I was one of the only black dudes that listened to them back in the late 90s early 00s. Then I introduced to some friends and SOAD ended up in everyone's mixes. Great band, and serjs voice is dope.
Yo, when I was a kid (I'm a white dude) the guy who got me into SOAD was black (probably still is, too)! He hung out and skated with my brother, and I heard Toxicity blasting from his walkman. I asked him what it was and had my mind blown. This was like a month after I first heard Disturbed, and I was sold on metal.
The songs original name is suicide, the label didn’t think that it was a good idea to name it that so they had to change it to chop suey, that’s why (In the studio recording of the song) Serj says “we’re rolling suicide” in the beginning.
Loved your reaction and love SOAD. Any reaction by this band, I am here ☺❤ Majority of *System of a Down* songs have important messages and meanings behind it. This band is unlike any with their transition and creativity, no one sounds like them out there. The song originally titled **Suicide** but the record company wanted it changed so the band changed it "Suey" is "suicide", "chopped" in half. "This song is about how we are regarded differently depending on how we pass, like, if I were now to die from drug abuse, people will say I deserved it because I abused dangerous drugs vs if it was an accident or any other way, people would feel bad and sorry. It's the way people judge based on how a person dies. Hence *I cry when angels deserve to die* we are all God's children. This song is deep and a reason it's over a billion views, but SOAD always takes it to another level, that's why I have so much respect for them. Thank you, looking forward to more SOAD 👍❤💯 Do Prison Song with lyrics next 😁
Two of my favorite System songs "Prison Song" & "Deer Dance" are on the same album as this. Both tracks have very deep political and philosophical themes about the impact of war, police brutality, and drug abuse. They can get wild and silly for sure, but when they try, System is one of the most poignant and real bands out there. Highly recommend listening to more 😊
W vid! Ive messing w the channel for bout a year now and I grew up on Lil B and system of a down, could you and your dad possibly this year react to Lil B's most iconic songs with music vids (to educate your dad (and/or yourself) on what based means and Lil B's influence in rap) or soad's "toxicity" album? if it cant happen its all luv
The lyrics from what I understand are supposed to represent people's vices towards the beginning leading them to self-harm/suicide and people's negative perceptions of them when they do ("I cry when angels deserve to die") and the persons hopelessness ("Father into your hands/ I commend my spirit... Why have you forsaken me) as like a last cry for help. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right, but the lyrics are pretty deep
Aahhhhh!!! System is one of my absolute favorites. They are incredible. sugar and BYOB are two amazing songs. So they are similar to rage against the machine in their political leanings (anarchist - social democrats, anti war) and they are Armenian so they speak out a lot about the Armenian genocide, they are truly brilliant
I remember seeing the music video for the first time back then around the time that it was released and instantly loved the song. My grandpa on the other hand wasn’t too crazy about it lol.
Hope you react to more SOAD, Mezmerize happens to be my personal favorite, they have deep meanings to their songs and I remember having mezmerize on repeat
Any song from SOAD is great for a first time reaction. But Aerials, Lonely Day, Prison Song, are all good. Empty Walls from Serj Tankians solo work is also great. Random song suggestion: Jinjer Pisces Live Session
If you haven't yet, please react to Slipknot "Spit It Out" live download 2009...I never really got into them before, but that performance is LEGENDARY! The drummer even plays on a platform that spins around and sideways
If you are interested in drummers, you guys should check out the Drumeo video Chad Smith Hears 30 Seconds to Mars For the First Time. It is amazing to see, you won’t be disappointed!
Not sure if you guy are into current hard rock / metal.... but need to check out "Electric Callboy" they are the masters of switching up & breaking down rhytms. They are best mix and fusion of Metal + EDM + Pop, with a ton of humor and beats. Hard to describe but start with 'Hypa Hypa' or 'We Got The Moves', like nothing you have ever seen just fun, wild, and full of energy!!
Like your dad, it’s easy to miss the lyrical meaning as even the band hasn’t explained it clearly. As a Christian though, it’s actually abundantly clear. You can’t earn your way to heaven.. you will fall short (self righteous suicide) and you’ll be shocked (why have you forsaken me)
You gotta show your dad the entire Toxicity album that'd be dope asf 🔥
Highly recommend Toxicity, had it on repeat😊
His dad aint ready for deer dance lmao 😅
Maybe get his take on Prison song
I was one of the only black dudes that listened to them back in the late 90s early 00s. Then I introduced to some friends and SOAD ended up in everyone's mixes. Great band, and serjs voice is dope.
Reminds me of when i introduced my white boys to Dayton Family ....lol

