Finally an in depth Jordan story that shows you something about the man himself. Everyone talks about the cold smack he talked or how they pissed him off and he made them pay (I love those too), but I really love this one cause it shows just how dedicated of a student and how smart MJ was/is.
Any time a player showed Mike respect by asking him a question he would test them and see if they implemented what he said before telling them more.
What made MJ special,is not only his athletic ability. He was one of the most fundamentally sound basketball players ever. That's why he was able to dominate with the wizards. Without his athleticism. Before his injured. He last 10 games he was ave 29 points. For a guy drinking wine and smoking cigars for 3 years that he was out. That's why MJ was on a different level. Plus what mashburn,just described in this video his IQ of the game.

I feel like Jamal Mashburn is rarely talked about in the NBA world.
I became an nba fan when the Hornets moved to New Orleans.
The duo of mashburn and Baron Davis was nasty.
It's a shame mashburns knees and BD both gave up on the team.
He averaged like 23-6-5 that one season and was really efficient, too. Such a skillful allround player.
Him, Grant Hill and Glenn Robinson were the baddest SFs of the 90s.
Same with Penny and his ankles.

I come from Italy, i was born in 1988 and grew up there in the 90s.
In a country in which everybody basically only followed football (soccer), even my italian grandmother (rip) knew who michael jordan was. Kids were all soccer fans, BUT everybody knew who jordan was.
My brother and I were collecting nba cards, whereas before Jordan nobody even knew that the nba existed. Surely not my dad.
MJ was something else, incomparable to whomever came after him. Kobe and Lebron existed only because of MJ's legacy, but their impact is not even close.

Respected Mashburn since March madness 1992 Kentucky Wildcat days. Pitino had them boys Ballin'. That game against Duke in the Final four was better than the championship game against the Fab-Five. EPIC!

It is an underrated aspect of his game, as most of them are since Michael is a huge figure and what is promoted is him being a scorer. He is no Bill Russell or Larry Bird but when you watch him it is clear to see. A great representation of that is his efficiency despite the high volume and variety of shots in the game.
Jamal articulates his stories so well, he needs to be a regular on one of these shows someday.
As a 90's kid who was a Heat fan, I am getting such amazing nostalgia just seeing Mashburn here. Mourning and Hardaway get remembered the most from those years, but Mashburn PJ Brown, Voshon Leonard, Dan Majerle... that whole roster is still magic to me. Love hearing him speak.
Mashburn!!! Had his shoe with Fila. He attended Cardinal Hayes, my high school. I still have his rookie card. He was drafted with Penny, Kidd, Webber, JR Rider, and many others. I have all of their rookie cards, including Shaq!❤❤❤
I've been an IU fan for over 40 years. I remember watching Mash at UK and thinking... we ain't got nobody that can match that!!! Inside and out. Tough tough gamer!

I swear i keep telling these young kids, mike is so great that if you study him, youll become better yourself. I remember seeing an interview (cant find it anymore) where hakeem said he studied mikes moves for a summer. Came back and lit the league on fire. He had a counter for everything and didnt spend alot of energy on offense, leaving him fresh for relentless on defense.
Loved Mash and his role on my favorite Miami Heat teams. Super humble and intelligent. Got to shake his hand and thank him for his contributions when I worked camera for the heat.

One thing I like about Reddick's interviews is that he asks the question and lets his guests answer without a lot of interruption and talking over them. He finished his question at 0:33 and we don't hear his voice again until 6:22. That's so refreshing in this sports podcast interview space, well, podcast interview space in general.

I never realized how articulate of a speaker Mashburn is. He talks the way he plays, accurate, confident and sharp.
I’m glad JM shared how MJ helped him. Often times, the narrative about MJ is he didn’t share with the next generation. Bird and Magic saved it. MJ was the league. To think how that man went through all of that fandom, media, always dressed to the nines. Gave us fans all he had EVERY GAME. I can’t thank him enough. It was a time. His ora then and even now is unmatched, IMO!

Always noticed that about the UNC guys Worthy and Jordan. They would mix up their moves, going inside outside, right and left. The balance of it keeps the defenders honest
MJ was different, never was and will never be another MJ. The grace and artistic part of his game was what set him apart from the rest. You know what I mean if you have watched him play, even only from the TV.
