Gotta love that guy!! Just taking the bikes to their limits without a care in the world. A few times he sounded nervous, but big balls nonetheless!! I've tested the Busa, and a couple of R1s and can tell you truthfully both are plenty of fun pulling the throttle! The difference in these three bikes will make no difference whatsoever to the avg person buying one. You need a ballsy guy like this one to quantify crazy results...God bless his heart...
Tahnk you for that reply Buggus. Love reading all the replies from people who have never really twisted the throttle hard on one of these beasts. I ride an '11 R1, but stay well within my riding limits. Hope to one day be able to pull everything out of the bike that she is capable of, but I know better than to switch from a smaller bike to a litre bike and go straight for balls to the wall. If you have never been on a machine like these, there is nothing to compare it to. Put your average rider on an older R1 like mine or a newer, faster bike, and he won't be able to tell the difference. Simply because the riding skills aren't there to TRULY push the machine to its limits.
It all boils down to personal preference. Some like a more bulky Busa/ zx14R and they're comfortable on them, and some like a nimble bike with similar power. All powerful bikes but I'd choose the HP4; but again, I'd rather have an Aprilia RSV4 Factory over the HP4.
I'm driving Honda CBR1000RR and SP2 but had the opportunity to test the HP4 lately. I'm not saying my Honda's are bad. They are still top notch in the supersport segment just as the R1, GSXR1000 and Ninja... But that HP4 is just 1-level above dominance. Where other bikes are at their limit the HP4 pushes out that little more. However for mortal souls there is little difference between 305 km/h (HP4) and 300 km/h (CBR1000RR) ^^
All 3 bikes are extraordinary. I have the ZZR, a real pussycat but my god when you roll it on. It is so comfortable and easy to live with.....but give her the respect she deserves. Love it!
If this was meant to be a top speed test, i.e testing how fat it'll go; the results should've been verified with gps, not the on-board speedometers which are known to be inaccurate.
Preachin' to the choir here, but for the "keyboard Valentino Rossis" out there, here's some numbers...... All of the speedos that I have checked (several different cars and bikes, checked on radar) are all set pretty much dead on 10% fast. I was quite surprised how consistent this was. Apparently, they do this to avoid people in the more litigative societies suing them for getting a speeding ticket with a legal-ish speed on the clock. 10% is quite a lot though.... 60 indicated, speed 54... 100 indicated, speed 90.....150 indicated speed 135..... 200 indicated, speed 180..... 250 indicated, speed 225. It's a percentage error that gets bigger in mph or kph as the speed goes up. A true 125mph (200 km/hr) is bloody fast on most roads, no matter what the 'clocks' say. As for tachometers, I have found that they tend to be a bit closer to the truth (because errors are less likely to lead to lawsuits?). My old CBR has a speedo (mechanical, front wheel driven) that reads dead on 10% fast (same as my car) with standard tyre pressures, and a tach that is accurate to under half that (surprise!)... at 5K on the dial the engine is doing 4,900 which is only 2% off... checked with an electronic tach. The one on the bike is triggered by the 'sparks department' so I guess is easier to get right straight 'off the shelf'......? Outright speed is not that important on the road for most of us, but the track is a different story (I am not able to afford track days on the OAP!). I am a road rider in a country (NZ) with a universal 100km/hr (62 mph) open road limit. With 110 on the clock I am right on it; the police usually give us 10km/hr tolerance (4km/hr on some holiday weekends) before they get out their ticket book, so if I have under 120 on the dial (108 true), I am usually OK on a normal day. I would recommend that everyone check out their own speedo with a good GPS (tracking at least 8 satellites at the time) or on radar, to see where they stand vis their vis true velocity. Might save you some shekels; or your licence... One thing you can be sure of though, and that is that if you have the legal limit on the clock, you're well under it.... Keep safe out there guys.... :-)
***** Dud-ess actually.... And I was just giving my personal experience from stuff I have actually measured myself, rather than what I have read or been told. All were mechanical speedos, but I believe that most later bikes have transmission-driven speedos that may well have readings affected by all sorts of factors not present on the old front-wheel-driven speedos on older or simpler bikes. If I can ever afford a late model or new bike again, I will make a point if checking the speedo, which I always do with a new acquisition anyway. So far they have all read 10% fast, but I never take it for granted.... :-)
Emtildeath6666 Well, it was police radar, so I am assuming that it is pretty accurate.... a damned sight more accurate than my speedo anyway. It was the consistency of the results that surprised me. It would seem that our speedos have the capacity to be quite accurate, but are not set that way at the factory...
