn’t get thrown away but for some reason I still have that somewhere. By 2003/2004 was when most people had DVD’s so when the Blu Ray came out around 2008 most people didn’t see a difference and thought it was just a gimmick, but as I said it takes time for the general public to get used to new formats, but by the time the general public would’ve gotten used to Blu Rays, that was when streaming started to hit big.
I'm a huge media collector. That I gave up replacing all of my DVDs. So I have DVDs, Blu-rays and 4k in my collection. I've traded out some of my films that I've replaced with 4k. I still buy a mixture of DVDs and Blu-rays really cheap on Vinted. But having so many now I've doubled up on some of my films. I can't remember what I have? Maybe you would like to add them to your collection? I'm a huge fan of horror as well. Have you checked out the original Evil Dead trilogy, or the Hellraiser films? Classic horror from the 80s so much better than anything made today. Or another of my favourites, American Werewolf in London. These are all classic horrors. I know you don't like many comedy films. Have you tried the likes of Airplane from the 80s, or the Mel Brooks films....Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, silent movie, The Producers. You'll either laugh out loud or hate them. But these are comedy gold. Unlike the comedy films of the last 20 or so years
Nice video, a lot of these pics were some of my favourites as I was beginning to get into film. May I recommend branching out your tastes a little, to less 'hollywood' or 'mainstream' and broaden them to world cinema and arthouse films. They don't have to be arty films from everywhere, but maybe something like Miike - Japan, Chan-Wook - Korea, Fellini - Italy, Fassbinder - Germany, Truffaut - France, Lynch - USA, Loach - UK, Almodovar - Spain. (These are just some examples). Pick a country, find a few directors and explore them, and from there, bounce around to different genres/filmmakers/themes etc. Once I started delving a little deeper into the history of cinema, thats where I fell in love with the medium.
I didn't like the new version of the Little Women I like the old version of the movie in the old version the actors in the film I'm sure it has Christian Bale and another Rider Kirsten Dunst and clear Downes I'm not sure if you're interested or not it's just I like that old version better I'm not sure about the actors that are in it either it's just what I remember
