  • The Center for Compassion & Altruism Research & Education (CCARE) at Stanford University presents a dialogue between CCARE's founder and director, Dr. James Doty, and humanitarian and spiritual leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
    Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is an internationally renowned humanitarian and spiritual leader, an ambassador of peace and human values. Through his life and work, Sri Sri has inspired millions around the world with a vision of a violence-free, stress-free world. His organizations are two of the world's largest volunteer-run organizations: the Art of Living Foundation, an educational organization with a presence in over 150 countries, and the International Association for Human Values (IAHV), a humanitarian organization which provides trauma relief and promotes societal responsibility and human values in a range of international political, economic and social spheres.

    You have no choice but to "Love" Sri Sri and his teachings. Simplicity is what is required in this "complicated" world that we ourself have created. Why make compassion so complicated when it's so simple? The question is are we capable of compassion? Do we need a "Start" button like we have in the latest cars? Was it not difficult earlier to start a car in the 1950's? Guruji is our "Start" button of today's world... Just accept it. You can surely drive to your destination. Thank you Guruji.

    Amazing conversation! I am awed at the wisdom and skill required for the answers to be appropriate for the audience in terms of their background, not just educational but also spiritual. The care taken to ensure that each word has a positive impact on the listeners evinces the unbounded compassion of sri sri

    Thank you very much for the interview!
    James, you are a great interviewer and you would be even better if you paused in silence instead of saying "ahh" when you gather your thoughts. In this interview those "aahhs" were very noticable and they could distract the listener.

    May there b Love n Kindness ..Peace Compassion for every single being on this planet and beyond or the other realms of Cosmos otherwise.. ..
    It's us the human reason of mass destruction to this planet ... Time to turn inward and be a real human ...Think inklusiveness and save the Mother Earth and Compassion for the innocent voiceless animals and protect them ....luv and kindness ..
    And this can be acchieve only by Yoga or meditating genuinely by each individual ...

    I find sri sri 's answer too simplistic and lacking depth. Its just a collection of the the obvious. Its ambiguous and he just states simplistic platitudes. I am not sure why he is so popular ?

    • @suerayss
      @suerayss 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't mean to disparage him or belittle him at all. I understand the value of what he is saying and where he is coming from. Yes I am a Indian and please don't flame or judge me for being an Indian. I am not against sri sri or want to mock him. I support people like him who are trying to communicate the ancient wisdom of India to the wider world thru the art of living. I see lot of interest from westerners but having read gita and mahabharata few times myself I just in this particular talk he stated very straightforward simplistic things that are very obvious and just normal one-o-one rules. I wonder what's attraction here ? I live in the west and I see lots of more advanced explanation,self-help and recommendation of finding happiness and balance here. Is the attraction that he is a guru and is indian ? is brand of india as a spiritual guru powerful and inspite of the answers being obvious people want to hear it from a Indian guru to just reassert the obvious and is that what makes them happy ?
      Maybe as a Indian I am bit insenstive. I dunno hence the comment asking. There are other talks that i found more interesting. I find sadhguru more deeper in his articulation and lectures. Sri Sri seems like a nice smiling guru that perhaps visually brings calm and peace to his followers but his suggestions are too simplistics that I am perhaps naive to ask 'doesn't everybody know such simple stuff ?'.

      +tube or not tube simple but effective. What you find simple would be more than enough for others. Not everyone needs depth.

      What i like about this guy (who i just stumble across some days ago) is the way he make me comfortable. I think its he's voice or something, well it make me fade in to the presence nicely.
      You might find Adyashanti interesting if your looking for some more depth.