kathrynliz1 you had cheecked it very profecional,i travel with an ibiza about 105 klm at the cars speedometer dead on 10% fast as you say, on a limit 100klm,the police stops me and said ,,you was faster than the limit.i knew i wasent and told him let me see my speed, and he say i have no speedometer but i felt it by my experience.....only in greece..finaly he left me
***** No if your R1under reads its got issues.. No manufacturer allows a speedo to read less than what your actually doing its a legal requirement it can over read which manufacturers do by 7 - 10 percent normally but never under. Your R1 has been tampered with thats not normal it would never have left the yamaha factory like that guaranteed and is in the vast minority
I bought the busa simply because its fast enough but the big thing that I like is the gauges. Its the only bike with perfect gauges. none of that crap that you cant see when the sun is glaring on it
Buy a S1000R and truly enjoy the road. Guys who do what this guy did are rare. Let's face it, most of us never go to a track. The BMW is pure heaven for us normal dudes.
+ÐanMusic ♫♪ My dad sure loves his collection of "fastest bike in the world" He has a ZZR1100,a ZX-12R and a ZX-14R.... Wonder if he will get the H2 soon xD
Lets face it the busa and zzr aren't built just for outright numbers anymore (were they ever?). They're built so you can use a lot of their performance most of the time without stressing the bike or rider all that much. The HP4 is fast but you have to wring it's neck to get that speed. That's just not how most people ride on the road especially when they just paid £12k+ for the bike. Then there's the badge. Suzuki and Kawasaki are decent enough names in bikes but BMW can command a premium. That allows them to develop a more extreme machine and use more expensive parts. What I'm trying to say is if Kawasaki or Suzuki were less price point limited and just wanted numbers there would be 50kg less weight in those big bruisers and easily an extra 50hp.
Ring it's neck out? Did you watch the video? He short shifted the shit out of it! The other 2 bikes he took to redline in every gear, if anything those are the 2 that had their neck rung out... Anyway, the big bikes are cruisers and the HP4 is a sport bike. They have different groups of riders. Take them to the track the the HP4 would be laughing at the other two, go on a long trip or with a heavy rider, the bigger bikes will be laughing at the BMW. Different strokes for different blokes
ImAFLying Cactus Not only that, he tried to excuse the short-shifting by saying he was trying to keep the wheel down (IIRC) - the damn thing has 'wheelie control' - and he didn't seem to mind popping the front up on the others. Also, these guys aren't the best at the strip, that's for certain. Every review of the HP4 (or even the 'base' s1000rr) can make it well into the 9s 1/4 mile. And still, the HP4 won. Haha.
Bib frequently has his Peugeot 106 diesel bouncing off the limiter...and if you think a ZZR1400 is frightening try my Peugeot on the M25 in the rush hour....
I did notice that the Busa was only in General Street mode. The mode is shown next to the gear indicator to the right. There should be "A" shown for performance mode "B" for touring and "C" for cruising. This was not a true indicator of the Hayabusa's factory performance.
HP4 is overall best bike. it is the only one that can kick ass on the track and it accelerates faster. if you take that limiter off it it would co past 200
All 3 bikes are bloody fast. The times are all close enough that a slightly quicker reaction from the rider will make all the difference. A great video.
Guus V The hp4 is just a litre bike. No torque, no comfort for longer distances and no proper room for gear or a passenger, and no weight to keep it stable in wind or following cars/trucks... If I wanted to do track days I'd definitely pick the beemer over the other two, but them again I'd probably just go for a jappa R1, cbr or ZX..
