The tables at Gants Hill were Starlines. Same type table Ray Reardon won world title on in 1978. That actual table ended up in Earlsfield Snooker Club, near Wandsworth.
The starline ,the worst table in the history of the game ,ask any snooker fitter .Quite ironic really that two of the worst tables made have star in the name .
What a change! Stephen was a miserable one when he was at the top. Now he’s an absolute must on both his snooker channel plus when he takes on Jimmy Bullard on Golf Life. Lovely bloke and I’d love a best of three with him.
2:26 I remember that with our Snooker table. It's funny because we also had a tiny cue as well as 2 normal sized cues so whenever it was a shot near the wall we'd use the tiny cue so we wouldn't have to lift the cue up like that, it was a bit like using an extension or rest but using something smaller rather than longer.
This was great. Goldstein is a natural comedian especially that joke about him scoring 97. Sorry if I've missed it but why won't Jimmy make an appearance ?
Love these chats. Great to see the personalities of the players and Stephen coming through. Although it would be great if you could insert clips of the shots you talk about. Just to give a bit of context to what you are describing.
Those 6'x3' slate bed snooker/dining tables were brilliant. My Uncle had one and it played like a proper full size one. He had it in his garage and he promised to give it to me for my 16th birthday even though we barely had the room but then his garage roof collapse during a storm and it ruined the table and contaminated it with asbestos.
This guy is a natural comedian, doesnt even try to be funny any is witty with his comebacks. Made me laugh when he sed " nah thats just u in any car journey....sat quiet for 4 hours" 😂😂😂 top draw lmao
A few factual irregularities: 1. Stephen's cue broke in 2003. In fact, the reason it broke was that he could not take it on board with him as hand baggage due to 9/11 restrictions (so the incident could have not been in 2000). 2. He played with namely that old cue in 2002 when he beat Ronnie and lost to Ebdon (his last proper performance in the Crucible, as he says). 3. In the final frame against Ebdon, he had 3 good chances to make a winning contribution (started a break or had an easy red opener) before Ebdon made that winning break, not one 3/10 shot as he states here. Otherwise, nice video, Andy used to play better 5-10 years ago...
It was a great video. Great channel. I do think the Williams black is slightly less angle than Stephen remembers because it’s almost gun barrel straight in the 98 masters but in recreations there is a bit of angle involved.
I was thinking that he still had his old cue. I was a huge Hendry fan, I didn't think he played well against Ebdon in that final, it was the first time he seemed nervous. Ebdon wasn't playing great, but held his nerve in the deciding frame. I think Hendry used everything to beat Ronnie in the semi-final, he had nothing left for the final. It was a shame, as I thought he was good enough to win 10 world championships. I feel the yips were caused by the change in cue action, it was nothing like his more natural cue action, that won him the world championships in 1990. The few times he plays like that now, he looks good, I hoped he would go back to that cue action, no pause on the backswing, no time to think about the yips.
@@sharpvidtube Ebdon got the early lead but Hendry tied with him 5 or 6 times in that match but could never get ahead. Ebdon had something like 14 breaks over 50 , with 7 of them over 70.