his voice is one in a million
This song always reminds me of middle school. SOAD is so iconic! Glad you guys got to react to this banger.
Pops gonna love Hybrid Theory - Reanimation - Meteora run…these albums are perfect
Right?! Takes me right back to highschool 😭
I never thought of it that way but you are absolutely fuckin right lol
The joint headbanging early on just makes me smile. :)
My pops just passed 3 weeks ago, and that's the cycle of life...but, just to see your Dad vibing with you on this warmed my ❤ dog...🤙
Sorry for your loss, much luv fam 🙏🏾

You two are such a joy to watch, and you can clearly see your dad is a solid human being! Keep doing solid work!
The band. Punks emos metal heads all loved
i love that you and your dad share this music.....
Loved your reaction and love SOAD. Any reaction by this band, I am here ☺❤ Majority of *System of a Down* songs have important messages and meanings behind it. Prison Song reaction is very needed

React to System of a Down & Linkin Park's discography. It would be really cool for you guys to expand the genres
Man that StylesP intro gave me goosebumps. Hadn't heard that song in years.
Nah I feel like i'm dreaming. My favorite reactors reacting to my favorite band of all time. Please do some more System bro 🙏🙏
Highly recommend listening to more 😊
Please listen to more SOAD i think pops might need to hear more😂
The only band where I know and remember every single song they have.
First time watcher - I love you guys!! New favorite TH-cam channel 😊💗
Love the video! If SOAD grabs your interest, they have so many nuggets of gold. They keep on giving if you give them your ear.
After I first saw this video, I immediately spent all my lawn mowing $ at PacSun on cargo pants and a yellow “Split” t-shirt

The ending of this track never fails to make me tear up
Aahhhhh!!! System is one of my absolute favorites. They are incredible. sugar and BYOB are two amazing songs. Your dads reaction to this was super keyed in and wholesome.
Love the channel! Keep up the great work!
Love this reaction ❤
We grew up with these songs.
We remember our favorite Black artists, the 90s and the Age of Rap Rock Hybrids.
Hit em with the Korn and Living Colour
Korn!

Hope you react to more SOAD, Mezmerize happens to be my personal favorite, they have deep meanings to their songs and I remember having mezmerize on repeat
I remember when I was a teenager and I first saw this and the bit in the video where they all walking through each I used to find so freaky 😅
AUDIOSLAVE - Like a stone
You won’t regret it
Absolutely. Or Show Me How To Live
your dad is a vibe lol i wanna be like him when i'm older
Lyrics were motivated by all growing up in a war torn Eastern Europe and moving to America, eventually forming this band
Yep. And look at the middle east today. Then think about the lyrics for B.Y.O.B. by S.O.A.D.
armenia, their homeland, is in west asia, not europe
Any song from SOAD is great for a first time reaction. But Aerials, Lonely Day, Prison Song, are all good. Empty Walls from Serj Tankians solo work is also great.
Random song suggestion: Jinjer Pisces Live Session

Glad to see more rock. I just listened to slipknot first album and i noticed xxxtentacion sampled some of their songs
Yall should react to the kill - 30 seconds to mars
Unc was hypnotized
My dad reacted to this album back in 2001 when it came out.. he told me to turn that shit off 😅
This song is about Drug abuse and more specifically the apathy that's shown to people who die from Overdosing
Empty Walls by Serj Tankian would be a good one also
Gotta do prison song
Like your dad, it’s easy to miss the lyrical meaning as even the band hasn’t explained it clearly. As a Christian though, it’s actually abundantly clear. You can’t earn your way to heaven.. you will fall short (self righteous suicide) and you’ll be shocked (why have you forsaken me)