Yes... it's a case of what would you prefer to ride every day, in traffic. General "handleability" is a strong point for most riders. There are a lot of amazingly quick bikes out there that are a pain in the butt to ride in traffic..... Awkward riding position, wrist strain etc. The Japanese are very good at getting this sort of thing right because they know that their bikes are not ridden only on track days. Even something like a CBR600RR is not too bad (Hondas tend to be among the best in this respect) although for road use putting the pegs down an inch of so, and the bars up ditto would take nothing from road performance and make them more pleasant to ride. There's more to motorcycling than speed, although we all like to go fast when we can. When y'all get as old as me (almost 72) you'll appreciate ergonomics in a way that the younger riders rarely do... LOL I do like sporty bikes though... Cruisers are not my bag at all... :-)
Anybody with a good taste will pick the Busa over the ugly ZZR14. I really don't give a damn about fraction of a second faster or slower. Busa looks impressive, is fast, powerful and super comfy on long rides. S1000RR is a great bike, for the track though, very uncomfortable for long rides.
I've not long brought a 2012 Busa and can say there some machine for the money, I did notice the Busa on the video was in standard start up mode! As there was no 'A' in the digital part of the clocks, not sure if the Busa's standard start up mode is the same power as pressing and holding the mode button until the 'A' comes on?
I OWN A BUSA, most people talk smack don't own any of the three bikes the number's are so close it could be tire pressure or chain lube or chain adjustment that makes the differance
it would be nice to see the numbers with the damn limiters removed, my 2010 busa makes 195hp ( derestricted and akra 4into1 ) at the back wheel and has done 192mph over a standing mile and 196mph over 1 mile and a quarter
I got a chance to ride a ZX14r (as they are called here in the states) and absolutely couldn't stop giggling like a kid inside my helmet. My MTS1200s can sneak up on me if I get slap happy with the gas, but riding the Kawasaki you always knew your right wrist was twisting the volume knob on the voice of God. Otherworldly linear power.
It would be an insult to amateurs to say that this is an amateur video. MCN has taken a dive in my estimation. And to think I used to take some notice of its reviews.
having had one of each of them bikes the zzr1400r is by and the far the most stable and smooth and never seems to be under any pressure to get to 300k /186
@@RDTH-cam54 Because BMW doesn't have any ECU restriction , but ZZR1400 has , to compare those 2 bikes need only to unlook the ZZR power and REV limiter and…..BYE BYE BMW….
Dam..that Beemer sure does move well..i mean the other bikes are way heavier..built for two up super highway speed n such..buttye bmw sure does function..drove my friends rr and it just did everything so well..
I'd like to have seen a price comparison to go with this guess I'll have to search that out myself. They ALL were fast so to me it'd come down to price, comfort & looks. I didn't see enough here to decide which one I want but thanks it was fun watching
It would weigh a lot and take it out of the Supersport class. Many Japanese brands are now in the 200hp range with 2015 1000cc motors. I think in the next few years the Hypersport class will be nonexistent as bikes will either be sport tourers or supersport. When the zx10r is just as fast down a dragstrip as a zx14r and kill it in in the twisties why would anyone buy the zx14r?
DonTHEhandsome1 clearly you're missing that if they have the technology to make the supersport and superbike classes faster then they can use the same technology to make the open class bikes faster. It's much like how a modern 600cc bike is faster down the quarter mile than a late 90s early 00s 1000cc bike
Bernardo Santos you can always install them aftermarket, they're not too expensive. It's just nice that pretty much all BMWs have heated grips standard. I'd put them on my bike if I didn't already have heated gloves
Make it a fair fight and take it around a real race track :) It's quite hard to put a 1 liter machine vs 1.3 and 1.4, but it did bloody well. HP4 forever!
Bmw and zzr where good bmw wins on every thing else but in the rollouts was pretty close 0.02s zzr it can mean human error meaning that it can go either way for me bmw as it took the others on the other categories of this test....
hp4... I am already cramped up from the ride.... busa I am a lot more comfortable but have a buzzed feeling from the vibrations... ZX... am super comfortable with no vibrations at all.
I'm not sure what your point is here so this particular ZX14R won on this particular day in the hands in this particular rider, so we are to make sweeping generalizations about all such bikes and all riders on all test tracks in all weather?
For all practical purposes, these's nothing in it. Surprised about the Suzi, it's an old design and holds up well. I wonder how they would all compare without the limiters?
