Thank you so much for the advice. I am now in junior year of medical school, planning to go to US in the future. Actually I'm quite lonely following this path, got no support or company when having this dream. Sometimes I ask my self, "Why not staying in Taiwan? It will be less challenging and maybe I can get into dermatology or plastic surgery program because of my outstanding academic performance ." Gradually I realize that fears and loneliness should not be the excuse that stop everyone from pursuing dreams. I hope that everybody here, whether you're non-US IMG considering working oversea like me, can stick to your life goals and keep working on.
Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience! Would you mind sharing with us what kind of job you’re working while pursuing the steps? Is it in healthcare? I might need to take a ‘gap’ year after graduating to prepare for the steps, and I’m curious what types of jobs we could get to sustain ourselves and also maybe justify the gap year… Wish you all the best in your journey!
hey, I'm so grateful to you for sharing this, despite the cons this is so encouraging for a non-US IMG! I'm currently in med school in Italy and it would be a dream to match into residency in the US, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can on the topic. Do you feel that my final grade could be of any relevance for my CV in the US? (we have a completely different grading system)
hi doc! i'm following you on your instagram too but it's only now that i got to check out your youtube channel. good stuff! anyway, i was just wondering how you're able to stay longterm in the usa despite being a non-US IMG? and i saw you're getting married to i assume is a US citizen. does that mean you'll now become a US IMG? thanks for the clarification in advance!
Hiya! I think I’ve always been comfortable communicating in English even when I was in the Philippines. Coming to the U.S. just solidified that even more :)
Hiya! Do you mean a list of medical schools that are accredited? You can check the World Federation for Medical Education website for a list of accredited schools that ECFMG recognizes :)
I would suggest following @doctorsfromph on Instagram and reaching out to them! They’re a community for Filipino doctors that are already in the UK or are about to prepare for the exams. They also have a TH-cam channel also called “doctorsfromPH” :)
@@KristinaInKentucky thank you so much I really appreciate it! I just found your channel here and I love it, it feels good to be "not the only one" who goes through all the IMG stress 😀❤

if you are a non-US IMG, how are you staying long term? Do you have a green card or a working visa?
same question!
it's called a j-1 visa
Can you change j1 visa to a green card?
Marunong po kayo mag Filipino?
Oo naman. Marunong din akong mag ilocano! :)
Would you know if the UK is also a good place for IMGs? Hehe
Hi there! Are you filipino as well?