Again, as most people have observed, these are restricted top speeds. I have a de- restricted 2013 ZZr14 and I have a seen a GPS verified 182mph. I do think there is more to come, maybe 188-190 but probabaly not a great deal more than that. I would imagine that the BMW is very close to it's max at 186. Still, there all very fast.
I had a 2009 kwaker 1400 there was no problems with handling only in town a heavy bike but top end I could only get up to 165before I had to shut down ?the wind force on me was about to rip me off the bike ?it needed a different screen ? But I can tell all there is no felling like that you know that machine has got you .
Awesome video, except for poor voice quality, you should do captions for the whole video, there was something about speed limiters mentioned after hayabusa ride but hell, I couldn't understand it!
I find it funny trying to compare most super bikes. When dealing with such tight times it's the rider that makes the difference and each pass can be a bit different. Real street world, it's all rider skills and total weight to horsepower and gear ratio. In the end who gets there first!
MCN hello,i have a question, it wasnt true that superbikes were limited to 180mph or something from the factory, tha beacause some kind of agreedment between companies?
I saw one of these kawasaki 1400 in a local bike shop when I went to pick up my new moped. It is a HUGE bike. it was all white and had a price tag of 16,000$ US dollars. I talked to the salesman and you cannot even race these bikes at a state drag strip without being a licensed bike racer. There are just too Damn Fast.
Ummm...I measure my busa weight, and its(with some mods, like yoshimura exhaust system etc) 231kg(half tank) on the papers 243kg(without fuel) and 266kg yours ? (same busa, just with stock exhaust and different color)...
I thought all (liter) street bikes were limited to 186mph (± speedo inaccuracies) in america, whats the point of checking top speeds then? unless you have unrestricted bikes
Christopher, CBR1000RRs are badass don't get me wrong but my close friend has both a Ducati Panigale R 2012 and the HP4. I obviously didnt ride either of those hard because compared to my little Triumph Street Triple R 2013 those things are ridiculous. But after riding the BMW HP4 he said he regretted "wasting $30K" on the Duc. And hes a straight beast on the track and he wont go full throttle with the HP4...YET. that being said I am not trying to imply that you dont know what you are talking about but you said that most 1000cc bikes dont keep up with you, well the HP4 is on a tier of its own. and as we all know, Speed in a straight line isn't everything.
Not surprised that the S1000RR didn't win the high gear roll ons, its engine makes most of its power higher in the rev range. The BMW had the higher trap speed in the 1/4 and yet lost to the kawi...which tells me wheelieing was the problem...it's been proven if you lock the front end down it will beat the kawi even in the 1/4 mile...I've never been beaten on mine (2012 BMW S1000RR with Austin Racing Full off road Inconel exhaust, Power Commander V and a dyno tune by a WSBK Mechanic).
I'm impressed with the roll on times in the higher gears for the BMW, I would have thought that is where you may have noticed the extra cubes of the other two bikes, but no, the BMW is still hanging on in there. Impressive.

Bernardo Santos , a bicycle is easier to ride..
This guy is bonkers
All 3 bikes are extraordinary. I have the ZZR, a real pussycat but my god when you roll it on.
It is so comfortable and easy to live with.....but give her the respect she deserves. Love it!
I WANTED TO SEE A DRAG RACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If this was meant to be a top speed test, i.e testing how fat it'll go; the results should've been verified with gps, not the on-board speedometers which are known to be inaccurate.
Not true.
Some are way off but the 14 would still win
why do you think he had to wait and "download the data?"
He mentions the GPS on the bike and in the end they do the comparison
Ahh you're right...I didn't catch that initially
And to wat standard was your radar calibrated ?
The BMW is pure heaven for us normal dudes.
seems MCN needs to get some better audio technology -_-
downshift83 and cameras
downshift83 I haven't seen a video of the ZZR hitting 11,000 in 6th...
Is it "managed" or something?
Would've been much better if we could hear the bikes and not him yelling in our ears!!
Pete- H You've never ridden a bike over 150mph then. There's plenty of amateur youtubers twisting throttles in driveways for you.
Phil Clarke My naked 2003 Yamaha XJR400R only get 165mph the most, everything stock plus 89kg rider...
The HP4 seemed to be like "Fuck the road, I'm flying"
Are bikes and bikes and also are legends...one is ZZR 1100.....that is an icon.
+ÐanMusic ♫♪ My dad sure loves his collection of "fastest bike in the world" He has a ZZR1100,a ZX-12R and a ZX-14R.... Wonder if he will get the H2 soon xD
no doubt HP4 is the winner!
200 kg versus 270 kg
HP4 accelerates faster
Very Well Said!
ImAFLying Cactus
Not only that, he tried to excuse the short-shifting by saying he was trying to keep the wheel down (IIRC) - the damn thing has 'wheelie control' - and he didn't seem to mind popping the front up on the others.
Also, these guys aren't the best at the strip, that's for certain. Every review of the HP4 (or even the 'base' s1000rr) can make it well into the 9s 1/4 mile.
And still, the HP4 won. Haha.
Still the HP4 is easier to drive, slow or fast. BMW is king of bikes atm.
Chad Baldwin its 2 drag bikes and a track bike. hp4 would still blow the zx10 and gsxr 1000 out of the water
Thrilling. Insane. Unforgettable. Thanks, MCN.
"On the limiter", That's something you will never experience on my ZX-12R A-1
what about in 1st gear
There all restricted don't know why people think the A1 zx12r is unrestricted
Bib frequently has his Peugeot 106 diesel bouncing off the limiter...and if you think a ZZR1400 is frightening try my Peugeot on the M25 in the rush hour....
@@isabel3harriet1 because it is unrestricted. Much like the highly sought after 1999 Hayabusa.
I really do like the BMW , physically , I don't fit , so I own both the Hayabusa and the ZX14R , big cc wins for me .
I did notice that the Busa was only in General Street mode. The mode is shown next to the gear indicator to the right. There should be "A" shown for performance mode "B" for touring and "C" for cruising. This was not a true indicator of the Hayabusa's factory performance.
I'm surprised the HP4 doesn't make a bigger difference with its modern engine and much lower weight
HP4 is overall best bike. it is the only one that can kick ass on the track and it accelerates faster. if you take that limiter off it it would co past 200
Liked everything except for the belch. Geez man, couldn't you guys just edit that bit of distraction out?
All 3 bikes are bloody fast. The times are all close enough that a slightly quicker reaction from the rider will make all the difference. A great video.
The bit where it says [unintelligible] sounded like the joy of high speeds! "Smurgle Gurff!!!"
I would choose the HP4. That stuff is good in the corners too.
I wouldn't purely because it is so expensive.
i owned the zx14 same as in this. one of the best traits of this bike is the brakes and the corner stability.
So for all realistic purposes the kawasaki is the quickest, the suzuki is the slowest.. Yet I'd still buy the busa ;)
Me too Busa!
Me too
Yes... it's a case of what would you prefer to ride every day, in traffic.
LOL
I do like sporty bikes though...
Hey guys, GREAT VIDEO.
I really would like to know what type of exhaust is the one in the KAWASAKI.
Thank you
Luiz
That was a fantastic video chaps much enjoyed, thank you!
Would love one of them beemers! Defo my next bike, maybe not the hp4 though, probs go for the s1000r
So ZZR 1400 top in almost every category.
Me: need to flash mine.
La 1400 una moto estraordinaria la de mis sueños 😂
I saw a lot of videos on you're channel. But after this one-subscribed))) Hello from Ukraine)
Enjoyed that. Looked exciting!
It would be an insult to amateurs to say that this is an amateur video. MCN has taken a dive in my estimation. And to think I used to take some notice of its reviews.
fuck you
having had one of each of them bikes the zzr1400r is by and the far the most stable and smooth and never seems to be under any pressure to get to 300k /186
So ZZR1400 is the King👑
planetnails100180 did I miss something? The BMW had better numbers so why would the 14 be the king?
planetnails100180 and you know this man !!!!!
now the busa is god then
@@RDTH-cam54
Because BMW doesn't have any ECU restriction , but ZZR1400 has , to compare those 2 bikes need only to unlook the ZZR power and REV limiter and…..BYE BYE BMW….
@@alessiodallatorre7791 the BMW is lighter and actually has more horsepower. What on Earth would make you think the 14 is faster?
Dam..that Beemer sure does move well..i mean the other bikes are way heavier..built for two up super highway speed n such..buttye bmw sure does function..drove my friends rr and it just did everything so well..
the old mcn was never this boring
I'd like to have seen a price comparison to go with this guess I'll have to search that out myself. They ALL were fast so to me it'd come down to price, comfort & looks. I didn't see enough here to decide which one I want but thanks it was fun watching
what would happen if bmw boosted the engine up to 1400cc from 1000cc...IMAGINE THAT.
It's much like how a modern 600cc bike is faster down the quarter mile than a late 90s early 00s 1000cc bike
nicetry64 not to defend him, but the new R1 is about even with the s1000rr. The BMW does have heated grips standard though
Sirref heated grips?? Im fucking SOLD
Bernardo Santos you can always install them aftermarket, they're not too expensive. It's just nice that pretty much all BMWs have heated grips standard. I'd put them on my bike if I didn't already have heated gloves
I rode my friends 08 Busa in a straight line only up to 4thgear then I chickened out! What a Beast!!
I love Kawasaki, I actually own a 2007 ZX14 (ZZR1400) With 72k miles, but that BMW is a serious bit of kit.
can you test the new H2 like you did in this video? this video gave me a motoboner!
Very Interesting! This makes my Triumph Street Triple look like a Moped! Cool Video Guys
The highlight for me was at the end of the BMW run @ 9:30, "BURP! Huh, huh, huh, huh." All awesome bikes for me.
hp4... I am already cramped up from the ride.... busa I am a lot more comfortable but have a buzzed feeling from the vibrations... ZX... am super comfortable with no vibrations at all.
This was nuts to watch hahah seems you had a blast!
I'm not sure what your point is here
so this particular ZX14R won on this particular day in the hands in this particular rider, so we are to make sweeping generalizations about all such bikes and all riders on all test tracks in all weather?
Thought the s1000rr won this already, a few years ago?
Should have flashed the ECUs first.
The 2012 ZX-14 is the fastest from factory 2006-2020.
On my stock GSXR750 I have hit 285km/hr and that's when I let back on the throttle! Was still pulling at that speed, but was fast enough for me, lol.
Remove the limiters and try again 😉
worst sound ever! why can so many motovloggers get I right and MCN don't have a clue?
Have both 2014 ZZR1400PS and 2015 Kawasaki H2, the H2 is an experience but the ZZR is fast and comfortable.
this bike have the power modes like the busa? A,B,C? very good this modes. thanks
loved this video. more like this please
But the audio....
Great video I can't wait to see what the new Kawasaki H2 is like in comparison
Big Z. 2nd gear power wheelie at 100mph.....👌
I thought all (liter) street bikes were limited to 186mph (± speedo inaccuracies) in america, whats the point of checking top speeds then? unless you have unrestricted bikes
insanely quick, excelent motorcycle
how do you keep the front end down when you take off on these bikes
Nice review. But choose a better mic next time.
The 1st 10 secs reminds me of "Breaking the Sound Barrier" 1952. (Good old David Lean).
So the winner is BMW HP4 for sure !!!
this is the internet you know, no need to censor swearing.
oh my god, go be stupid somewhere else
Not only was that a good review but fun !
The BMW is faster than the bus... lol... never thought I'd see the day.
I love the 14r and the HP4... two incredible bikes.
Missiles......
I like the 1000cc revving and sounding as there are hell's burning flames in between your knees
i think the HP4 is not on SLICK MODE (RACE MODE)
Honestly I love the hp4 but I'd probably get the Kawasaki because of price and for the comfort of everyday riding
Be intresting to see what they would do without the limiters
Not surprised that the S1000RR didn't win the high gear roll ons, its engine makes most of its power higher in the rev range. The BMW had the higher trap speed in the 1/4 and yet lost to the kawi...which tells me wheelieing was the problem...it's been proven if you lock the front end down it will beat the kawi even in the 1/4 mile...I've never been beaten on mine (2012 BMW S1000RR with Austin Racing Full off road Inconel exhaust, Power Commander V and a dyno tune by a WSBK Mechanic).
doesn't the hp4 have a quickshifter? that must help a lot in some of the parts in this test. even though his clutchless shifting is very fast
great video !
